I recently bought the Glenn Miller Story on DVD. I had completely forgotten about this amazing scene. I had to watch it about 10 times in a row. Sad that these days are gone but great that there are people around that still appreciate this. Class, pure class!!
It was actually his BROTHER that died; George has been trying to get that fact straight for a LONG time, to no avail. George "Babe" was a great tenor sax player, and even Louis Armstrong thought so also!!
Hello again! His name is George 'Babe' Russin, and I will get you his phone number later today. He lives in North Miami Beach, Florida, and is about 96 or 97 years old now. Do you know about him? He was in MANY bands, starting about 1928 with Red Nichols, and then with Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey later on....and MANY other bands also. Please let me know what you know about him. Thanks, Ben.
Yes, the ones playing in the bar, but ben pollack also appears in that scene, he is just not invited to play, you have to watch the previous scene were Ben Pollack and Gene Krupa are playing with their drumsticks on a Piano.
Wonderful music

Idiot kids today need to be ripped from their iPods, locked in a room, and forced to see and hear this. Maybe a few would get a clue...

@hinodecho69 I totally agree it should be part of the school music lesson then maybe they would learn something.

Correction: Joe Yukl dubbed James Stewart on trombone, not Murray McEachern; Mr. Yukl was Mr. Stewart's coach and stand-in.
