@Nazz6000 moreover, who unplugs their computer, phone charger, printer, toaster, microwave, fridge, stove, water heater, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer? There's loads of things that people don't unplug every night.

If it was possible to avoid fire completely, we'd probably just do that and not bother with buying smoke detectors or fire insurance.

today's tvs don't need unplugging just switching off,and vcr/dvd recorders and anything with a clock ie microwaves is designed to be left plugged in.
