Hey there Jake! I have a 2009 Burton Custom ICS, looking to switch because the nose of the board is broken. I saw your review on the Burton Sherlock and read a couple of reviews on other sites such as The Good Ride. I mainly do downhill, resort riding, backcountry, not much park. I love the shape of the board, but have read that this board isn't very good on pistes or hard snow. Does it carve well? I'm 6'0 and about your size, so I'd also go with the 163. Is it fast for the one 163?
@MrSurgio1984 You sound like a similar profile rider to me as well. Getting the board to perform on hard pack does require a little extra oomph. It has a pretty small effective edge when the board is riding flat but when rolled up on it's side the side effects really engage. I'm in the NW where snow conditions are not really bullet proof and the Sherlock is a perfect quiver of one for our local hills. I travel a fair amount and have logged many days on firm conditions.
@MrSurgio1984 You do need to be confident rolling over to your toe or heel side edge in order to get the board to bite but it will bite. It will also be very different then your Custom (assuming that its camber) as far as response. It's softer and much more playful when ridden flat. All though lots of companies make claims to rocker or combo (camber/rocker) carving well it's my opinion that if you stick a snowboard with camber under an experienced riders feet it will always carve better.
@greendayftw123 Absolutely. The Flying V Rocker profile is designed to give you the benefits of rocker without taking away from a traditional boards control on hard snow. Burton also uses what they call Frostbite on their board's edges for added edge grip. From park to pow to cruising groomers, the Sherlock will handle the whole mountain with ease.
is this board a true twin i.e. perfectly symmetrical?

I love the way the Camber handles, will the V satisfy my style of riding? Is it worth switching from Camber to V?
Thanks!
