I still remember my Ultra Magnus was strange as hell. The head of the truck cab, the white Optimus had NO color, just completely white while the head for his "Ultra" mode was just plain blue.

I bought the special edition of Transformers the movie, the original 1986 version, and the DVD include some pre productions scene..... it actually show Ultra Magnus in the DIACLONE COLORS!!! it was kinda wicked to see the toon version like that LOL

in the diaclone series magnus was known as powered convoy and was the same character as convoy (pre-tf prime) but with a new trailer/battle suit. that answer your childhood questions?

@thecollector75 Terific video review and I'm buying myself 3 Hasbro G1 Ultra Magnus Originals and 3 Japanese G1 Ultra Magnus reissue from ebay i the near future as I'm setting up my own massive glass display of Transformers in the near future.

@abudzakho true. there was no Autobots/Cybertrons and Decepticons/Destrons in DIA clone. they were human operated mecha's. It initially didn't sell to well until Hasbro paid writers come up with a meaning for the robots... Hence the whole saga of "Transformers " was born out of Diaclone

i have an original g1 magnus, boxed 100% complete i think. instructions, tech spec viewer, even have the magnus vs galvatron poster.

super stiff jonts. mint condition wth almost no stcker ware. any ideas what its worth? thx

I do love the G1 Ultra Magnus figure and it is one of my favourites from that line, but now that i see the original diaclone colours it's difficult to look at ol' mags the same. Nice review

this isnt the original, i wouldnt have put the stickers on him lol, this is a e-hobby re-issue from a few years ago and the guy i got this off put them on him, id have prefered to put decepticon insignias on him, just like i did with my diaclone trailbreaker , tho im sure many would have me arrested for that lol - graham

I like both of them. The Diaclone version could be like the Decepticon version of Ultra Magnus. Brilliant to see them both together cause they're both unique. And it was a shame that the people who made the Transformers show in 86 couldn't get Robert Stack to do the role for Ultra Magnus again because his voice fitted so perfectly for him.

Anyway, always a pleasure watching your Transformers reviews, and I look forward to the next one.

there was an altra magunus trailer set.... that was the G1 trailer, but did not include the lil white truck.

Nice find there. I never had G1 Ultra Magnus myself, but a friend of mine did - and he had the one with the plastic wheels, no windows or paint application on the face. I always thought it looked a bit cheap. The Diaclone version is pretty sweet, that was the box in the center background yes?
