And Yes, I'm a pretty big fan of the PMDG 744 as well.. The canarsie approach @ JFK is still making me sweat, but for the rest.. Nah, wouldnt have done a bad job on the right seat..:) or a cruise relief.
I always tried imagining how it must feel like to retire from the dream career I never had... Making my last landing on my also native Island Curacao.. Or doing the inaugural flight of whichever long-haul boeing to the Island.. B773 or even the B787 when it's operational
Oh well, bless you tube for letting me at least see how it's done, and to help me dream..And all who contributed to this magnificent video!
Hey Alex - This is a truly great video - and as someone says in the comments, it restores faith in human nature, and shows true respect to an individual five star high flyer! I hope Capt. Rob is well and happy in Curacao. Very Best Wishes from EL AL Israel Airlines in London! Andy.
Thank yo very much my friend "Tiara 747" Appreciate your nice comment to my riend Capt.Rob Ruysenaars... I will e-mail him your nice reaction. Thanks again from the Netherlands Tiara.
Is the KLM / ALM relationship similar to that of Continental / Air Micronesia? Are these KLM pilots or ALM pilots?
Good video. The KLM folks do a very good job with their retirements. My Dad retired with TWA / AA after 39 years of service back in 2005 and didn't receive so much as a letter of congratulations from the chief pilot.
I do not know about the Continental/Micronesia relationship, so i cannot answer you that. Second question; these pilots were "ALM" pilots trained and hired by the KLM those days. ALM does not exist anymore...
Thanks for your contribution Capt. appreciate that! Yes...on the small Dutch island of Curacao in the Caribbean we honor our brave man and woman... unafortunatly it is not happened in other big countries... By the way Capt. i have some F.S. "add-on" of the MD-11 here at home...and that virtual ship is functioning just as the real thing...ever hear about it yet? PMDG- MD-11... Have a nice day there in Italia...maybe we met once at the TREVI fountain..ha-ha-haa...!
As a former MD-11 pilot for Thai Airways i miss this beautiful aircraft so much. Now the Md-11 era is over since a few years ago and now am flying Boeing 777-200 instead. Happy retirement Capt Rob.
What youre not a pilot? the fact that you actually have time to comment vids on youtube and the type of comments he left on other videos are definately not md-11 or 777-200 standard!!!
This is one of those videos that you accidentally come across on youtube and watch... and without trying it somehow restores your faith in humanity just that little bit.
Gracias amigo Colombiano...!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
PEACE.

I just stop flying as a Captain on this beautiful ship with Alitalia Cargo after being there for the last 4 years.
Our Captain has been forcely "RETIRED" with ZERO honor by the old bankrupt .company
TOO BAD :-(((
at least in KLM the respect for our carrer is still a great value.
HAPPY RETIREMENT from all the colleagues of former ALITALIA's MD11 Fleet
ciao Capt. GUX

On the side of the aircraft it says his name!
wonder how long it would have taken to do that!
seemyseems 3 years ago
Very easy! Was just like a bumper sticker they made with his name print on; and after the flight they removed it easely after 9 hours flight.

COOL!
it's really cleaver, and the MD-11 is my favourite Tri-Jet, thank you for the Ackowledgement!
