I love the guitar and amp! And BTW, I own a Skank and the BB tele. I have played everything from Pink Floyd to Metalica with it and it sounds great! Don't be so bitter Swirly... Also, this amp sounds great with a greenback.
It took a leap of faith to buy a Zachary, but it was well worth it. I sold my Ibanez and don't regret it one bit. Enjoy!
This is actually the only video with a zachary guitar where I can say that I really like the tone.
You should probably do the rest of the demos for Alex. His demos are a much better advertisement for PRS than for himself, his tone and playing are simply abysmal, and he conveys the message that "If you don't buy a PRS, you'll end up sounding and playing like shit, just like me".
@amusiathread Thank you! Man do I agree. I tried to sit through two of his video's and couldn't believe it. A bunch of fanning of the strings while trying to play some hendrix and trying to impress with his speed which would be ok if he was actually playing something. His sales technique is ridiculous, insults people intelligence by saying if you belong to a guitar forum or shop at GC then your an idiot and not worthy of his overpriced guitar.
zachary guitars suck why wud u buy such a heap of expensive firewood trash? the guy who makes them is over oppinated and self paraising self righteous fagg0t dont play his guitars they suck and you will suck in turn
no i havnt, you have to "qualify" to get a guitar from him! i was like wtf qualify, no maker in the world makes someone qulaify to buy a bit of wood, even if it was offered to me for free, theres nothing appealing.. try ibanez man they are where the game is.
@SwirlyBrokenHearts lol, greatest thing to me is you say nothing against the guitars themselves, just the man who makes them. If you don't like them, fine, don't trash somebody because they do.
yeah his guitars are ugly as sh1t as well i mean seriously and he only builds 12 a year? LOL, he doesnt even add a laquer finish like on an Ibanez or ESP, the fact you have to "qualify" for Andy Csinkys guitars is just comple bullcrap like its his possesion he has part with, that is not a business. this is what is wrong with anti-mainstream builders, their minds are pretty much in their assholes, you should check out the horror show guitar he did pretty much says everything i need2
@SwirlyBrokenHearts totally agree with you mate. if you were gonna have a custom made guitar why would you get one made from ikea furniture that looks like shit? have you seen the tit who makes them on his videos? what a loser, and he bitches off other guitarists! he claims to know what he's talking about when it comes to guitars yet he said he spent 3 grand on a prs thru mail order, haha what a tit! who spends that kinda money on a guitar without trying it first? loser!
exactly what im talking about bro! have you read the story about the Horror Show Guitar? the guy is called Andy Csiky, well Andy is the definition of a retard, trying to run a business with anti-business mentality. words fail me, dont even know where to begin hes so fucking retarded, he purposely scratches and maims this guitar so it looks like dog shit and thinks its "rare art" also have to "qualify" for a guitar WHAT THE FUCK!??!
Im glad someone here agrees with me though so thanks man
.but i found an almost unanamous trend with shitty guitar builders, if they hate painting the wood with laquer or dont use a CNC machine, they suck. another example is patrick hufshcmid guitars. though he gets some pretty awesome pickups from Kent armstrong, get the pickups but stay away from his guitars, these people are just cowboys at the end of the day. people like this guy playing are too dumb to realise.
@SwirlyBrokenHearts: but at leest he spels betre then yoo .. you retard. What mass produced shit guitar do you play? Opinionated superior minds wish to know ...
I play Ibanez, cheap, best RG shape, sound good, play good, look good, whole package. since theyre not custom theyre not the best but darn close. also sometimes "tr00" spelling isnt completely necessary..
Thanks... I like the clean channel on the Skank quite a lot. I have the Skank plugged into the speaker in my Mesa Boogie Rocket 44 which if I recall is a Black Shadow.
Does Zachary Guitars cater to Left Handed players? Does he make guitars that can be played in all genres? I'm a jazz influenced guitarist who has an ambient jazz project but I also play death metal and gore metal, and I'm searching for a guitar that can do it all.
Is it true that before purchasing a ZACHARY, that you had to send Zachary a video of you playing so he could determine if you were worthy of buying and owning one of his guitars?
Well, he doesn't sell his guitars just to make money. If he were in it for the money he wouldn't build each guitar painstakingly by hand. It's like a hobby that he is totally obsessed with. So, he hates the idea that somebody who collects guitars or just learned 3 or 4 chords will buy one of his guitars and hang it on the wall or worse yet modify it, etc. But, to answer you - yes, I sent him many recordings before he sold me a guitar. He doesn't require you to be a great player - just a player.
So how long did the whole process take from the time you made the videos, until the time Zachary deemed you as worthy? Was the guitar already made, or did he begin work on it upon giving you the thumbs up?
Again, it's not about being 'worthy'. He just wants you to show him that you are a player - not a talker, beginner, or collector. If you really do play - it's no big deal. Took about 1+ yrs. I chatted with him for a few months and sent a few casual recordings and then put a deposit down. I just kept in touch talking about music, playing, guitars, etc. Sent more recordings (it's my hobby anyway). Later, he had a guitar almost ready that he thought fit me and my playing. Bam! He was right on.
I see. I'm not even going to ask how much you paid for it. I, myself, wouldn't mind having one of those Alembic John Entwistle "Oxplorer" bass guitars. But at around $10,000 each, I could buy a couple of nice Fender Jazzes and another Rickenbacker, or two, to boot.
That's cool that you have yourself a unique guitar that isn't in heavy circulation like a Gibson or a Fender. That's how those Alembics are. Only 50 were made, and there's a guitar shop in Florida that happens to have one.
Has he refused to sell to anyone who has sent him a "demo" video? I mean, if he doesnt care about the level of playing, just that you play, then I'd think anyone would meet that criteria. And who judges the videos? On his site he says a group of hist customers judges the video. Sorry, but it just sounds like a bizarro marketing thing.
Put it this way, if you have put a lot of time into your playing and take music seriously it will show even if you're not the best player in the world. He's not your typical luthier and takes making his guitars very seriously - almost too seriously perhaps. The degree of commercialization of the industry and mass mentality of many players is what drives him. That's bound to not set well with many folks. But, it's not about the money for him.
That would be a bit much considering they don't really sound that amazing. This zachary guy sounds like a bit of a bigot calling people who don't buy his amp idiots on his website.
Well, it depends what you consider 'amazing'. I wonder how many people would call their favorite amp amazing? I think in the case of amps it's a matter of preference. There will always be tradeoffs. For me the Skank is a great amp because of the combination of size, power, clarity, simplicity, and versatility with the high and low gain channels.

also "handmade" guitars are often mistakened for custom, handmade is false-custom. remember that.. people who see this.

very nice clean tone. will the amp do classic metal Priest, Maiden or Sabbath?

Well, you'll have to decide for yourself based on your needs. You can see all the guitars he has made on his site with sound samples of many....

Well, I wouldn't say he "caters" to anybody in particular but if he agreed to build you a guitar I don't think a lefty would be any problem.
