  • No mistaking that voice -- one of Clay's earliest recordings -- good job with the montage.

  • Kind of funny that's he's gay now. Hahaha.

  • @mcmftw What do you mean now? He's been gay.

  • yeah this was written by and primarily performed by Stephen, but this one isn't

  • I love his voice on this, and yes it is him singing this when he was about 19 yrs old.

  • i love his voice when he doesn't try so hard to sing..

he should sing with this voice tone more often!

  • wrong xShiningx, it is Clay singing!! He's awesome!!!

  • I'm sorry to disappoint you, but that is not Clay singing that song. That is an original by Steven Curtis Chapman. Yes, Clay did sing it with him during a concert, but that is not a recording of it...

  • clay rocks!

  • This seems disgraceful, as if Clay deliberately ripped the exact version of SCC's and just replaced Steven's vocals with his own. I am not saying Clay can't sing, I just think he should have had another band of instrumentalists back him up instead of him borrowing from an already recorded rendition of the song.

  • It's called Karaoke.

  • I understand, but still I think an artist should use his own group of instrumentalists when covering another artist's song so that it doesn't sound plagiarized.

  • Clay recorded this in one of the studio sessions his mom paid for as a gift when he was 19..

    it was before idol.

  • well sometimes when you want to record but you have no money to hire the band then you have to resort to using a backing track. besides...you have to find the right musicians, the right producer(s), take time to make sure they know the song, have them come in to the studio and load their gear in, rehearse a million times, possibly go through take after take until everything is perfect. it adds up in cash money.

  • Ok, I get it LOL. No one else needs to inform me any further, but thanks for the input.

  • whoa clay sounds swweet. lovin the shirt tugs

  • Take a bow... This is outstanding work... Thank you so much for the hard work and sharing...

  • ok thanks.... god i LOVE this song

  • i normally dont like christian music but his voice is amazing... i absolutly love this song... does anyone know if you can get this anywhere on cd or cassette or anything?

  • Can't remember how I did it but I think I googled it, then transferred it to itunes and then copied on a cd and my ipod. He sings this wonderfully. Just love than man!! Will see him this summer in Atlanta and Dallas -- YEAH!

  • What did you have to Google to find this???

  • i thought Steven curtis chapman sang this song. is it being credited to clay now?

  • Clay made a demo and is a huge fan of SCC. SCC had Clay make a surprise appearance at his concert in NC a couple of weeks ago and they did a duet of this.

  • Amazing!

  • This is awesome- I love to hear him sing Christian songs (of course, being a Christian myself I suppose that plays a part). I love listening to Clay no matter what he sings. Thanks for posting.

  • Oh yes! This sure is Clay - I have this recording and he sings it great!

  • Sorry but that is not Clay singing this song. I have heard him sing this on an earlier recording, and it is not him

  • You are very, very wrong- this IS Clay singing TGA. This is the only recording he did of this song. He was 19 years old and his mother paid for time in a recording studio. This song is from one of two cassettes he recorded that day.

  • This is Clay singing this. It was a song he did record at a studio which his mother paid for.

  • I have this audio from his early demo recordings . He was fantastic even back then . I haven't listened to it in awhile . Thanks for the reminder .

  • It is clay. I love his version of this song. Great montage.

  • Beautiful sunday..if i could, i'd give it 10 stars (at one time).. it is that good. Nice to watch after seeing the snippet with Steven Curtis Chapman from last night's concert.. Thanks

  • I absolutely love this video...I love hearing Clay sing Christian songs. There is such a loving quality to his voice when he sings a Christian song. I love the Video and the pictures chosen really spoke of his journey..love it, love it, love it. I want a download of this to treasure

  • luvumusix--that is most definitely without question Clay. It's on one of two demo CDs he recorded many years ago.

  • WOW! GREAT song by a GREAT ENTERTAINER!

  • Clay sang this last night on stage with Steven Curtis Chapman. Steven was doing a concert and invited clay to sing this song with him.

  • LOVE IT! I'd never heard this sung by Clay before! THANK YOU!

  • Sunday NYC,

This is wonderful! Are you psychic? Clay just sang this in concert with Steven Curtis Chapman last night!

    Great montage, too!

    Thanks,

    Annie

  • I had this song a while back and lost it. Thanks for posting it again and enjoyed all the photos....

  • I love to hear Clay sing this. I have a copy of it

and wouldn't take anything for it. To think he sang this before Idol was even thought of. Great Montage and Clay is the only Idol there will ever be as far as I'm concerned.

and yes he can sing anything absolutely anything.

  • Great job with your montage. I'v always loved this song, Clay sings it with such passion. Its not the kind of music I usually listen to (Christian) but I

love hearing him sing this....and anything else.

  • Is there any type of song Clay CAN'T sing??? What a talent he has!

  • NOPE!!!

  • YEP!. It is on his pre Idol Demo album. Do you homeowork.

  • Sorry. I realize that the answer NOPE was to "Is there anything Clay can't Sing/ OOPS. NOPE is right.

  • Awesome Sunday!! Clay's Incredible on this song!!

  • That's not Clay.

  • Yes, it is Clay it is something he recorded pre-Idol, and last night he did sing this song with Steven Curtis Chapman. Steven, invited Clay to sing this song with him last night because Clay was at the show.

  • Yes it is. He was 19 years old when he recorded this. What makes you think it is NOT Clay?? Anyone who has followed his music knows d*** well it is Clay.

  • That was beautiful! I think Clay recorded this in one of the studio sessions his mom paid for as a gift when he was in late h.s. or early college.

  • The song is about 15 years old from Steven Curtis Chapman.

  • I enjoyed this very much! Can you tell us more about the song -- how old was Clay when he recorded this, and was it part of a show? Are there any more old recordings like this that we can listen to?

  • Clay was 19. This is from one of three pre Idol albums. Check out clackunlimted dot com. Won't allow the actual link. Enjoy some other early favorites.

  • really nice pictures loved the fire works happy 4th to clay, our fantastic clack gatherers, and all the members of the Clay Nation
