  • one of the best vh songs ever, i like this version, is there a better quality one of this song from this era,

  • For fuck's sake....this is Roth's song....don't cheese it up any worse.

  • Don't they know david lee roth is only one can the song, it's dave's lyrics Roth Rules! like my shirt says

  • i would say this is the next best thing besides roth, to see them do these classics again, van halen really did some great old songs that hagar wouldn't sing, cherone does a good job to,

  • It's just not the same without, "I forgot the f***ing words!"

  • yeah from the US Festival!!!!! 1983 very observant!!!

  • I saw them in Philly on this tour and Eddie was really on top of it. He was playing crazy (good). I hope he can still play.

  • Don't get uptight!

  • Thanks for posting this' I have seen Roth,Hagar, and Cherone with Van halen. Gary got a bad rap from fans who refused to give him a chance. At Alpine valley in wisconsin on this tour Van halen smoked and the whole band was on fire.

  • @MAGIK5476 one of al's nicest kits

  • @sparkles67 Van halen will live forever and be one of the most important

rock bands ever. I never chose sides on the singers because i figured all van halen

is good. This tour got badmouthed by people that weren't there. They were incredible

at Alpine in 98. and the clips from australia are great.,

  • Hey, Gary remembered the fuckin' words!

  • awesome job ! thanks bro !

  • Dave RULES ---- Gary and Sammy were just pretenders

  • Dave is the man FOOLS

  • this would have been a lot better of a tour to see them on, after sammy wouldn't do the classic van halen tunes, this song is one of there best, they never even came close to doing anything this good with sammy,

  • Gary did a good job on these tunes! Keep posting!! He was pretty hyperactive on stage...but it was nice to hear these songs again. Anything is better than David Lee (i'm a douche bag) Roth. His ego kills it for me.

  • the best no DLr distractions

    eddie soo fudged up

    best tour

  • How some people say that Gary in van halen sucks, is beyond me. He's an amazing performer

  • Gary does a great job here. Probably better than Dave could do (even in his prime).

  • take gary of sammy any day of the week

  • This is the last tour Eddie played worth a shit. I saw this tour twice. Musically it was perfect!

  • DONT READ THIS CAUSE IT ACTUALY WORKS. YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST POSSIBLE FRIDAY BY THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. THIS IS SO SCARY CAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS

  • man eddie is freakin flying here, he actually is playing the song note for note like it should sound. clean and clear. the solo sounds great. compare it to the 07 tour not even close 98 sounds way better!

  • To continue from my post below....years ago I read an interview with Eddie in one of the guitar mag's where he was asked about a solo album. His response was that he was quite satisfied getting out what he wanted musically in VH, but if he had to do a solo album he said most VH fans wouldn't get it, that it would be to weird and then laughed int he interview. Well, maybe VH III should have been his "solo album"...maybe people would have understood it more as a side project.

  • If you want Gary's opinion of his time with VH and the VH III album and tour, there is an interview here on youtube with Eddie Trunk. Looking back, Gary wished they had did a tour together before an album, even just a club tour...get a feel for each other before writing an album. Everything about that album was different such as using Mike Post to produce it...not a good choice..etc.

  • VHIII may not have been there best album but you have to admit Gary did put on a great stage show and brought the roth songs back to life

  • @rebirth64 The VH III tour sure did have Eddie playing well....the entire band played well. I enjoyed Gary's voice in Extreme but to me it didn't come out quite right on the VH III album. I think using Mike Post as a producer was a bad choice....the guy does tv/movie music for godsakes...and probably VH III was rushed and not thought out well. As for the tour, like I said they all played well and nice they did many old VH tunes...but Gary's antics and behaviour onstage were a bit weird.

  • VHIII may not have been there best album but you have to admit Gary did put on a great stage show and brought the roth songs back to life

  • what the hell happend to Eddie. On all these clips, he's still got it. way better than the boring sammy era. Great goddamn stuff. After this period he seemed to go off the deep end. I gotta believe drugs fucked up his motor skills.

  • @Spankityspank1 But Dave is still better than Gary

  • Gary did great with it! Thanks for posting!

  • This tune should be played at all VH shows, not matter who the damn singer is.

Sam would have tore this sucker up if he had tried and actually put effort into it.

DLR did a great job with it on the 2007 tour.

Gotta give Gary credit, he was willing to sing the other guys songs and actually try his best with it.

  • Yeah this ROCKS!

  • Atleast he's not wearin the Assless Chaps haha

  • whats wrong with it? it sounds pretty good actually.

  • This is actually not half bad at all...

  • Could be the greatest pinch-harmonic Ive ever heard at 1:08

  • eddie sounds great here!

  • Is this the....... gay version?

  • I think this is a good version by Gary Cherone...and it's always nice watching the Van halen boys play this song... thanks for posting..

  • Not bad I remember when I saw gary and VH at the Garden in Boston. It was a good time. Oh i saw them at Great Woods when gary lost his voice

  • Well done! I love all VH. Roth, Hagar and Cherone! Like them all, some or none they all brought something great to VH!

  • @syckoman76 I'm with ya.

  • except for cherone...fucking incredible!!!!!!!!!! i was there in sacramento!!!!! 98 was the best vh concert i have been too.saw em in 86' 98' and roth reunion.

  • This tour kicked ass, saw em front row in front of Eddie, it was great!!!!

  • Actually a good version!!!

  • Still haven't figured out what attracted Ed, Alex and then Mike to hire Gary for Van Halen. Never did think he was a fit for their sound and style. Does anyone have any kind of an answer? Thanx!

  • Note to self.....If I ever need to really fag-up a song...Hire Gary Cherone to sing it

  • I never cared for Cherone but atleast he remembered the words!! Roth fucked this song up everytime in concert!!!

  • Fuck does Eddie sound raw!!!! Great tone!!! Is that Adnoyda l in the front row....drinking piss from 5 males??? Yes it is Pablo pissing on him again!!!! LOL

  • Gary's a better singer and performer than Hagar was. He brought out the old stuff that Hagar wouldn't (couldn't) do, and was really lively onstage and energetic. So what if it looked like a cover band? I'd rather see a cover band put on a great show than the original band looking like they don't want to be there.

  • @SpaceBear77

Gary better than Sammy. You are dumb. I just listened to an interview done by Gary himself where he says he cannot sing nearly as well and high as Sammy. Put down the crack pipe and open your ears. I have never heard Gary sound good as Sammy ever!

  • @rickinick Gary's humble. I've never been a Sammy fan, so maybe I'm just biased.

  • god cherone sucks..

  • cherone did roth songs better then hagar , he actually put effort in and actually showed respect 4 the songs n the fans .he was a better performer then hagar , hagar was a goose later on , it was embaressing. he was great in lwoan , then see him in rh rn its awful

  • @downincognito76 And looking at Sammy Hagar just pisses you off automatically, at least it does for me.

  • what is this? some side project VH did with another singer?? sharone is not on the same lvl as the other guys..not even close

  • Killer Tour!!!

  • one of the few songs that sound good with gary cherone with VH

  • dudes gary didnt do a bad job here

  • @watdascrew He didn't do a bad job with what he was put into and what he brought to the table. I just don't see why he was the man hired and why couldn't they get anyone better? After all, they are Van Halen, the biggest hard rock group of all time!!

Seems there would be millions lined up for the gig and they could have done better. I don't know. Maybe cause Ed was pretty wasted himself and too busy living it up to really care at the time.

  • @MrPetercar1 After the MTV appearance in 96, I think literally anyone but Dave would've been accepted. The other people they were considering were guys like Mitch Mitchell...that would've really been shooting yourself in the foot.

  • @MrPetercar1 lol Mitch Mitchell? What am I talking about. Meant Mitch Malloy. haha.

  • nobody could do anything better then dave

  • probely better then sammy could do it

  • i liked this version of van halen ,its good and i seen some sammy shows from recent times, they kind of are not great,i seen some roth shows on you tube, there not bad at all

  • yeah

  • evh alwayz had aweome shit....sound awesome but this tone is alittle dry.....

dont ya'll think sooo....but dude i luv evh rock on

  • That was such a GREAT show! I was @ that one in Philly in 98... I saw em 5 times that yr just because I missed hearing the old Dave tunes! Gary definitely gave them their justice.

  • Ed's tone rocks in this!

  • Gary sang that song better then the "new" dave.

I thought eddie was sounding as good as ever on this tour. Saw them in Indy and had 7th row on eddies side of the stage.. I was blown away!

  • Cherone is better suited for Queen than Van Halen, though I saw the VH3 tour....it kicked ass, the album however sucked ass

  • this was incredible , yeah cherone never sooted the band , now they act like he was never in the band

  • Cherone is a very capable singer, just not a good fit. But goddamn, the band sounded KILLER during this era.

  • Eddie is sounding fucking bad ass here! Ed really re-generated himself for this time and was sounding like his older days just modernized.....as far as Gary....well his personality didn't jive or something...he sang ok though and that album was good

  • "Baby pleeeeeease..." <--Ok that's pretty GAY Gary!

Thanks for vocally destroying a great song homo!!

  • they had a very DRY sound on this tour

  • Well,

    This was painful...

  • gary's not my favorite but i thought he worked his ass off on this tour.van halen were absolutely on fire on this tour, they got their raw roots back and it looked and sounded like they enjoyed it.

  • Gary Cherone is a tool. Can't we just pretend VHIII didn't happen.

  • Exactly, this tour was GREAT!! Best of VH = new stuff, saw this tour 3 times. Gary is very cool...He gets a bad rap, though..

  • gary kicked ass on this tour--saw it.

At least he wanted to sing the old VH stuff.

  • gary has a great rock n roll voice its like...shoot me for this.. very little richard-like in alot of ways with his shouts...i dont really have any issue with the gary sherone VH..van hagar sucked ass though sammy fucks up all the lyrics and hes just plain goofy to me..sue me i dont give a fuck

  • dont bad mouth Sammy. He's awesome!

The most level headed frontman VH had.

  • At least the Van Halen 3 tour let fans hear some old Dave tunes that hadnt been played since 84!

  • At least the Van Halen 3 tour let some of the old Dave songs be heard again!

  • what?

  • he's just yelling...not his fault eddy goes through lead singers like candy

  • man keep posting VH3 videos please, Gary is awesome, don't mind the people that don't like it, I love VH3!

  • i hate cherone and wat he did to my fave band but honestly this is pretty tight

  • Ecch, Gary Cherone is so lame, he makes me want to throw up.

  • ecch, why dont you go fuck yourself and go listen to your gay music cocksucker...

  • On base? You mean like in baseball? and bussines? Whats wrong with their bus? And fake van halen, you mean like clones?

  • These guy is probably crab but you can see clearly that with Michael Anthony the band still in the bussines. Now i know these hurt but the band with Eddie's kid on base is not Van Halen is like a fake Van Halen.

  • Gary looks like Ricky Martin.

  • gary's a homo

  • you know that eddie was thinking... what the hell did we do when we invited this queer to be in the band?!?!?!?

  • it wasnt eddie, acually eddie like the guy, it was micheal anthony who hated him, and i cant blam him the guy is a fuckin joke, this isnt van halen, what this is, is sad

  • yo gary's singing in this song is nasty! its good!

  • I thought Cherone and the band would have figured it out with another album, the live stuff they did was awesome. Gary was never gonna fill the shoes before him, but he could have been really good with this band, I think he challenged them.

  • Aw, poor Gary... He just wasn't good in Van Halen. I do like him in Extreme, too bad their most famous song is "More Than Words"... geez.

  • Did you expect VH to make another Fair Waring alnum with him or what. If you ever picked up an Extreme album you would know that their music is more the the song more than words. They are fairly hard. Even Eddie said that Gary was the first real singer that he had in the band.

  • GOD Gary sings like a bratty rich Girl

  • Saw VH in St.Louis couple months ago, seen all the YouTubes...

Ed is more on top of his game in this video than on the recent tour. Which is amazing none the less.

Poor Gary. Just a bad choice. Live and learn I guess.

  • i just got that throw up taste in the back of my mouth.

  • not working 4 me the band sounds great but dlr is the only person for this song in my opinion cherone is ok and this is good but its not the same as when roth sings it it cant be taken away

  • i take back all the shit i said about Sammy

  • Every time he says "Baby Pleeease!" I die a little inside.

  • Yeah, that is the one part on this song that Gary sounds terrible in. If he would have sang "Baby Please" normal, it would have sounded great.

  • can sing .

  • I like Gary, he was a talented singer and the only one with enough character to leave the band without any fighting; I can respect that. He's also got some good solo stuff right now. I think he should have been put in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame when they inducted the rest of the band.

  • it needs dave

  • you mean mr "i forgot the words"?

  • thats part of the show in case you dont have clue!its all about the vibe of good time party rock ..............get it?

  • daves gay vibe never really did anything for me,its all about eddie when it comes to this band......got it?

  • got it? whats my name ?!its all about eddie and daves chemistry i hpoe you got that peter!

  • on daves side thats true, check out that stellar solo career but as for me i really didnt miss dave when he wasnt around.the guy cant sing live and dresses like liberace.

  • this guy is crap, roth and sammy where gods

  • This song is fuckin' on fire. The band is tight.

    Cherone sucks.

  • Shit without Dave!!!!

  • who is "Von Holen"??

  • hahaha...that was good...

  • They look so much better on stage ten years ago than they do on the current tour. I think it mostly has to do with : Ed's long hair, Mike with the band, more energetic movement from the band, and Ed's more accurate playing.

  • listen this song on this tour - sound greaT !!!!- ED STILL THE BEST

  • Freddie Murcury is alive! Man, Gary could do it live for VH. I sometimes like VHIII. I feel so gay for thinking that.

  • you really are gay then

  • Ed's playing was awesome on this tour.

  • =VH= for life!

  • I wish I would have caught this tour so I could say I've seen all three eras. Gary did a good job. It's too bad the record wasn't that good. Still, it's great Roth is back. It's long overdue

  • The audio was from a radio broadcast. A show played in Philly on Gary's birthday. The video looks to be taken from MTV live from the 10 Spot Australia show.

  • at least Gary tried, Sammy bassicly said "no"

  • Best thing I enjoyed of the Cherone era VH was that they opened up the catalog to the beginning and Gary sure put good effort into this Roth classic.

  • Whats up with the audio and the video going together.

  • At least Gary had the ballz to sing this tune. Sammy didn't...

  • you should destroy ALL cherone footage,THE END!!

  • To see how Romeo Delight is supposed to be sung, see the vid posted by rootzboy of their recent Toronto show. Good stuff.

  • Very good! I miss this lineup. I wish I could've seen these guys on tour.

  • I saw this tour twice, once front row, and I can honestly say it was THE best VH show Ive seen out of about 20, Sammy, Dave, period. Garys cool, cut em some slack!!

  • I love van halen III bitches. Different but awesome.

  • Great song. I think VH3 was very underrated. I still listen to it.

  • Man, this is so hard to listen to. This is my number 1 fave VH song, and the vocals suck. But the band sounds great. And Mike's vocals are tops. I still think of VHIII as the worst ever album I can think of by a band who'd once been great. Even worse than post 1980's Rolling Stones.

  • Agreed,Gary Cherone is whining the vocals...

  • Fuckin Christ.....listen to 0:38 to 0:43 when Cherone sings "baby, pleeeaaase!"....now that's fuckin gay-ass shit! Cherone was such a complete tool in VH.....makes you wonder how drunk Eddie had to be to hire this no-talent queer? This will go down as one of the biggest embarrassments in rock history. Thank sweet God above that mighty Diamond Dave is back in Halen to set things straight again!!!!!!!!

  • You know what this is? VAN HALEN KAROAKE. Plain and simple. Ed and the band were rockin' but shit I know people who sing better than this guy and they arent even professional vocalists. THIS WAS AN AWFUL VENTURE AND MISTAKE FOR THIS BAND PERIOD.

  • YES! Karaoke indeed! And what's with the houndog leg shaking? DLR saved the day

  • Your an idiot, I just saw them two weeks ago and Dave can sing live. If you want proof check out my videos.

  • could'nt tell from the shitty audio.

  • this actually the best performance of romeo delight i've ever seen. Dave was good on record but here and there his drunkenness would affect the show

  • sam is one of my fave performers ever BUT...would he ever have done this tune or any of the other crusty shit gary did? nah

  • your right zackmessick... gary was an aweful fit for VH and they realized this as well !

  • you must notice how gary is always trying to show energy and pose like a rockstar. its too much. he looks like a queer. he needs to chill and be a little more real. gay.

  • You almost make sense, until the inevitable gay comments make you sound stupid.

  • bite me sissy boy.

  • Ha, I stand corrected. You must know a lot about the homosexual lifestyle. I'm not into it myself, but hey, you should follow your heart.

  • how lucky is gary cherone...nuno and edward, two amazing players

  • i think there is lip sinking on this song nobody is singing on some of it but you hear somebody?????

  • no, I just didnt have the video, so the audio is placed over video of them singing a different song

  • i did,nt think you all would lip sink i just noticed the singing and nobody moving there lips sorry did,nt no am going to indianapoli can,t wait!!!to see the show at conseco field house october sorry your #1 FAN FROM DRY RIDGE KY!!!!

  • I like VHIII (didn't like it at first) and I love Cherone as a singer...but he really didn't fit the mix. It sounds like he is screaming on the whole album. It isn't 'pleasant' if you know what I mean.

He has a great voice, but it really worked with Extreme much better than with VH. I guess stuff just works out or it doesn't in a band.

  • fuck Cherone...he doesnt fit in Van Wanker.

  • Man, Eddie sounds just wicked on this song! That's the best live version of Romeo Delight I've heard!

  • Great song. At least they played cool stuff that year.

  • cherone... he was not a good fit for van halen. im not sure what it is. he has a decent voice, and has enormous energy on stage, but he jsut doesnt fit.

  • Cherone ain't a puss! He's a great singer but just not an exact fit for VH. Extreme should reform, they're a great band. Gotta go with Hagar or Roth though. The III Tour was great. Ed was great, a lotta better than the horrible '04 tour in his drunken Smoking Loon wine state. III is kinda like Fair Warning, esp. with Al's tom sound. Maybe Cherone should have joined after a tour w/ VH, then release a record.

  • im not a gary fan but i saw this tour it was excellent, ed sounded great

  • Who keeps posting VH with this puss singing, stop...

  • Remember how friggin fast Ed played hang em high and romeo delight in concert back in the 80's......damn Gary cannot hang with this tune.

  • You guys are laughable. You have in your head that its cool to knock Cherone for some reason. Did you even listen to the track and the vocals? Find a version of Roth trying to do this song live and listen to it. Gary blows it away. VH III is towards the bottom of my list of favorite VH albums, but anyone who says that Roth did VH tunes better live the Gary either hasn't heard Gary live or hasn't heard Roth live.

  • vh fans dont cut on cherone just to be goons, gary was good in extreme with his own genre. van halen isnt the place for his style. roth sucked live sometimes and forgot the words but he was still ROTH!

  • roth never forgot the words, it was all part of his stage shtick. check out all the romeo delight vids live in 82 and 83. i think gary is a good singer, but i don't think he n vh quite mixed. and since they parted ways so early, we'll never know if they had allowed more time to gel as a band if they woulda created some good tunes.

  • Gary Sucks!! Roth can actually put it over. If u get me!!! Roth is entertaining and can half sing. Hagar would kill roth in singing but roth wins hands down just because he's roth and he's a great front man!!!

Cherones got nothing! i'm judging him by this clip! and he sucks!!!

  • For the few not in the know as seen posted here... Van Halen III is referring to Van Halen with Gary Cherone as the lead singer NOT the Van Halen III album Women and Children First. This has got to be the best song Cherone did with Van Halen I've seen and even still he get's lame half way through. Anything else I've seen him in with VH the dude prances around like that Velvet Revolver lead singer... Seriously fay Brokeback Fashion!

  • WE all know III was a joke but lets face it the 98 tour brought out some old old and very old classics. I dug it.

  • Love this song in the Roth days. Still kicks ass no matter who sings.

  • Great video. Van Halen was and always will be great no matter who's fronting the band. Gary gets bad mouthed, but he brought the band it's highest level of musicianship ever. Sadly, it went over most VH fans heads. VHIII is a GREAT fuckin' album. Free your mind of what you WANT VH to be and you'll hear something incredible. Do you HONESTLY fuckin thing Eddie would consider playing with anyone subpar??? He knew what he had with Gary but most of the fans didn't. Shame.

  • i have to agree that Van Halen 3 was a great album. hey what song from the album do u like the most?
