  • This is straight up magic. Love this opening.

  • 00:45 I want that happen to me someday :D

  • She gets a lot of hangtime on those skips. Gotta be the shoes.

  • this looks awesome! made me want to watch it!

  • Vocaloid Meiko it is one that makes the chorus?

    sorry for my bad english

  • @yenthami11 No Meiko isn't singing :)

  • Wheneever I feel sad I watch this video =)

  • the first inception

  • Susumu Hirasawa's music made this movie extra awesome!

  • I fucking love the shit out of this soundtrack and movie. I really would like to read Yasutaka's novel if it's in english lol

  • @MrQkumber it is. It's... an unusual book though. Very interesting if you're interested in dream psychology because some theory is included in the story, but it's a lot stranger than the film IMO it's not as well structured. I don't regret buying it though, it's still interesting to see the origin of the movie.

  • Tsutsui was a visionary and Kon brought it to the screen with perfection. I love this movie! In fact, I love it so much I did a mockup for the opening sequence with a composition of mine. I know my work will never compare to the original, but still the result was nice. You should give it a listen if you have the time!

  • R.I.P. Satoshi Kon <3

  • I don't know why but i feel so free when i listen to this song <3

  • I remember the first time I saw this movie, after the first few minutes I was like "This is going to be good." Within the first ten seconds of this song I knew I was right.

  • I think this movie is as real as life ever gets.

  • @DrCarl Amen to that, bro.

  • I wish I could slip through reality like Paprika does...

  • Thumbs up if if you watched this video while you were high or cross faded.

  • Rest in peace Satoshi Kon, one of the greatest animation directors of all time.

  • @Hematemesis why do the great ones die so young ;__;

  • I never saw the anime ..and I was browsing and I was like ...this looks like a cool anime for me to watch

  • please remember Yasutaka Tsutsui who is a Japanese novelist

he wrote Paprika in 1993 and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time in 1967

  • @juutarou they are from the same person? wow I loved them both ^^

  • @juutarou

definitely ...he's the guy who created some of the most captivating stories for our lifetime.

  • i cant stop listening to this! omg

  • I never knew that MEIKO was singing this op (lol)

  • With both Paprika and Inception, I kinda get lost about what exactly is going on. I get lost because with all the weird stuff happening, I begin to get kind of disinterested in the movies. I can see how they both could be considered good movies, but I guess they're just not my thing.

  • I love this movie....And I wish I could do what she did in this THAT WOULD BE EPIC

  • rip satoshi T T

  • WOW! I LOVE that! Paprika is driving in the car, then it's the lady (sorry I forget her name) with her hair flowing and then again her, with her hair up in her bun and a stern, cold face. That was so cool, like for a minute there, it was them combined, a she if she could meet "herself" in the middle.

  • This film was fantastic, and I would love to see it again.

  • Did you know that Susumu Hirasawa announced that he used a female vocaloid in the original soundtrack of Paprika on Satoshi Kon's blog. Many fans speculated it was Meiko. However, later Susumu Hirasawa mentioned in a magazine interview that it was Lola.

  • ...My mind is now f**ked, and I love every second of it.

  • What is this about??

  • High Energy, Tons of Disturbing Images, and stuff that already scares me shitless.

  • @1aundulxaldin realy? well its a bit disturbing but this is why the the film is so fantastic and its fantastic scetches.

I have to say Perfect blue was more distrurbing to me than this film. And this one here is a surreal but also wonderfull colorfull.

  • This is better than Inception

  • @morfeoreydelsueno Inception has nothing on Paprika.

  • @morfeoreydelsueno Inception is just live-action Paprika.

  • haha.. i start think about the scen when that fat guy is stuck in the elivator... (I am from sweden)

  • @AkelaTaka95 rofl how are those two things related?!

  • THIS IS MADNESS !!!!! (D<)

no you dumb shit this is mad house productions ( e ___e) good movie good music GOOD ^^

  • That was a total mindf***. And that's only the beginning of the film.

  • and till now, the soundtrack's still my fav :-)

  • i have been searching for the movie for a few months and found it in a store but i think its quite popular in singapore as there is only two left

  • i love this movie! my band name on guitar hero is paprika after this movie. i am a quarter japanese and i am proud of it. any other teenage paprika lovers?

  • 名OPだね。

  • Saw this film in a local cinema recently and loved it. Definitely recommend it.

  • The music really adds to the animation :)

  • ...

This opening is very simple... But it is also awesome! Very. very good!

  • The doll girl scared me in the full movie but then they showed paprika naked and I was happy

  • @mainmasterman lol well a long plot of the movie is dreams and the parade is the killers mind. Thats why its so surreal but in every surreality there is art and satoishi con was a perfectionist in Art of Anime. secoundly paprika is the spice in this film... Yasutaka Tsutsui said it about his novel in the bonus material of the SE... i think i will rebuy the Blue Ray version soon. Yasutaka tsutsui is the brilliant mind beyound this masterpiece too he also wrote The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

  • What is the font that they used for the title itself? Been looking for that...

  • Susumu Hirasawa... THANK YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC!!!

  • Why is it almost impossible to find the intro to this movie as it was intended to be seen? You know, actually fucking finished? Thanks to a bunch of assholes Youtube is littered with scenes of the incomplete and far less impressive version of this film, the pirated version.

  • @Fabio254 are you saying that all the pirates of the world couldn't get their hands on the retail DVD/BD and instead ripped some incomplete version? What's missing anyway, Mr Lawful?

  • @LinchpinPL I'm saying that seemingly everyone that's uploaded clips from the movie to Youtube are from the incomplete and pirated version of the movie. What's missing are quite a bit of the visual effects that make the movie so good and impressive.

  • @Fabio254 The pirates usually use retail DVDs/Blurays as sources. And anime rip and compress great, with very slight drop in quality. Can't say the same about reencoding those rips for youtube in 360p.

  • @LinchpinPL The source for this is a watermarked review copy that for whatever reason is unfinished. I don't know why you felt the need to say the rest of your comment.

  • @Fabio254 holy shit, you're right! I apologize. Big fail on my side. -__-" The video titled "Paprika opening song" is from the proper release. The differences are pretty obvious...

  • @LinchpinPL are there much differences between the blue Ray Version and the DVD SE release?

  • @derblicker got no idea. Only seen the BRrip.

  • @LinchpinPL mm no problem it thougt there is one..

  • To stop the arguments. Paprika was a direct inspiration for inception, you can check the directors wikipedia page.

  • @ohmaiilold You've slightly misunderstood that. In the wikipedia article for Paprika it says: 'Christopher Nolan cited Paprika as an influence on his 2010 feature film, Inception.' Also from the article for Inception: '...also cited the 2006 anime film Paprika by the late Satoshi Kon as an influence on the character Ariadne.' That is probably the only creative link the two movies share, since the plots, settings and concepts are completely different.

  • inception???? its nothing compared to paprika.........it lasts forever in the memories of anime lovers.....

  • @AnthraxXT

I personally don't like anime but I thought this movie was amazing.

  • @DemonPazuzu666 welcome to the anime family then.......

  • people need to understand that paprika and inception ARE NOT THE SAME, the plots are very different...BLACK SWAN AND PERFECT BLUE ARE THE SAME THING.

  • Inception Lost Paprika Won!!!

  • THE BEST MOVIE EVER!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • i saw this waaay before inception came out and when i saw inception was gonna come out and saw that it was kinda similar to this i was like WTF???

  • I love any movie that has dreams as a theme and actually does it right by making it a sort of mind screw!

  • @MyShiroyuki Definatly

  • loved it, but why to compare it with inception, being this one great?

paprika has magic, granted, but when it comes to the plot the dc mini whatever it gets a little vague and the movie is way too short, i dont think the idea is developed well enough

nolan did that with inception, and admit it, it is an awesome movie.... cant hate one if u love the other ;)

  • Damn I wanna see this movie so bad right nao!! XD

  • @EdmeEadric

I'm trying to see if I can find it myself

  • loved and will always love this movie. The music is especially memorable. this song and the parade melody.

  • I've always found this to be one of the coolest openings to anything, it makes me tingle every time i watch it

  • R.I.P. Satoshi, you left your mark on this world and you will not be forgotten.

  • Paprika- Like the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion watched Inception while dropping enough acid to kill an elephant.

Or, in layman's terms, plain awesome.

  • @mauraofdunlath Paprika came before Inception. Just wanted to point that out.

  • Gotta love this movie, this & Perfect blue are both stunning movies each in their own right

  • I like the song, I can't describe it other the it's incredible.

  • ....Moss Burger? 8D MOSS BURGER!!!

  • I just have discovered that Satoshi Kon was gone. I knew him thanks to this movie. He has left a legacy of brilliant animated works, where this mobie about dreams and reality shines like the jewel of the crown. We will miss Kon-sama.

  • Christopher Nolan cited Paprika as an influence on his 2010 feature film, Inception.

  • @thaian1308 except Paprika is wayyyyyyyy better than Inception lol

  • i never see the movie but i want to but this song always makes me cry

  • This movie was brilliant!

  • This looks interesting, need to see this, may Satoshi Kon R.I.P.

  • Very nice opening. RIP Satoshi Kon :)

  • Why do such talented people have to die so young?

  • I read Satoshi Kon's last words and shed manly tears. ;____;

  • @Levaxia Seconded. He really was a great guy.

  • @Levaxia

    Indeed.

  • inception does not even hold a candle to this flick

  • i knew reading the description of this movie on wikipedia that i would love it because ever since i was a kid i was obsessed with dreams and the idea of a machine that could allow us to control our dreams. dreams are the closest think we as humans can ever get to being "god". if any of you are interested in learning to control your dreams i suggest you google "lucid dreaming". if you can successfully enter a lucid dream it can be one of the most amazing experiences of your life :)))

  • why is the moped yellow here?

  • I didn't know he died D:....as an animation student I've really admired his movies, the characters, and the designs themselves. His style was amazingly detailed

  • The odd thing is, according to my cousin, they're all trying to get in Paprika's pants. owo'

  • I enjoyed this movie 10x more than I enjoyed Inception. This movie had an actual message regarding the subject on dreams.

If there was any movie that was a near direct copy of Satoshi Kon's movies...it would have to be Black Swan. I mean nearly everything of Black Swan is in Perfect Blue.

If Aronofsky got rights to remaking it...ok fine then...but I haven't heard anything about that.

  • @shadowpal2 Oh, but he did, Kon even blogged about it, can't post links but go to the Perfect Blue wiki page and you'll find a link to his blog

  • @shadowpal2 Aronofsky actually does own the rights to Perfect Blue. He purchased them so he could replicate the PB bathtub scene in Requiem for a Dream.

  • @spiegalr

OH OK...that's good then. I'm just kind of curious as to why it didn't mention it in Wikipedia or something. Because normally that kind of thing would be mentioned.

  • This and Inception are two completely different things, the only thing they really have in common is they both deal with dreams. However both are mindtrips and freaking amazing.

  • @gopoke Actually, Christopher Nolan cited Paprika as a huge influence for Inception.

  • this always make me cry... and for some reason it sounds like The Sims 2 :S

  • .........INCEPTION!?!?!?!?

  • @randomamerican1 inception? probably a little copied by this! still two great movies

  • @Sarva07 yeah, I saw this first a couple years back. Then my brother talked me into going to see Inception, and it just hit me. Funny that. |3

  • wait, I have this movie *coughdownloadedcough* somewhere... in my version, at 0:43 there's pictures of a woman on all those blank papers around his desk! Weird.

  • @toovann me too :)

  • 21 people can't dream

  • Paprikaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • ¿¿Satoshi Kon died?? I didn't know

What a tragedy... Such a genuis.

He will live forever in our dreams

  • I'm stressing out here

To see such a great great anime

and seeing people say Dr.who is an anime is like

    WTF

this is anime and Dr.who is a cartoon get real

  • @shadowpal2 totally agree with you.

  • ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOVIES OF THE DECADE. Don't you even dare mention INCEPTION. I'm not going to say that Inception was a direct copy of Paprika, but YOU GUYS better not say that Paprika is a copy of Inception because Nolan worked on it 10 years ago.

Paprika has actual meaning to the film unlike INCEPTION which is just for mere entertainment. "WE GOTTA GO DEEPER" - is that it? Is that honestly it?

Paprika is much deeper than any of it via themes, motifs, characters, and it's artwork.

  • My absolute respect to all those kreators and Writers Storyline top

Colors Beautifull and not to forget the well remembered Artist Satoishi kon.

    I miss his works alot

  • loved the movie but was confusing. I also saw inception and i bet the writer got the concept creating shit in your dreams from paprika.

  • Who are the 21 bozos who voted against this video? Ridiculous. What's not to like? It's freakin' awesome!

  • @GoldenSilents 21 people who don't like paprikas

  • One of the greatest anime movies I've seen, Really confusing at first, but once you pay attention you get the point of it.

  • Its actually Satoshi Kon who is asleep at the computer at the beginning...

  • its a good film anf he music just completes it

  • I WANNA WATCH I WANNA WATCH 0.0!

  • I love this movie!!!

  • satoshi!!!!!!!!!!!! T V T

  • Beautiful animation, transitions where really well done Satoshi Kon you'll always be remembered!

  • I'm usually not one for Japanese animation, but that was freaking awesome =3

  • I watched it last night lying on my bed and while watching it, I was confused if I was dreaming.

  • This opening credits scene, is my favourite bit of anime ever. Thank you so much for posting it.

Satoshi Kon - it's so unfair that you have gone. We'll miss you!

  • This opening has raped my mind...

    Yep, definelty a Kon work.

  • @Raven86247 search this in In my playlist miku hatsune, go all the way to the bottom and you'll see it

  • i wish this song was longer...:(

  • @Raven86247 Original song is longer than the song in the movie. It's almost 5 minutes

  • Such a fucked up beautiful piece of work, honestly, great great job

  • what is this move about o.e

  • @bananamonkey033 It's about a group of therapists' DC Minis (a machine that allows them to go into patient's dreams) are stolen and all hell brakes loose. It's a very confusing movie, but it's definitely worth watching. That woman at 1:41 is the main character; Paprika (the redheaded chick) is her alter-ego when she goes into dreams.

  • Satoshi Kon said one of his biggest regrets was keeping his vision for Dream Machine all to himself. Even though it was to be a children's movie, no one will ever really know what the last vision in his dreams was. The movie we will get will be like Mark Twain's "The Mysterious Stranger" -- an amalgamation of the original artist's and his editor's ideas. But somewhere in that movie will still be a little of Kon's last dreams.

  • inception can't compare to this masterpiece

  • @heyjo0205 Indeed,

  • @heyjo0205 yes it can, and I haven't even seen inception. There's a tone about this movie that leaves everyone who would be in the least, interested, left behind. Like most highly touted anime, it drops the ball by indulging itself in its own quirks that it turns off anyone in the english speaking world.

  • @heyjo0205 THAT'S what I was thinking about!! *always thought Inception looked familiar when he watched it*

  • @heyjo0205

    I totally agree with you.

  • Wonderful, wonderful movie.

  • 20 people can't dream ^^

  • Most beautiful Anime ever, and i've seen a lot !!

  • Makes me so sad to know Satoshi Kon is gone....too young and too soon.

    Rest in Peace...

  • did any1 else think that Inception was very similar to this movie? they got a lot of good ideas from Paprika to use there

  • @madridista4life7 mm papurika was a short story long before inception

  • wtf? Satoshi Kon dead? First Nujabes and now him? Wow, the world sucks now T_T Gone too soon =(

  • i saw this a few years back and when you watch it, it makes you feel like your high on something

  • May your eternal slumber be a peaceful one.

    R.I.P. Satoshi Kon.

  • I haven't seen this movie yet. I have the DVD. I'm saving it for the one day I truely need insperation on my horror fanfic.

  • is this a tv show now?

originally it was a movie right?

  • Its a movie not a TV Show
