@motoxchamp321 i only say that becuase it came out awesome.. perhaps you can reply to this comment with a step by step. like did you wet sand between coats. how many coats? did you wet sand final coat then buff with a compund.. thats where i keep gettin messed up because i want it to shine as much as possible and im not sure if you should sand between coats. the sand the final then buff or just buf.. haha.please let me kno. that yj looks great
Looks good ... wish more people would do follow up videos on their rustoleum paint jobs. i've done a few rustoleum paint jobs. but, always sold the cars right afterwards. so, i never seen the paint job cure / flash / harden. heard it takes like a month. also, i've never did a final wet sanding yet either. so, i still don't know how good a rustoleum paint can be. getting ready to spray my dodge dakota rustoleum smoke grey. painting it, to sell it ... lol
@capecodcuda i will do a follow up next time i wash it....there is a cupple small spots where it started rusting again(my falt not the paint) and a imperfection where someone hit my hood shortly after its been painted.didint have time to repaint my hood so i just hit it with a rattlecan.but i wax my jeep 4 times a year with that wax in the vid,and as far as the finish it still just as nice as in the video and i have no clearcoat ,
did you wet sand between coats? or just did 6 coats of a 50/50 mix and buff after you were finished. I'm very impressed with your results. a step by step would be fly.
So did you figure out what was causing the bubbling? Im looking at a z71 and it has a decent paint job but its white and i want it dark blue or black. I just dont wanna try this and ruin the paint job that is on it now
seriously, how do you get a mirror shine like that. i am trying everything with my rustoleum and can't get near to that mirror? it shines decent but the reflection is horrible. can you help me?
well yeah it was kind of like that. it was a very dull look with no shine at all after i buff it. i seriously can't get a mirror shine like that no matter what i tried. how many coats did you do? my mix is about 50/50
@jschristian44 i did about 6 coats...but if i ever do it again i might go 8-10 coats.my mix was abou t50/50 too what did u use to buff it? and how long did u wait after u painted it?
@motoxchamp321 i am at about 6 coats of black. i used my orbital buffer with wool pad or terry cloth pad then a microfiber pad to buff it clean. this was after i wetsanded with 2000 grit. i waited like a day after i painted the last coat to sand it and buff it. the paint wasnt sticky so i thought it was dry.
@jschristian44 that orbital buffer ,is that one of those that just shakes? it dosent realy spin fast? cuzz thats what i used at first it didint work at all....i buffed mine with a cheap foam pad from autozone one that just pops in my electric drill....
at first i had like a 8" round attachment to my drill. that thing just basically shook. i got a ryobi hand polisher and that thing actually spins. i know what you mean. the spinning is so much better.
@motoxchamp321 did you use any compound on your buffing pad? im new at this lol i got my paint just need alil instruction from somebody that knows what they are talking about.
@thrasherrash yea that "Meguiar's Ultimate Compound" u can find it at any autoparts store...i have never used anything else, but iv good things about it and it worked awesome for me.when u start buffing i would start on the hood or a door, that way if u mess it up it wont take long to repaint it,what kinda paint do u have? and how are u applying it?
Awesome!
