Almost all this software is also on any Linux OS that are free. I have Linux Mint , PC-BSD, Ubuntu, Windows 7, and Mac OS on my HP/PC hackintosh. I love how Apple says Mac "It comes with the world’s most advanced OS." when basically it no more advanced than Linux, or BSD. Mac OSX was based on ideas from mkLinux, BSD, and Nextstep .

Mac OS X Leopard has a feature called Stacks that allows you to have a folder in your dock like mine. If you have Leopard, just drag your Applications folder to the dock and you're good to go!

I didn't ask how to use the grid, I asked how he managed to fit so many application icons on to his grid. For example, when I open the grid feature on my 13 inch aluminum I can only fit up to 63 icons inside the grid feature, whereas he can get up to 79 icons inside it. It might be because he has a 17 inch macbook pro.

Well, the most professional is Logic Studio Pro. You could look into the Express version if you're looking to save some money. I don't know much about this field but name Reason comes to my mind. Could look into that. Hope this helps!
