U HAVE SOME GOOD POINTS! WHY DO SO MANY WOMEN GET SUCKED INTO BUYING EXPENSIVE CREAMS BECAUSE OF NAMES AND PACKAGING ? THE MARK UP IS OVER 300%!! WHAT A DAM RIP OFF!!
so you put those three products one after another on the same day? One thing that I was never sure about was if it was all right to use those active ingredient type of products on the same night, or I should switch them out and use one one day and another on a different day, and just keep switching back and forth. Would using more than one active ingredient type of product keep the other from working to its full potential when used together (apply one let it sink, then apply the other)? Thanks!
do you know of any good active ingrediants for sensative and redness? and does the cetaphil moisterizer moisterize very well? i have eucerin and i like it but it seems to not moisterize enough :(
do you know of any good moisterizer (drugsore) hopefully with zinc but a moisterizer that helps redness/irrataion/ and to really moisterize? i know its alot. :0 i just dont want to buy so many products :) if you know what i could o please let me know :)
A thing to remember with oily skin is, you need to use moisturizer even if you have extremely oily skin. Use it once you've washed the oil off with a cleanser. The reason your face produces oil is to combat dry skin. If you have a non-comedogenic moisturizer taking place of that oil, you will get less acne due to less oil clogging your pores.
are body Moisturizers ok to use on ur face? im having a problem my forhead and the skin on my face under my eyes have little break outs and i dont know what to do i have oily typ skin and im not sure what to use to help my skin when it comes to a good Moisturizer
@entertainmentguy1984 I don't think it's such a good idea because if it's meant for your body, the moisturizer is probably too powerful to use on the delicate skin on your face. You'll probably end up in more breakouts then you did before!
retin-a-micro is not ment for moistuizing i got it from a prescription from my dermatolagist, and she explained to me that its not going to moisturizer your skin its to reduce acne. and that u should use a moisturizer with it cuz it drys out your face.
I thought I knew a lot about skincare but you have put my knowledge to shame. Haha I really enjoyed your videos. Very informative in an educated way yet not at all boring!
Uhm this may seem like a silly question but do you suggest using the Vitamin C gel (sorry I couldn't catch the full names of the products you mentioned) at night and after 15mins of letting it sink in, put on a moisturizer of your choice? Or can the first 3 products you mentioned work in the daytime/morning? I do put on sunscreen every morning before I leave the house. Will putting on the Vitamin C gel, sunscreen and moisturizer be too much?
Hmm I cant seem to find that Strada Intense Skin Brightener that you mentioned .. i'm not sure if i'm spelling that correctly :S is it Strada? any way i heard to check for it in Shoppers Drugmart but I cant seem to find it .. where did u get yours?
@meepocow, hahaha! I hadn't even thought of those types of skin problems, that would be gross. You had said before you were working on research, are you still doing that?
Do you know anything about LUSH's vanishing cream moisturizer? I've been trying to decide whether to buy it or not (it's pricey, about $40) or if I should just stick to a drugstore moisturizer ..
@xSuika I've heard of it but haven't tried it. I agree, it is quite pricey for what it is and the amount you get. It also contains essential oils which are irritating more often than they are soothing. I'd suggest a bare bones drugstore moisturizer and splurging on acne treatments, vitamin C serum, and a good sunscreen. =)
@athena2046 I find the AHA products from NeoStrata to be the best. They are reliable, packaged in an effective vehicle, and, most importantly, don't contain additional active ingredients, fragrance, or colorants. Stay away with AHAs combined with other ingredients like witch hazel, since they can irritate the skin. I love NeoStrata because they have a 'level' system so you can start low with your AHAs and work up to reduce irritation.
So, I have a lotion moisturizer, and a thin acne "treatment" gel...which one should I put on first? I don't put the treatment gel on my whole face, just on specific areas (T-zone) where I get acne. Should I put the moisturizer on first, or the treatment?
This may seem like an obvious question, but I've heard a lot of different opinions and just wanted to ask yours.
@coolcardboard Always put active ingredients directly on the skin after cleansing; otherwise, your moisturizer will act as a barrier to penetration. apply your treatment gel to the affected areas, allow 5-10 minutes to absorb, then top up with your moisturizer on the entire face (including where you put your treatment gel). Don't ever mix the two products (or apply them one directly after the other), as this will greatly decrease the efficacy of your acne treatment. Hope that helps!
Great video!!!! It's surprising how much of this is down to common sense, saying that I really need to review my skincare routine and try to focus on what my skin needs to be the best it can be. Can't wait till you do a sun protection one. Could you please include info on the safety and efficacy of mineral block vs. chemical sun protection?
@DeeqaG I'm planning to do this soon, but there is a lot of info to sift through! I agree, many people spend so much more than they need to on serums and elixers that have no scientific basis for efficacy!
With vitamin C products, aren't you suppose to only use it at night because any contact to sunlight will cause it to be ineffective? I think I read it somewhere before...
@fionaman Yup, that's right. I only use mine at night, to repair any free-radical damage I may have incurred during the day despite my sunscreen. =) That's why Vitamin C-containing sunscreens are mostly rubbish, unless they've found a way to stabilize it.. highly suspect, though!
I love this video. I still have yet to find a good moisturizer for my face. Alot of the time I put the moisturizer on it and it just dries up on my skin in huge flakes. not sure why because I wash my face before I put on the moisturizer. Do you know of any good exfoliating creams for dry skin? I literally got dry skin patches on my face and I have no idea how to get them off. I tried a exfoliater with microbeads with a small facial brush and it still does nothing for me. I need a doctor =(
@jdomakeup I would suggest a gentle cleanser (Vichy 3-in-1 for makeup, SpectroJel for everything else) and a very gentle exfoliator to get rid of dead skin. If you're super sensitive, I find that using ground oatmeal works very well to sooth the skin. Make a wet paste, apply, let dry 5-10 minutes, then rinse off while slowly massaging into the skin. Follow with a thick, moisturizing cream like the Cetaphil Cream. =) Let me know how that works!
@meepocow i am pretty sure i am allergic to oatmeal. i took an aveeno oatmeal bath a few years ago and i came out all itchy. i will try the other cleansers and creams. i have used spectro jel before and it was really nice. i don't know why i stopped using it.
@tatalu I don't, haha! Although I keep hearing the merits of it from other people, I don't know if I have enough to contribute there. =) I'll think about it, though!
@scars1109 All of the products you can get at Shoppers Drug Mart except for the Retin-A-Micro. You need a dermatologist or family doctor to write you a prescription.
*sigh* I love her videos, they're always so informative. Agreed @funkimunkiee, dermatology would suit her, but I understand too.. somethings are just a passion you like having on the side.
You look awesome as always! Can't wait for the next one :D
@blitherness Thanks, hun! I don't know how I'd do in dermatology, especially if someone comes in with like an oozing sore or something.. eww! Not everyone can come in with just a pimple here or there, haha!
i actually travel from the west coast to the east coast. so there is a change of weather. i noticed that now that im back to west coast hot weather my skin gets really oily. considerign this and after watching the video. Do u suggest that a use a different moisterizer due to the cold and hot weather??? i currently use just a lotion. maybe i should try something else? any tips would be appreciated.
@Paola28 Definitely. The east coast tends to be more humid, and this is really quite good for the skin (people in Scotland have among the best skin due to the high moisture content in the air). Just as you should switch up moisturizers with the season, if you find there is a noticeable difference in climate between areas then you should try a different moisturizer. Tailor it to your needs!
Is it alright if the moisturizer contains SPF? Will it be just as effective or should I go buy a separate one and what quality? Thanks for the vid! So helpful <3
@SkysongOfSerenity SPF moisturizers are great for the daytime since they fulfill two purposes and don't dilute the SPF. They are designed to form a 'shield' over your face, though, and are not suitable for nighttime. Find a basic moisturizer like discussed in the video for nighttime =).
