Your tone is quite nice, try working the volume knob or switch between neck and bridge for different tones. Add a little bounce into the initial phrase... and put on a moustache and a hat and nobody'll tell the difference :D Great job!
@leozingy As I recall, Carlos didn't wear a hat back then. You have to become really special before you're allowed to wear a hat. Like a PhD type professorship type thing....Carlos was just doing post-grad studies in the art of sublime and controlled feedback about the time of Samba Pa Ti...just kidding really. Seriously though, I think he used an SG (Gibbo), then a Yamaha SG2000 and an LP for a bit before going totally PRS.The Mesa Boogie ampification he used was tailor made for him
@Rikk303 Don't worry - I'm quite aware of Santana's phrasing, feel and know about the gear he uses (or had used). Check out my vids if you'd like to see that I've studied his work... thoroughly.
@leozingy looking back at my posting, it seems I forgot to send you big love on a really accurate (Abraxas era) rendition. You well and truly nailed Europa as well. Nice work!
@Rikk303 Thank you very much! Yes, I'm working on that ending now... I finally found a FULL backing track and I'm trying hard to figure out all the wah parts. :)
wow, i never comment on videos, but dude... you f'n rocked! one of my lifetime goals is to be able to play this song at some where around your level... you rock.
a few months later and I'm watching and listening again....still blown away by your version...major hugs my friend x
