  • I don't care for this particular arrangement of the song, however they played the HELL out of it. Good job NSU.

  • yesss yall played the hell out of that song...

  • Tubas and trumpets oh my good.!

  • My GAWD The Trumpets Killed this Joint!!!

  • NSU, I like to thank you for taking the reigns of the Dirty Diana franchise...very musical and balanced and almost nasty! lol, your B-tones, trumpets, and Tubas really give you your power!

  • wow,,dey had a screamer

  • This is well worth the damn near 70,000 views it has. NSU does a great job of meshing musicality with sheer power. May be the best at it. Well done.

  • That's one of those endings where all you can say is "damn..."

  • The trumpet makes me feel mediocer ...i play all brass...they are pretty beast..now i know they're majority black and i have nothing against that ... but they ..just damn ..they can play

  • lOVE IT BAND EXCELLENT

  • Vsu play it better

  • @lilbob223 im gonna act like i never saw this....

    carry on....

  • @calypsogroove2004 noooo u can see it i mean its rite there

  • The band is amazing! The drum majors suck at syncing.

  • Tubas culdve been better on the solo (meaning the arrangement shuldve made the Tubas show out) but Norfolk OWNS this song!

  • is it me or are they small

  • @TheDragonmaster18 its just yuh

  • Dem Bones and Mellos.

  • i swear this is the sexiest arrangement of Dirty Diana!! Lord help me please!! um um um!! that low brass....Lord!!

  • Nsu what happen,um im srry but um vsu killed this song.they play it way bettA

  • Not really being racist or anything but I love seeing white chicks on hbcu dance teams!!! It adds difference to the same old same old!!! And its even better when they can actually dance!!

  • Tubas aren't hitting the lower notes correctly.. And this arrangement is missing something.. Sounds spaced out

  • MORE DRUMLINE

  • @tdbjf yea tell Paul I Adams that...unless your band has a better rep for being consisent then my school STFU...its so wack how someone without a degree will try to say what is missing or not. Its like tryin to tell a heart surgeon he didn't do something right when you only went to school to be a medicall assitant.SMH...

  • @Tenorplaya if you must know I have MY degree and an extensive background in music and point blank this is missing something. It's just my opinion and I stand by it.. I live, breath, and eat music DAILY man so YES I know what I am talking about..

  • Miles got this one...NSU is missing something in the arrangement.

  • whoa trumpets lol

  • @usm2010 u dry lol 08-09 diana kills this

  • MILES

  • that was a sweet ripple

  • Ya betta Do iT....

  • i like it

  • whoa!! the trumpet note is uber high!! lol

  • They aint fuckin wit PV's version. They playin it tooooooooo SOFT!!!

  • your judging that based off a 2007 clip? look for the 2009 version different story and besides when they play it they play it just like you would hear it on the song itself. its about playing the music strong when necessary.

  • how bout luukin at nsu's 09 version, dis is dhe past, open yo eyes in luuk into dha future, cuz nsu is surely there shittin on PV

  • @dalcowb LOL @ playing it toooooo soft. Its called dynamics! I tell you the musically illiterate!

  • Okay, I understand starting soft then gradually increasing the intensity of sound (thats a crescendo for the "musically illiterate") but not one time did I ever hear the power in this song.

Oh and playing soft is also the same as "piano" which is an element of dynamics so u can softly kiss my ass...dumbass. LOL

  • u mean to tell me the end of the song wasnt powerful. it was perfect power u didnt hear anybody hangin over any notes or nothing.. tempo stayed constant trombones had the verse. played it great. didnt take any breaks. i dnt understand where ur coming from. just because the arrangement wasnt nothing but chords like miles u dnt feel the power? i bet its harder to play what this band plays at a volume ur looking for anyway.

  • U r right, it was powerful, it just wasnt PV or SU powerful.

Im just used to listening to PV's volume, which they maintain very well, so sometimes I think other bands r playing soft when they r blowing. But u r right, the end of the song was powerful.

  • I'm not impressed with your watered down explanations or your meager understanding of dynamics. Your initial response told me all I needed to know about your comprehension of music and band. Take that internet thuggery over to a PV clip. I'm sure you enjoy their "dynamics" better LOL

  • I dont give a damn if u r impressed or not & I sure dont give a damn about u trying to make urself sound smart cause u r nobody.

Obviously u dont know much about music poin dexter & yes, I do enjoy PV better cause they r better than NSU. As a matter of fact, who is NSU? Ive never heard of them but I bet u heard of PV.

Oh & kiss my ass! LOL

  • I actually never heard of PV until I got to college and that was in '99, soooooo what's your point? There's a difference between playing with "intensity" and playing out of the context of the instrument, which the two bands you used as example commonly have issues doing.

  • are you serious? PV???

Too soft? Please go take a look at current NSU 2009 Dirty Diana clips and tell me they playin it too soft again. And while you at it look at tear the club up or Poker face too.

  • best version on you tube.

  • ay they just cranked this shit nice job

  • ah were this band from/

  • virginia

  • what the fuck video are you watching...

  • da same fucking 1 u watching

  • look for the 2009 version

  • Yeah....07 owns this song...

  • I heard Miles version and I disagree. Too many bands trying to play this are adding things that are not in the original song and to me that takes away from it.

  • Everything Miles played in 2005 is in the real song. What are you talking about? I did a comparison to the real song and its all there.

  • i think at the part where its supposed to go "DIRTY DIANA" they should have added a fall

  • beast.

  • the trumpets RAPED this song lmfao shit CRANKED

  • lol they're the realest trumpet line in the fuckin world

  • FUCK OUTTA HERE

  • i like it but it seem like dey tried to put too much flavor in it... otherwise, it was straight

  • we say HALUZ in our country.. reaky) but nice

  • Moving lines is what you want...the great Paul I. Adams writes most of NSU's music. And when he doesnt write, he proof reads student arranged music. So moving lines is not a problem for NSU. An i do enjoy some unisons note of power every now an then, it shows intensity, and that WOW factor. To me FAMU's problem is that they try to put so many moving lines that its confusing and takes away from it soundling like the song. Everyone cant play moving lines at the same time.

  • I think NSU would take FAMU. It would be a good battle but in the end NSU would come out on top. FAMU cant try an play a sound quality battle with NSU cause the Legion has one of the greatest sounds around. But one thing NSU has that will take FAMU everytime is Power, Aggression, an Intensity. FAMU plays with none of these. They both sound really good, but NSU would win the crowd with their those 3 key things. Its not all about power, but sometimes you just gotta turn the shit on up.

  • LMAO last time NSU seen FAMU it wasn't even a clost battle FAMU eat them up naw tell NSU to bring their band to FAMU homecoming and we will see what happens. It's funny people for get what The 100 did to ASU and SU and how they have own everybody yall say are better then them.

  • This is soooo...a NSU video, not VSU so i think you should leave that comment on one of their videos...it serves no purpose on this vid

  • that isn't vsu it NSU

  • Okay, first a contra is basically a tuba tuned on its side and rests on your shoulder the same as a sousaphone. Secondly, DCI uses contras, who the hell cares about a University when pro corps are using contras. And yeah, they have a better sound. Look it up.

  • DCI isnt the only group that uses contras, some high schools do. As for the sound, it depends on the players and the instrument. Not all contras sound the same, likewise with sousaphones. By far the best playing sousaphones are the Conn 46K and 48K, but they don't make these anymore because of their size and weight. If you ever get a chance to play one you'll see it tops even some pro concert tubas. Lastly you can compare HBCU bands to DCI, they are completely different.

  • wow, that's a retarted thing to say.

  • You do realize that a contra is in G, doesn't project nearly as well around a stadium, and doesn't carry that sweet King or Conn tone made popular during the pre WWI period, right? Besides, comparing sousaphones to contras is like comparing a bass tuba to a contrabass tuba, each has its own pros and cons, unfortunately most college and universities prefer sousaphones because of the power that can belt out throughout the stadium. Besides who are you to call out a major university?

  • Call me stupid but explain to me what a contra is? I know your not talking bout dat big arse woodwind?? IN MARCHING BAND?? That would be hell to be marching on da field with. lmao

  • 0:15 Tenor Saxes right?

  • & baritones. They usually play the same parts

  • Yes, as well as euphoniums.

  • Both tenor and alto. I can tell

  • THIS MAKES ME WANNA CRY!... IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!.... AND WHO CARES WAT U THINK ABOUT HOT ICE'S UNIFORMS!... THE DANCING COVERS UP ANY OTHER IMPERFECTIONS :p

  • That was sick.

  • This the shit!!!! I love this song fa sho!!!!1

  • This arrangement is cold as hell, GO NORFOLK!!!!!

  • Wow this was really good. :) This is my fav MJ song ever!

  • the dancers uniforms are U-G-L-Y!!!!!

  • this joint sound so sexy

good job kendra and derick i hear u do ya dam thing out there

    ballou KNIGHTS

  • You all might need to take a few notes from MILES on this . Thats ok thoe keep yall head up It still sounded good .

  • YEAH!!!! NSU all day baby!!

  • dat shit wuz fuccin beautiful...T_BONES UP!!!!!!!!

  • theres some parts in this song dat dnt really need screaming dizziacs...like the beginning. but nice arrangement tho...

  • daaam mi mans kendra and derrick play for norfolk

    ballou all day

  • oh man those lovely Horny Horns... lol

  • diggin this

  • Whole different key from VSU. It just....sounds......like...Not VSU.

  • I wish ppl would stop sleepin on NSU cus dey represent da MEAC conference well n 2 all yal VSU heads, NSU get at yal evry year n yal knw it. NSU is very clean n precise. dey r one of my favorite bands besides BCU. dissappointed dat dey not goin back 2 honda so dey can show all da otha HBCU bands dat NSU aint playin no games...BEHOLD THE GREEN AND GOLD!!!

  • nothing wrong with your opinion...i just hope you don't play tuba...

anyways even though this dirty diana is in F. i appreciate it better than miles' because there's balance and people are playing more than whole notes and half notes.

no offense to miles but i prefer arrangements that can be played with volume and requires some musicality as well.

  • Lol no i dont play tuba but like i said both arrangements are good but i personally prefer miles arrangement on this song. Now nsu as a whole band is better than miles in my opinion

  • good call.

  • All I know iz dat dis band right here, they sound good az hell right bout now! and I think ill go check out dis band dat people say sucks in a few.

  • As true as that is...theres no way you will get me to agree that VSU's sloppy, wish they were as loud as NSU or SU but will never have the numbers, no sense for playin in tune will ever be better than this...plain an simple...theres nothing exciting about that...They play this song with the same format as NSU so i dont get whats so exciting...

  • Okay, let me set the record straight! VSU's band suck period. NSU is the best band in the MEAC. I have been attending their football games for the past 3 years and they have crushed every band in that conference! And, they have made mince meat of VSU every year at the Labor Day Classic. VSU is sloppy on and off the field. How are you going to be sloppy in the stands? Hands down, the Spartan Legion Marching Band is the best! However, I wish they would get rid of the damn white girl.

  • lol about the white girl she not that bad though lol but yea i been goin to nsu games since 03 and I can tell the difference NSU has changed but that's what happens I mean we can't play in the band for the rest of our lives (FAMU) but as far as any other band in the MEAC they all fall short to NSU not gonna say sorry because it's the truth Go NSU

  • so all yall think that NSU is better than FAMU, lets be real here.

  • Im not FAMU or NSU fan but I think FAMU is over rated majorly!

  • LOL FAMU being over rated how come on every College band video you have something to say about The 100? Man let them be you on NSU video enjoy their sound man you don't have to bring up FAMU sounds like a hater.

  • Lol maybe you should read some more of my comments only time I say something about famu is when someone brings them up "claiming how good they are" or when im watching a video of theirs "rarely". In this case my comment was a response to someone else. I dont even really listen to MEAC bands like that, im more of a SWAC type of person.

  • Oh so your more of a Unison note fan LMAO it's funny that the SWAC is more on a HS level when it comes to arragnements dont get me wrong I like PVU and SU and JSU and some of their arrangments but i wouldn't take their over all sound over FAMU or BCU.

  • lol well thats the good thing about america we all have our opinions, but i disagree with u in terms of SWAC having hs arrangments.

  • They play with unison notes and they layer whole and half notes lmao if thats not HS then what is?

  • Maybe on some arrangments but defiently not all. But thats for all bands im sure FAMU layers alot of their notes also.

  • Yea they layer notes but in almost all of FAMU arrangements they have more then 2 moving parts.

  • VSUs arrangement was WAY BETTER!! NSU always been rather boring to me compare to VSU sorry!

  • sounds like a crab hater to me.

  • B.S, but I will give you your opinion, but I also guarantee that if NSU played this at the same time as VSU their sound would be totaly coverd...you prolly wont hear not a one note after 1:20 in this video...well that is ofcorse when the song is over...actually a couple seconds after cause NSU's echo will prolly cover their sound also...

  • Well Duhhhhh NSU band is BIGGER! I guess you wouldn't heard VSU lol! Thats just common sense. Because they're bigger doesn't make them bigger! I fell asleep coming back to listen to this today! BORING babes!

  • I meant to say because "They're BIGGER doesn't mean they're BETTER"

  • you are delusional. You know DAMN WELL that NSU shits an Vstate...

  • Ya'll Dirty Diana is oc i love it

  • why didnt the girls dance

  • NSU has the best dirty Diana overall. VSU has the best tuba arrangement. Miles was good.

  • I thnk Miles arrangement was betta especially da tuba part but NSU's arrangement is a great one also

  • on our arrangement..the trombones get to play a super g...and im the only one who can play it...it is fun

  • got damn yall was deep

  • I agree

  • I love this song !!!

  • Nice tone. Clean!!! good job.

  • Okay...thanx..I don't why I didn't know that...Big UpZ to NSU...

  • Blue-Phiii soror

  • Is this an HBCU?

  • Yes Zeta dear, this Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. They are in the MEAC conferance.

  • 0:12-0:50 very nice sectional playing and nice togetherness but listen to 1:05 they give you a hint of things to come and then 1:20-1:32 it's over

  • its so sweet and soft...love it

  • I SO LOVE THIS VERSIONNNNNNN!!!

  • The Legion keeps that white girl...LOL

  • OMG! Its so clear i'm loving it!

  • the best band in the land /the world period

  • They tubas are raw!!

  • that super G at :57 was in tune as fuck! the whole thing is beastin tho!

  • Miles would kill dem on dis!

  • dude that was a big mistake, shouldnt have done that.

  • I love NSU...

    They murdered that shit 4real...

  • Not really a fan of this song, but that junk beasts. No denying that

  • dont deny it, u love the song...no need to say "im not a fan of this son BUT" if u dont like it.

  • wat happen? the legion was way bigger at botb in o7 or o6 i think

  • we were packed in those small arse stands

  • i like miles better but yall cranked it

  • I love this song!

  • MILES STARTED SOMETHING WIT DIS SONG

  • Like how VSU "crushed" them at the Labor Day Classic? Y'all need to start appreciating other bands more.

  • But VSU sucks...I have the tape of the LDC from this year if you want some proof? OO my my bad, well the only thing worth watching is NSU and Horsepower.
