I have been doing sledge hammer work outs, this looks like you can use a sledge in place of the core bar .I some times fit olympic plates over the handle to increase resistance when safe for certain movements, for the most part you can slide your hands farther away from the head of the hammer to increase resistance.
Very versatile exercise, really great! I think, it is possible to use also simple dumbbell. You strenghten legs and glutes and also stretch with that exercise psoas and iliacus to maintain right position of the pelvic.
We could argue that a standard bar shortened and weights on one end fixed as usual would be as efficient but looking a bit closer at your design it is very nicely done. I would highlight the safety features of your bar more as it seems like the main feature that sets it apart from home made versions.
@IanKingTraining - I don't usually answer questions like this. But, because you are a fellow T-nation author, i will. What really determines what exercise is "best" is specific to the individual. That said, the exercise shown is great for most healthy athletes and exercise enthusiasts. The word "best" is only included in the title because it helps the video stand out here on Youtube. But, you already knew all that.
@billysue2 so you fall for his shitty gimic and buy his piece of shit work out equipment that you don't need so he gets money in his pocket for developing pretty much a smaller version of a barbell. wow.

Do a video explaining the safety features.
