This was my first ever marathon. I travelled from London for it and was totally unprepared for the heat that hit me as I stepped off the plane. I finished in 4 hours 32 minutes, but was happy to still be alive! The heat was just unbearable and I still can't believe I made it.
I've now run 6 marathons and whenever it gets warm in England, I always think that it can never get as hot as it was that day in Chicago!
This was a great video! The weather was brutally difficult to even try and adjust to. The wonderful city and GREAT camaraderie definitely helped and makes me want to run it next year!!
I videoed my 2006 experience which I'll video post. I cannot believe the difference in weather between the two. 2006 was like 45 and 2007 was 95, unreal.
Hopefully next year will be smoother and we can see a sequel
I love your video! I forwarded it to some friends and family who have never seen a marathon before. I was there and I also finished, and as I see more and more of what people went through, I am realizing what an accomplishment that was. It was my 10th marathon and I didn't finish in the time I wanted of course, but that's ok! Congratulations!
congratulations to you! our prayers go out to the family of the runner that sadly passed away. this was to be my hubby's first marathon (at the age of 51!) i secretly planned to pace him in at mile 20 (archer-chinatown) marker and bought my own bib and picked up my packet with his at the expo last friday....his 15K Pace 12:41, Half Pace 13:16, TIME Chip Time: Clock: Pace: 13:45. maybe next year?

From what I've been told, and from what I've read- this is truly the best marathon out there. I hope I can run in it someday.

Well done. I ran the race and had a very similar experience all the way through. Glad to see you made it to the finish line.
