i think its about time some1 starts showing there cards, win with good cards or win with bluff, thats how i tend to play because if u bluff sum1 they are steaming inside. all these pros i can garrentee they will watch this show wen they finish, so they think so thats how he plays ill have him next time (i no u could play opposite, but u gota be sure they no how u play for that to work) i just think now is the time for sum1 to throw regular poker out the window and no1 could follow you
i didnt get dwan's action. he called 38.000 out of position on the flop, then he folds after double check on the turn. every Ace value bets on the river and so does every Bluff in that spot. if he thought he was good on the flop, turn and river didnt change anything... im a No- one in poker, and he is a pro (my fav cash poker player). id like to understand his thinking process about this hand, any idea?
@SmotPoker09 I think he was hoping Kaplan would check on the river. Because Kaplan bet first, he has the initiative. Dwan is only following him. If Kaplan bets on the turn a lot = he has nothing/he wants to end the game quickly, if he bets a little = he has not a so good hand and wants to provoke Dwan. He checked = you have no clue of what he has. this scheme works the same with Dwan except he doesn't have the initiative of betting. But that's my humble opinion of course
heaps of ppl wud play a8-aj this way, check the turn just for pot control (yes i know they have trips but still happens a lot) no way dwan can call river. if anything i was super impressed he even called the 1st reraise with just bpbk dwan is a sicko
the line was indeed weird. i wouldn't even call it a strong bluff, but it worked as dwan didn't have anything really. kaplan didn't represent a proper hand the whole time, if he had hit something and played it like that, he would've played it extremely random. i'm sure dwan would've called with a slightly better hand.
@fume0ne If Im not mistaken his a very good tournament player who had some major cashes. And yes indeed the best and the funniest poker commentator ever with very good insight!
Gabe raises on the button figuring Eli limped a weak hand. Tom knows that Gabe doesn't have to have a strong hand to raise on the button, so he re-raises. Flop- A 7 3 rainbow perfect dry flop for Tom to c-bet, G re-raises. G cant have bottom two pair. Sets, 2 pair and Aces just call since he isn't scared of draws and Tom can keep firing. Ace turn, makes it even less likely that G has an Ace in hand. G checks; Tom has a showdown hand not called by worse so he checks. River is a blank. 45s????
Kaplan's a good player. I'm kind of surprised that Dwan would throw away two pair to that bet though, he can be pretty wild sometimes. I thought he would call that for sure.
@00101011011011 how many live hands have you played? if yoi don't consider Gabe's mannerisms as at least possibly tells, then what do you consider to be tells?
I'm commenting at around 3:00 in the hand, and Kaplan has just popped durrrr with a flop raise... if Dwan re-pops him with 32 on an A37 board, the f'n guy is sick!
Probably Dwan either levels himself into thinking Kaplan is playing a rag ace weird and is so nitty he's showing fear/weakness tells because he's afraid of trips vs. trips. I'm pretty sure his decision is between trip aces w/ bad kicker and total air.
Kaplan looks full of tells. Pressed lips when his flop raise doesn't get a fold immediately, head scratching and pacifying check rubs on the river as he sees the river blank and realizes he needs to bet to win. Same cheek rub when he gets 3-bet preflop by Dwan and he has to recheck his cards (imho, weighs nonpocket pairs big). Dwan, on the other hand, shows absolutely nothing. Crazy pro.

Dwan would've called there 9 out of 10 times except it was Gabe who has a rep for being a rock when he plays against these guys. Anyone else on the table he calls esp after checking the turn, although I guess if it had of been any of the other players they would of not checked the turn.
not trying to sound like an expert, but why did dwan call on the flop if he was going to check fold the turn(maybe?) and river.......does he think the 3 has showdown value or does he just hope he gets lucky and hits
Gabe Kaplan is the man... think about it he sits there and host the show and basically gets to observe and study all of those guys he should be one of the best players in the world and proves it in this video...
From what I've observed I believe Eli open limped, Gabe raised, Durr 3bet Eli folded, Gabe called. Durr cbet flop and gabe raised, durr called. Durrr checked the turn that paired the board, and Gabe checked back. Durrr checked the river and Gabe bet and Durr folded. I think the key point in this hand was when Gabe and Durrr made eye contact and had a Broment together. That allowed Gabe to tap into Durrrs soul, revealing Durrrs true identity. Durrr was afraid the secret might get out and folded.
Kaplan did the right thing in checking the turn against a thinking player like durrrr, as you're more likely to check trip aces on the turn. But if durrrr knew that he might have been able to hero call it, very marginal spot and I doubt there's very much history between the two so I understand durrr's fold, although I"d question what gabe is repping by raising him on a dry flop like that in the first place as most players would just smooth call the flop cbet with the ace.
@7AntichristSuperstar I'm speaking of meta game lines, fagtard. Of course there's situations where it's best to keep betting when you hit trips against calling stations or a player you know you're gonna get 3 streets of value from, but against aggressive players that perceive check turns as weakness and like to bluff the river it's different. It is completely villain dependent. Some players will float you one street and then you bet the turn when you trip up and they fold.
durr must be the best, imediantly says thats a weird line cause gabe reraised on a dry flop :) <3 dwan
