love your stuff man....i was wondering do you have a mapping for the vci 100 (NOT se) that allows you to put samples on the 4 buttons at the bottom where you have the arcade buttons? is it possible to do what youre doing in this video on a normal vci 100? thanks
People are so silly, if you want a mac, buy one. Then partition the hard drive and chuck another operating system on it.
Use mac os for djing, and the other for games/porn/work/whatever.
Problem solved. None of this fanboy crap.
Personally i would go the other way and get a PC and then install mac os on it. Seeing as PC's are way cheaper for a similarly spec'd machine. With apple $400 of the price tag is the logo.

This shit is so stupid. Muldover mashes up a Beastie track and then his own sucks, not to mention he's at a convention with three people around his booth, one of which is pushin 40 and bald. The headset is real nice too. What's he sellin? Steak knives or a new amazing car wax
Controllerism is DJing like Rollerblading is to Skateboarding...It's Gay period!!!
For a dude who both talks so much smack and has a name with DJ in it shouldn't you have atleast ONE vid of yourself showing off YOUR routines?
Anyways, controllerism right now is where hip hop was way back when it first started. No one like it, it was "trash" etc, Now hip hop has undertones in MOST if not all forms of modern music.
Just a few years ago arguments like this were held over DJ's using Vinyl or Cd's. Now its CD's or MP3's. Fact is MUSIC is the same, how it's made Is evolving.
My man, you are dead wrong with that. When hip hop first started, everyone loved it. Not liked it, and it took the media by storm. WHBI was the first radio station to support it, but ktu and bls quickly jumped on the band wagon.
Ean! i was just curious to know why most dj's prefer to dj with mac computers instead than other computers? im planning on getting a midi controller most probably the vci-100. I would appreciate if u answer my question. thanx. good vids btw
@eangolden Mac fan boys lol. ie I rock an apc40 and a dual core Toshiba notebook, however I pray for the day of the infamous Blue Screen of Death to happen during a gig to never ever come.
The "macs are more reliable than pc's" argument is widely held one, and unfortunately untrue. I play live all the time on my hp machine and do tons of production on my self-built desktop pc and both are solid, cheaper much cheaper than macs, and much more customizable and upgradeable. Both platforms are great and have their merits, neither is better than the other. Choose what you feel comfortable with!
with luck you can put together a pc rig that's as stable as a mac. The bad thing about pc's is that audiosoftware HATES windows. The drivers usually suck, there's latency issues with certain hardware, Vista isn't exactly known for being awesome with audiosoftware either. If you manage to get your computer running smoothly with audio software and whatnot, that's all good. Brilliant in fact, cause you can upgrade, as you said.
stop the arguments. use and support opensource linux builds. build your own! make a computer specially suited to your needs, with your own UI. can't beat that.
i run linux inside mac OS and love every minute of it. and i still have the bells and whistles that i paid so much for back when i had money. waaaahhh. :( haha
Only to bad, that linux doesn't have professional audio software. I worked with linux for around a year, and i hated the drivers. No line in support on whatever soundcard, mic input sucked also. The only audio software available is kind of LMMS, Ardour and audactity. And the windows version of LMMS (wich stands for LINUX multimedia studio) has much more features. Also midi sucks on linux and JACK is a pain.
like i said, you can program your own software to work how you want it to. it's hard, for sure, but it's 100% doable. i use linux for 90% of my computing. the media stuff is handled mostly by mac OS.
i grew up with windows and used to think it was quite superior. now it's just passable, as far as i'm concerned. but it could also be a marketing ploy. like how coke and pepsi trade off on sales and whatnot to make it seem like there's competition when they're really in cahoots, you know?
I completely agree with your last sentence. I do have to *personally* disagree that PC's are better for live performance than mac's, it sounds like it works for you, which is way cool. I like being able to "get up and go" without hassle, so I sacrifice customization for stability in terms of not having to tread lightly to avoid issues. Some people are up for that, and I respect them for it, but I don't like to spend a bunch of time tweaking my setup. Nonetheless, I still like PC's.
i also agree. im a young dj and im jus gettin into it. but i know a lot about computers and i personally will choose a pc over a mac anyday. i mean a lot of products wwork better for pcs anyway. plus the money u spend on a mac. u could get urself a two decent laptops. now u have a backup.
Well, I spent $2000 on my mac, because I wanted high power and durability. The thing about PCs is that they don't have the lifetime of a Mac. PC users inevitably spend more over their lifetime than Mac users because of updates for security software, updating their OS, upgrading hardware, buying a new computer, etc. A mac user can keep their computer relatively the same for years and only keep up to date on their OS and still have a very good computer.
PC users spend more because PC software takes real processing power. Mac software (what there is of it) is generally pretty Mickey Mouse in comparison.
Wow, I really hope you're trolling me, because if you are, good job! Given your blatant ignorance, I've decided not to waste my time stressing myself out and getting upset, and instead will insult you mindlessly, because I'm cool like that. You're a good for nothing faggot. Go burn to death in a car fire, you snot-nosed ignorant little shit. Why don't you do the world a favor and take your u83R-p0\/\/3|2|=µ|_ PC and smash it over your head? Don't forget to post it here on YouTube!
Ok, you and your little cult enjoy the 4 pieces of software available for the Mac, the rest of us will enjoy using hardware made sometime in the past five years without paying the price of an economy car...
I have to agree with this, overall a mac is more reliable and that's what one really needs as musician. PCs can be more fun because of the amount of software there is, but they're not exactly good for work or art, especially if you need a reliable system.
Dude here to say I bought a mac about a year ago still using it good computer right? I have replaced my buffer twice and fixed 3 viruses (yes they do get them...) and mac won't cover it because i am "abusing my mac" from mixing music...so don't feed us the mac is good shit k?
You're full of shit. Unless you tried to torrent iWork 3 times in a row, there's no way you got 3 viruses, much less 3 DIFFERENT viruses. FYI, that's not even a virus, it's called a trojan.

kobyc1 2 years ago
@kobyc1 could you send me a link for the remapping possibly? thanks

If I had them I would give them to you but due to the fact that I do not own a vestax controller(yet) I cannot get them to you

Thats kind of something you...do on your own, to get....the result you're looking for?
