Her voice sounds like that of a sorority girl. But she's got musical intelligence, I think she's certainly much smarter than the average sorority girl, LOL.
Oistrakh > .... she's been playing this piece since she was little? When did she learn to hack through it like she's chopping down a tree? =P =P Me still love Sarah.
One of the best recent perfomances of this concerto. For all those who love Dvorak, watch a recording of his cello concerto with Rostropovich and Giulini conducting also posted here on YouTube, it's absolutely amazing!
This performance must have been in 2005 or early 2006 because I own Sarah Chang's recording of the Shostakovitch concerto with Sir Simon Rattel. I bought it when I went to watch her perform the Four Seasons last fall. (she autographed the cd!) It's a fabulous cd; she really shines on the Shostakovitch and Prokofiev. Chang is so humble and down to earth! Thanks for sharing the interview!
I think that this performance was more early 2002 when the album Fire and Ice was released. In the interview she states that she just recorded her Carmen album
Hi, pppsssssssss, I was there so I missed this interview with Charles Hazlewood, a young conductor. Definitely, at the Royal Albert Hall, 8th September 2004. Miss Chang often come to the Proms in the first week of September. She has played Dvorak before, on 1st Sept. 2001, the night England beat Germany 5-1 in football. She was wearing green that year.
This performance was at Royal Albert Hall, London, on 8th September 2004. 8th September was Dvorak's birthday. This concert (Prom 70) was one of the BBC Proms. Miss Chang is a Prom regular. We love her.
i like how she like actually has a personality, unlike most classical musicians...

I hope I can be like Sarah Chang when I'm older. Hopefully I can get a solo career, just on cello, not violin. :p

Its true whats she says at 3:45
The bow loses a lot of hairs :)

@Welther47
Who cares about the bow hairs? As long as Sarah was willing to share a few of her own hairs with me,
she could leave the violin at home.

I know, but at least you're worldly enough to get the point.

HAHA, funny. I thought she was aggressive, too. But, hey, if people enjoyed it, they enjoyed it.

The very first time I watched her last year at Youtube playing Zigeunerweisen by Sarasate, I fell in love with her.

But judging from her comments in her interview, if you were her boyfriend you'd probably spend most of the time watching her sleep, lol.

bow sheading just happens suddenly. I was playing the violin the other day and the bow hair just kept sheading every 1 minute.

I'm amazed at her talkativeness and her humbleness as well. But though she's a great role model, I'd rather hear her playing.
