I can think of only two words to describe this group and their sound. Awesome and WOW. I usually cringe when I see someone else doing Metallica songs in other mediums, but this was awesome.

Well, obviously, I mean the strings do not go out of tune. Guess what, a lady had her carbon fiber cello with her stuck in a blizzard. She had to drag it home and it had water all over it. She wiped it off with a paper towel, and it stayed in tune!  A wooden cello would be waterlogged and damaged. And yes, carbon fiber cellos would have a dark sound too.

No. They just provide a louder, clearer more natural sound without using amplifiers. They also are stronger than steel and do not get out of tune. So if they wanna show off by throwing their cellos on the floor, they can, and they won't break compared to wood. Wood was 500 years ago, we gotta step it up a notch by showing that carbon fiber is the new deal. And like I said, carbon fiber is stronger than STEEL.

if im not mistaken one of them has a strad wich was made sevral hundred years ago. carbon fiber instraments are not as good. tust me the instraments themselves do not go out of tune it is the strings wich are metal not carbon fiber. you do not get the same sound as you would get from wood you get a heigher (cant spell so what) bright sound where wood has a more darker rich sound if you knew music and instamental theory you would know this.

Because the early Metallica has melodic qualities that rock music doesn't have in abundance anymore. If you made a string cover of most metal music today it would be pretty damn boring. Most Rock music today is 3 patterns with a solo somewhere in the middle to end. /shrug

They COULD cover a lot of good music as well... like Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Guns'N'Roses, etc etc. The older stuff.

actually the first song i heard by apocalyptica was a cover of griegs hall of the mountain king, im sure they would have made their own stuff but the covers of metallica was basically the rocket strapped to their ass XD

At this time they sort of had an idea. When they stopped making covers and write their own material it became apparent that the only thing they ever had was that it's just stuff played with 4 cellos (3 nowadays I think). Take away the cellos and there is nothing... no content at all.

No I havent listened to any of their other songs, but I felt that people here was accusing Metallica of being bad and said that these guys were awesome. I dont really think u can compare these two bands at all, they have nothing in common except that Apocalyptica made some covers of Metallica. Sorry to jump on Apocalyptica but I felt i had to say something to those who think Metallica sux. Anyway im sure those who listen to this kind of music think Apocalyptica is good, but I prefer Metallica.

I'm really not impressed with this. Metallica had the piano. and the trumpet beginning. the chello is kinda whimpy. they should have gone with a violin. becuase the violin has a very crisp, and not whinny tone to it as the chello does.

The original "Unforgiven" is quite simply an unlistenable mess of shit.

Metallica isn't THAT original, there were other bands at the time doing the same thing they were. And just because they were original 20 years ago doesn't mean they still are, or that they're even any good. James is a terrible singer. Lars is a bad drummer. Kirk is a mediocre guitarist with bad compositional skills, and nobody gives a shit about their current bassist.
