  • A good solution if you lock your keys in the car : )

  • So basically your car can get hacked into?

  • YH what's the title of app

  • whats the aplication name?

  • How?

  • 110 people beat up geeks in high school

  • install that shit in my wife please

  • From anywhere... where there's viable internet...

  • can i make a call bro? its just 4 a sec

  • What's the point all this? Teach her to go get you some food at walmart

  • Comment removed

  • Are you guys on here really that stupid!! This is nothing new, It is very real and very old. Had this on my car years ago! Autopage C3 Had it when no other companies where out yet. I can't beleive that you people are so out of touch with Technology.. WOW!

  • lol usuing his key

  • what if you parked the car in 1st gear and want to start the car ?

  • @mrbreakstuf look up iPod touch 1G

  • it doesnt look like a ipod looks more like htc!

  • @mrbreakstuf Htc for the Win

  • GREAT VIDEO MAN

  • This is really cool and all.......but, what do you tell your insurance after the you crash the car with you ipod touch or iphone?

  • Es ist kein ipod touch

  • IoI, you should apply patent for this if it's not fake~

  • Faker than man tittys

  • this is ghetto. terrabad install job.

  • it sucks for the person who steals your car lol

  • Doet dat het goed?

  • IS THIS REAL??

  • Hope that iPod never gets stolen...

  • good job man

  • Since a lot of you seem to lack a creative mind, think of this... His car is stolen, oh no! But wait, he can see where it is with the gps, then turn off the car from anywhere. The thief with then have to hot wire again. While on his way with the police he can monitor tel. stats to see if the car starts again, then turn it off again. Repeat until police arrive.

This is just one useful thing this setup can do for you.

P.s. a hacker would have to know you have this setup to consider hacking...

  • What is the avail of doing that to your car?

  • You need to press the clutch in to start the car?

  • I like!! Very nice work!! Whats next??

  • Prouve si il ya personne dedans

  • So what your saying is I can hack into your car ans start/ stop your engine...

  • It's cool that you were able to do this yourself, but wouldn't it have been simpler to just buy a car starter remote from a car store? My brother has something similar that he bought for his lancer, its a remote that starts the car. It's cool that you can do this from anywhere in the world though, since its 3g. Also, since you have the ECU exposed, you should racing tune it by modifying the fuel-air ratio for maximum performance, since it IS an RX8 afterall =) Props man, this is sweet.

  • "There's an app for that..."

  • That'd be perfect if your car was stolen, but you'd be screwed if your iTouch was stolen. :/

  • look right its not hard to get your keys out press the button you already have on your keys and just start the engin yourself lol lazy ppl.

  • It friggin sucks! No driving, waste of my time.

    Why show something incomplete?

  • It is real because i did it with my car last year. but my one is more advanced then the one on the vid i can drive my car. :()

  • Midget in there do all the work

  • I'm sure it's real. A couple VW's come with it stock from the factory.

  • holy fuck!

  • @deathstrike94 Didn't you listen to the explanation on the video? It's not an "app", it's a web page viewed in a full-screen browser. The web server is in the boot ("trunk" for Americans) of the car, connected to the Internet via 3G

  • @SuperHouseTV dont bother wasting your energy with these fools that claim your work is fake. i admire your work sir.

  • @SuperHouseTV it is fake because ur using a IPOD which doesnt have 3G LOL

  • @NoTVEntertainment

how can u be so stupid??? he said that ipod connects via wifi.........

  • @Fran1001Varga read his comment u dumbshit at da top it says via 3G!!!

  • @NoTVEntertainment As I explained in the video, the iPod was connecting to my house's WiFi. The car itself has a 3G connection

  • excuse me @NoTVEntertainment please cover yourself up! Your ignorance is showing!!!!

  • unsafe, you know those people.... hackers

  • That's cool ..

  • Umm isnt that wat ur keychain remote can do

  • Pls answer me truthfully is it really real

  • @Xcel271 Yes it's real. It's been demonstrated at tech conferences and events around Australia, seen "in person" by lots of people. If you follow the link in the video info you'll even see info about how it was done.

  • @JaysonKendall how did you post that link? plz tell me how.

  • Why do you want to start the car with an ipod/iphone?

  • also i think it quite cool, also did you make the iphone app as well?

  • i honestly dont want to spend hours ready through your comments but i have a few brief questions

    1. do you have separate power supply/battery to run computer? if not, how do you prevent computer from draining battery.

    2. what type of CPU and motherboard is it? a server board?

  • @HondaTurboToys I honestly don't want to spend hours answering the same questions over and over again, so all that info is in the Geek My Ride page that's linked from the video info ;-)

  • @SuperHouseTV

Oops! This link appears to be broken.?

  • Screw that. Sounds like "steal my iPod, and win a free car"

  • Cool idea and sounds very reasonable bit I personally like the feel of the clutch when you start it up. I like the rumble sound in the pit. :)

  • hi, i really like your idea, but i cant help thinking that your computer is slightly underpowered, it might be nice to install a netbook instead (which uses little power aswell) and then you could make it do more prosesor intensive work, e.g outputting performance graphs to the web, or outputting a live webcam feed to the web, just an ideo though!

  • @seb43654 Netbooks were just starting to become commonly available when I did this a few years ago, and they still pull more juice than the low-power VIA EPIA system I'm running. You're right that it's quite slow, but it does the job. I'm actually in the process of migrating everything to an even slower system based on a Freetronics Arduino-compatible board to cut the power consumption down even lower. There was some info about that in my book "Practical Arduino"

  • @SuperHouseTV I feel bad for you having to explain yourself to the idiots on the internet again and again... Unfortunately the link to rx8.oxer.com.au appears to be broken.. Or am I just failing at this? Also do you have a way of disabling the system recording data, say if you didn't want the world to know where you were and how fast you were going?

  • thats insane

  • Looks very clever. But I have to ask, why would you ever need to do this?

  • lol people are so gullible

  • FAAAAAAAKE LOL it's a shiity app

  • @badboyripp App is the less important, Arduino just get values from the internet, it can be from Twitter for example, but he did that App.

  • well done man you can be James Bond if its real Stuff.

  • ooppsss

  • Love it. You should talk to major car manufacturers about mass production and factory installation so they can take advantage of remote diagnostics.

  • what is the app called

  • @TheUsama603 As I explained in the video, there is no special app running on the iPod. It's just a web browser running : the interface is a web app coming from the server in the back of the car. I could have used any device with a web browser to access it, the fact that I used an iPod in the video is irrelevant.

  • all that just so you can push a botton!? why the hell would you need to start your car 1000 miles away? seriously, why?

  • @fuccillo111 A few scenarios that are explained on the site linked in the video info, and which I mentioned in the conference presentations that have been recorded about this. The obvious one is remote diagnostics: instead of taking your car to the mechanic to be checked out if the "problem" light comes up on your dash, your mechanic could start the car remotely while it's sitting in your driveway and talk to the engine management system to figure out what the problem is.

  • @fuccillo111

the rx8's engine needs to be started everyday or as much as possible to maintain the cars performance, i think this is a great idea and superhouseTV should post this on the rx8 owners webpage!!

theres your reason for having this web browser running on ur phone or ipod!!

  • its oviously he got the car keys in his hands other wise he would not go near the car until it was open ass hole also i saw someone move in the car to start the engine at the time at 0:46

  • @gpmyles its clearly real , your one of these people who just thinks everybody else is lieing

  • ahh technology. you got to love it. next we ca actually drive the car from the backseat. or even get the car to drive on its own just by telling it to with the iPhone. (actually that will be pretty cool)

  • So, do you even have a key and how do you use it when you turn it on using the ipod ?? ://

  • Wonder what happens when you remote-start the car in 1st Gear...

  • wow thats cool! i think that if your car was stolen then this would be a cool way to stop the thief dead in his tracks. it would be epic to see the chase on TV then shut of the engine and lock the doors. the guy in the car would be freaking out!

  • Hi! Nice project. How can arduino start the engine by itself? Which type of sensors do you use?

  • Impresionante!!

  • so you can start your car from the other side of the planet?

    sounds practical.

  • the weather here in QC Canada would kill that computer setup in the trunk b4 the end of the first winter...

  • Somebody could sign on to your server and steal the car.

  • That's kinda pointless

  • interesting but childish and useless

  • Everyone who is saying what if your ipod is stolen, it is not ipod specific and this would have to have some sort of security.... obviously....

  • i just hacked an porsche 911 with an iphone haha

  • what if you get your ipod stolen? consider your car gone also :)

  • @x1expert1x I think something like 20% of the nearly 800 comments on this video say some variation of this idea. And no, it wouldn't make any difference. As is explained in the video (and on the site linked to in the video info) there's nothing special about that iPod. In fact I don't even own one: I borrowed one from a friend to make the video. It could be any device, because it's an online (web-based) interface

  • @SuperHouseTV Which is even worse. Consider your car gone if somebody learns the IP of your car. You even manage to tell them where it is. Your practically saying HERE! STILL ME!

  • @x1expert1x Like he told us in the video, this is a web application. This probably means he can control the car from another phone, or from a computer ex. It is also possible to disable the whole system.

  • @x1expert1x but it can only happen when the software was open

  • Remember when Jeremy Clarkson crashed Vauxhall whlie trying to drive from backseat? Now when you crash this mazda, you will have to write a mail to ensurance company. Protocol about crash will be just hilarious. Where were driver in time of crash? On Balcony... In bathroom... At office meeting, playing with his phone.

  • im thinking this is real because i saw a app of this

  • dat was acually txt language get 2 no it nd i no this vid is fake an ipod touch dusnt hve da capability to perform this FAKE task i no real wen i see it nd dis is foney

  • umm this videos fake u cnt control a car by an ipod tuch evr1 nos dat sum1s probly hiding unda dat seet buddo ur nt fuling ny1 not to be rudeu opened dat trunk i saw u pop it up at da bottam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if u said it can work far away den yd u get dat close 2 da trunk????

  • @TheAdvancedReviews Not to be rude, but perhaps if you learn how to spell people will take your opinions more seriously. By the way, it's interesting that you can make that judgement when you haven't even seen the actual car. Hundreds of people have seen it demonstrated live at technology conferences and other events.

  • @TheAdvancedReviews ENGLISH PLESE

  • @TheAdvancedReviews ENGLISH PLEASE

  • @TheAdvancedReviews rofl well played sir

  • wow man really nice job!

  • what if some1 hacks in to yr sever while yr out for a drive, and decides to, shut the engine off or open the boot at speed?

  • i sooo badly thought this was gonna be a rick roll!

  • y would u wanna start your car up from any where -_- dumb shit

yo look man im about to start my car up from school its on right now and im at school 0_0 now im gonna unlock it COOL ?

  • @CALixXPOKEMONXx on a cold morning you could start the car and warm it up as you get ready for work.

  • I don't know, is it fake, or real. But... If it real, then u're fucking good IT, GOOD JOB MATE!!

I wish to have that much information in my head, to make something similar to this only in 1%.......

  • what if u lose connection while driving lol

  • What happens when u are hacked? If its via internet anyone can break into your car controls...am i right?

  • @MrHiGhSpeEdEr007 Did you even look at the video or Geek My Ride site? Remote starters don't: a) work from anywhere in the world, b) provide remote access to the engine management system including all OBD-II data, c) log engine management data to a database continuously for later reporting, d) track the location of the car and display the current location on Google Maps, e) export data to Google Earth for a 3D fly-by of where the car has been

  • @SuperHouseTV jeep commanders have remote starters. :)

  • @SuperHouseTV Say you hid the actual hardware and other things. If it did get stolen you'd be able to track it. Of course if the computer hardware has not been located/broken or damaged. Very cool.

  • no need for all this thing. There is a kit made better and cheaper

  • @GMELECTRONICS365 Where? I haven't seen any that integrate with the engine management system and provide real-time access to OBD data via the Internet while the car is moving

  • Cool app but if someone steals your Ipod...

...they'll be able to listen to music.

  • high idle

  • @st3v3n98 Its a rotory, they do that :D

  • Cool car man I'm likeing tha color u went with. What do u think about these cars? Are they good? How are they with gas?

  • @TwiSteDxMeTaLx91 I quite like the colour: it's fairly rare, and I've never seen another one that colour except in photos. Fuel economy is, well, terrible. But they love to rev, and the handling is fantastic.

  • @SuperHouseTV so basically you control a ford w/ a ipod

  • @jason123456789210 Nothing about an Rx model car is ford brah

  • @nexusmaus mazdas are fords under the skin

  • @jason123456789210 you obviously don't know anything about these cars then.

  • @nexusmaus search mazda on wikipedia there will be something about ford on the article

  • @jason123456789210 ok dude, Ford OWNs mazda, and alot of their stuff has been the same over the years, like the B series pickups are the same as the ranger, but NOTHING about a rotary powered, Miata chasied, RX model car, is MADE by ford.

  • what if some1 steals ur ipod lol

  • @kiat469 easy track where it is. If you steal and ipod or iphone or ipad your stupid because you can find it in less than 5 min.

  • Fantastic... I'll start to investigate how I can do that...!!!

  • Love Rx-8?

    Check out Rx-8 Mega Gathering 2010 - Trailer 2

(stay tuned for a RARE Rx-8!)

  • Computer On Board :O

  • Comment removed

  • hi, I live in the US, and I was wondering how the petals are laid out on manual car that is right hand, from the driver's view, is it clutch brake gas, or gas brake clutch, kindof a stupid question i know but ???

  • @Dissoawsomeyoudheve From left to right, it's clutch / brake / accelerator (or "gas", as Americans call it!)

  • @SuperHouseTV you made the app for the ipod yourself? is there a guide for this somewhere or just at least an synopsis of what you did. i would love to read about it.

  • @lucirz As explained in the video and on the webpage linked to in the video info, it's not a specific app: it's just the SOPOD full-screen web browser being used to load up a web interface served from the car. I regularly access the same interface from my laptop, desktop, aPad, Symbian phone, web-enabled TV (using MythTV), and home automation touch-screens. The page itself is generated in the car using PHP, MySQL, and Apache.

  • @SuperHouseTV the page links are dead...

  • @lucirz That looks like an internal problem with YouTube: the URL itself in the video description works fine, but YouTube are running it through some redirect system (presumably to log clicks) that dies with an internal error. You can get to the actual URL just by removing the youtube reference from the start to make it look like it was originally intended without the redirect. Or if you Google for "geek my ride rx-8" the very first result takes you to the right place.

  • @Dissoawsomeyoudheve that guy is Aussie, that's why it is right handed))

  • arduino rocks!

  • Wow how can it be fake if he PROVED there was no one in the car. Also, to the maker of this film, are you developing a newer version with more advanced features?

  • @xXTheShadowVietXx This was a simple prototype. Much of the functionality has since been moved into an Arduino-based system that was partly documented in my book "Practical Arduino" in the "Vehicle Telemetry Platform" project. The Arduino system uses far less power than even a very small Linux-based system like the Alix-1.

  • Woooooooooow that was amazing like that I want to do that

  • @BUDDAH1231000 cause ur 2 poor to do it

  • @ipodtouchapps96 Your answer makes no sense. He said that he wants to do it, not that he can't. And FUCK your bad grammar.

  • @h333333333h fuck u, u cunt

  • @ipodtouchapps96 What a great answer... You're seriously THAT stupid? And guess what, your grammar still sucks!

  • @h333333333h go back to school you cunt i bet you for christmas u got 500 grammer books insted ogf real presants like ipods and xbox cause u love your grammer u wanking little cunt

  • @ipodtouchapps96 I'm a little bit too old for that... You fail to understand that you are embarrassing yourself, your comments have no arguments and all you can do is insult others... And why would I go back to school? That literally makes no sense at all, its obvious that I'm better educated than you. Not only your grammar sucks, but you can't form a sentence, either.

  • awesome

  • really really really cool

  • wow lol somebody is rich ^^

  • @coolgames14

U dont need to be a rich.. for ipod..mazda and computer with internet Lol So i have to say...

Wow Lol Sombody is ignorant Lol xD

    Ignorance is bliss..

  • @Elovete ok if ur saying u can afford all of that then get me an RX8, the same set up that he have, and a 64gb 4gen ipod touch

  • But seriously, do you have a fail safe to prevent others from unlocking your doors and running off with your car? Or just turning the car off while you are driving?

  • @brian4480 You really didn't pay any attention, did you. If you look at the Geek My Ride site linked to in the video info you'll find heaps more info about it, including more technical details (some of it was covered in my latest book, "Practical Arduino") and videos of presentations at technical conferences discussing this car

  • this video is 100% fake just look in the car, they didn't even computer generate the steering wheel on the right side of the car. I wasnt born yesterday...i know when stuff is fake and when stuff is real....

  • @brian4480 What are you talking about with the steering wheel? It's a right-hand drive car! This was filmed in Australia

  • @SuperHouseTV do you really think i did not get that...i was poking fun at the "stereotypical dumb american". I figured as a roo fucker you would find my satire funny. Humor...theres an app for that. And in your video you did not clarify if your wifi could get hacked so why are you being such an ass?

  • @brian4480 Because your "satire" was indistinguishable from many of the previous comments saying "the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car so it's obviously fake" and fully believing what they say. If you want to satirize ignorant people you have to go 2 steps beyond into the realm of the ridiculous or you'll just look exactly like one of them.

  • @SuperHouseTV man if my comment was not 2 steps beyond I'm losing faith in the human race. "but seriously" could be described as a dead giveaway....your geekmyride video says nothing about anti hacking precautions so i guess you're not as skilled as some others think you are. Can you at least turn the system off when you know your not around or driving?

  • @brian4480 I've seen far stranger comments than the one you made! If you want to fake ignorance you'll have to try much harder. One that made me laugh was: "Do they have automatic cars in the UK?". Others that are indicative of the intelligence of the typical commenter are: "its fake cuz u got a motherboard in the boot with a whole bunch of fake wires", and "bullshit cuz its a Manuel and u have to put in the clutch to start it."

  • @SuperHouseTV was there really a dumbass like that in the comments?:D:D ''u have to put in the clutch to start it'' like wth?:D:D silly americans, know nothing about manual transmissionsXD did u tell the bloke atleast, that manual cars have neutral gear too?:D

  • All I have to save is that, You have a bright future!
