  • i think you could get some more speed and accuracy if you really focused on turning your shoulders more upon delivery. this will help your follow through, and it just seems to really help me get on my game. like really think about turning your shoulders really hard.

  • did you buy the dick mills program?, its a great program, my brother has been using it and it has gained his velocity by 3mph just by fixing 1 mechanic haha its a great program. Please respond on how much velocity you gained if you used the program and what things you fixed to get more velo.

    Thanks

  • Im loving it go wv.

  • literally no hips witch takes eveything your doing with your legs out

  • decent, but not great. not a lot of explosion, if you tried you could add a few inches onto your sride which would make you a lot faster to the plate

  • why be a dick when you asked for comments on your mechanics...

youd gain more delivery speed and momentum if you got rid of your swan delivery ...

  • Your left leg drags, you have too much movement in your hands which is throwing off momentum and balance, truthfully your top half just looks dead... And you look like your in pain.

  • your foots supposed to drag off the rubber, that happens from the push off.

  • @SimpleStuff31 Sorry, I was refering to the way it drags. It drags as though hes not using his legs enough. It looks lazy almost.

  • no, when u push u come off from the force, but it is in slow motion so it could look that way

  • dick mills is not the best for explosiveness, for explosiveness i recommend ron wolforth, in the last 4 years hes had over 100 pitchers in the 90 mph club.

  • I'm just wondering....when this guy ends his pitch he tends to turn his landing foot out.....he lands straight then at the last moment turns out some. Is this ok? Anyone?

  • Yea thats just his body coming around, plus its after the pitch so it wont affect the ball.

  • I can tell you "one thing"; if you lift like that in the stretch down in FLA or at any high level of baseball, a guy running a 7.5 will own your basepaths!

try a wider set position and a low "knee load" ...yes you will lose some velo (2-5mph) but the quickness gained will give your catcher a chance. Of course, if you know your runners you can always go to the full lift when appropriate.

Hope youre still pitching ( i see this was 2008)

    Former D1/Minor leaguer

  • He's a lefty he can get away with that kind of thing.

  • Love the energy and lift in your smooth delivery. To get a little more velo, you could stay closed a tad longer and work on getting more extension down the hill.

    -D1 Pitcher

  • your arm gets up too early. it shouldnt be up in the cocked position till your knee braces up

  • good mechanics

work on getting the chest over the leg more for a better follow through.

    Otherwise they are pretty good.

by the way.. how fast do you throw?

  • and what could help is point your toe down when your raise it that will help you be able to close it longer realizing your hips open a bit to early

    but overall pretty good

  • NO im not some retard trying to b.s. ya ha

im going off to play D2 ball next year

to get more velocity if thats what your wanting keep your right leg (since your a lefty) closed longer land on the ball of your foot than twist that will create a better follow through plus that back leg will follow through alot higher and better

  • you open up too much before you land, you are all arm. All that effort you are putting in goes to waste because you open up before landing. There is no flow, it's like everything is done before landing. and waiting to land to then get going again. robotic and not effiecient....It's just a timing problem, you are doing the right things just wait a little longer before you turn your hips.

  • exactly

  • FINALLY some decency. Good overall mechanics.

  • My two uncles and grandfather all pitched in the Bigs, I was only college... for what it's worth, it looks like your back leg isn't "kicking" over high enough, dragging your back knee.

We used to do this drill of pitching but putting a chair to the side that you had to kick your back leg out and over, counterbalancing your torso like a T.

It definitely helps with control and follow-through. If I got lazy with this, my pitches would hang, they would drift.

    Good luck man.

  • he never really gets his chest over his front leg. this means that his release point is too high. i have the exact same problem. i threw 86-88 in high school too. the only problem is, is that i still do as a senior in college. check out my blog. i need some answers.

  • Your mechanics are pretty smooth. As a coach, the one thing I would like to see (and I'm sure you've heard it before), is a little less toe drag because you're losing power from your hips/core. A drill you can do for that, would be to put a brick against your instep of your left foot (post leg), in the stretch position. The goal is to get your foot over the brick, without pulling it down the mound as your deliver the ball to home plate.

  • youre mechanics are very similiar to mine (when i throw left handed) good job.

  • This is my first time leaving a comment, hopes this helps. Your stride and momentum are great! Try bringing your delivery further down and also try gaining more torque by raising your glove hand higher with a downward pull. As far as the toe down thing, this helps building your muscles in your legs and the exercise is great for practice. I wouldn't put to much into the toe down issue as far as improving your mechanics. Hope you are on a running as well as long toss training program.

  • How old, please respond.

  • you are the first person with mechanics on youtube that i like those are beautiful.

moving quickly into a long stride

the only thing i dont like is your front arm flying above your shoulder that can add stress but other than that B E A UTIFUL

  • very nice...agree with previous posters, reminded me of cole hamels when i first watched...my only suggestion would be, put a mat or something under that mound for stability! keep workin hard stud

  • your mechanics really remind me of cole hamels. i really like your mechanics though. nice job!

  • yea dude look just like hamels high leg kick from both the stretch and the wind up.

  • how fast do you throw???

  • high 80'sh low 90'sh baby

  • why did you put 80'sh 90'sh, its 80's and 90's, what do you have a lisp

  • Good mechanics...I would just suggest focusing on finishing out in front over that front leg...really focusing on extension...following through, through the target..like throwing a punch...

  • hey i know this might be hard because of your high leg kick but try to point your toe down, i know it might sound crazy but it helps. your pitching style is going to land you in the majors one day keep up the good work, and ill see you in 5 years on espn

  • haa you never wanna keep your shoulders level only at the 1 and 2 position, by 3 you should be at a tilt to give yourself arm whip.

  • Bush.

  • thanks:)

  • get a speed gun!! If you're not in the nineties, you're probably opening up to much at the last second. It also looks like you're leaning your right shoulder to much when you start rotation. your shoulders should remain level at all times!!!

  • I'm a 40yr old white man and I love the song. I also like the mechanics. I got the Dick Mills Training for my son.

  • That mat is garbage, you're going to hurt yourself.

  • i already did

  • how is that garbage?

i pitch about like that and i dont have any arm trouble.

  • he said the pitching mat is garbage. not my motion

  • The motion has some good points and some not so good, but the mat is all bad.

  • ohhh. you're a pitching coach too? tell me what i'm doin wrong big boy

  • The motion is too slow and the arm action is too long. The followthrough should be more flexible and athletic. It's tough to tell how much of this is due to the stupid mat, however, because trying to balance on that thing has to slow you down and mess with your balance.

  • well its in slow motion.

  • @hithazel you need to speed up your delivery is to slow your delivery is 29 frames if you speed it up you can gain 2 or 3 mph also you need to lead with your hip more.

  • ooh lol. i wasnt paying attention.

  • You may like the music, but it's garbage.

  • How tall is this kid like 6-5?

  • Way to put ghetto thug fucking nigger music to two white kids pitching, you ass.

  • i like this song. and i am white

  • why u put rap music to 2 whiteBoi's?

  • you don't have to be a certain color to listen to a certain type of music. I like all genres of music.
