  • Rockin' Ruth Brown!!!!!R.I.P R&B lost a great icon when she left!

  • I love Ruth Brown cause the sound like you never it and with that deep voice got me but been listerning to her when I was 15 so I love her voice

  • Went No 1 RnB

  • She rocks!

  • The Paul Williams band did a good job accompanying Ruth Brown.

  • Great song

  • I think it's ironic that YouTube puts Taylor Swift's vid as a "feature" in front of Ruth Brown's. Taylor, I wish you all the success in the world study the works of performers such as a Ruth Brown as a guide.

  • i love this song id love to see this clip with better sound quality..it sounds like its underwater or something...

  • Awesome-TNX!!!!

  • Listening to this and similar music you learn to "dispize" the media from ignoring such obvious talent.

  • WOW.... This was a real treat to watch. Such style and class (and I share her name) THANKS!

  • mikeystratford -- that's the great Willie Bryant intro'ing Ruth.

  • Was that Wynonie at the start?

    Mikey

    Mega singing

  • Loads of personality!!

  • Don't ya just know she was full of spunk. I just wanna go out and have a cocktail or three with the broad and see what kind of trouble we can get started.

  • she's awesome! I'm in love with her voice..wonderful rythm!

  • simply GENIAL !!!

  • i can see myself in her shiny hair

  • Great! Powerful throat! I love 50's R&B!!! Thanks U.S.A. for all that hep stuff!

  • It's too bad Ruth Brown, Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday did not get the exposure they deserved in movies or on TV. I would love to see and hear more of them sing their songs now that they are gone.

  • Actually, Billie is famous as hell. I think everyone knows who she is. Bessie not so much. And I never even heard of Ruth until today...and I know A LOT about music; so it just goes to show you, crap sells; quality not so much.

  • They are all featured, along with other jazz singers, on the PBS series "Jazz". Its a great series and was produced by Ken Burns. Every jazz lover should have a copy in their collection.

  • The young folks these days will do well to be exposed to more of this type of music.

  • me being a "young folk", Jevezy, would have to agree

  • @olejazzman I totally agree! Amazing!

  • Atlantic Records has been called 'the house that Ruth built'

  • Well without Ruth fighting for the rights of African Americans in the music industry, as they were underpaid, their music was always stolen by whites, during that time; it was Ruth who caused that to change. She coined the term Rhythm & Blues hence R&B, which is why we have our own label, which Black music originally fell under! Today they want to put anyone under that label, when it was originally intended for Blacks as we were and are Rhythm & Blues! She also did mush more, read about her!

  • @cammicty - stolen by whites? she did 'mush' more? i can tell you're not a musician, nor educated.

  • @howianna It was very true Little Richard was jacked by Pat Boone. Big mama Thronton was Jacked by Elvis. Etta James was Jacked by Georgia Gibbs. Back then when Black artists would come out with a popular record, white acts would capitalize by making a cover version to prevent black artists from crossing over to the pop charts. Little Richard taught Pat Boone though, he upped the tempo on his songs and used vocal acrobatics Pat couldnt match. the public made their preference for richard known.

  • R.I.P amazing woman

  • true class true talent.

  • thanks

  • such a great song...never fades.
