  • BHO is keeping Club Gitmo open, bombing Libya without seeking authorization of force from Congress, and set to allow military tribunals for terror suspects.

  • @sassygirl345 before Obama was elected he discussed his plans to stay in Iraq until it was more stable & then pull out.He also discussed sending many more troops to Afghanistan after pulling out of Iraq & trying to stabilize things there & then leaving ASAP.These things where written on his official website as early as the primaries. It would be completely insane & would lead to an utter collapse of the new governments for him to do anything else. You should have been paying attention.

  • Why isn't there a discussion about the hypocrisy of Canadians who claim to be open-minded & accepting of individuals of other nations while continually bashing and harassing Americans. How do those Canadians reconcile this? Obama is not a socialist but the fact is that no country can truly be 100% socialist (or collectivist) or capitalist without completely destroying itself & so in the US we have some socialist programs.Aside from that however Americans have a long history of charity/community.

  • It is painful having to wait, listening to this man, before Paul McKeever gets to point out the facts.

  • America is going to be a Socialist like the rest of the World? wtf not true you Dumb ass Canadians, we Americans don't want that shit in our Country!!

  • @r2d23678 Many of us Canadians are concerned and hope to warn those of your fellow U.S. citizens who are fooled by the notion that sharing is as valuable as production.

Obama is a socialist and he is your current president.

  • By the way. I have heard claims, which I believe, that American have already had it with Obama. His ratings have dropped lower and faster than any other President. The two party system is morphing in to a co-party system The Republicrats. Both parties advocate that Government is the solution for everything. I finally feel confident in voting Libertarian this time because I lose either way with the co-party. There is no lesser evil anymore. Ron Paul looks like the best choice to me.

  • @kindly4real Have you looked into Rand Paul, who was recently elected?

  • I'd like to say that I was personally offended by hearing a couple of Canadians passing judgment on us (Americans). I guess that means that I still have some national pride. If the same things were said by American, I would have been able to handle it more easily. I know thats a reflection on me. I accept others to have their opinions and I know that these men are well schooled. And so I appreciate hearing a perspective from outsiders. Its very telling.

  • You can't even tell Paul McKeever is a capitalist in this video for the first 20 minutes. He only acts as an individual who honestly evaluates the issues and sees the philosophical depth of them. The professor constantly pronounced moral judgments on capitalism and individualism, while Paul never evaluated them as good, nor was he denouncing "you are your brother's keeper" as immoral.

  • Hi Paul

I enjoy that you stick up for the truth and not buckle under like most people, but that you want only to be rational. And what is great is that you put deeper layers like metaphysic and etics into the total explanation about politics which perhaps sounds crazy to most people to begin with, but it is what it takes.

  • I agree with your philosophy except for a few points. Unregulated Capitalism depends on people acting rationally to be successful but the thing about this is that people DON"T act rationally all the time. Also I disagree with you on taxation, we do need taxes for the roads we drive on and such...

As far as egoism. What happens if a guy leaves his girlfriend who is pregnant with his child?

You should strive to build your OWN philosophy and being discerning is KEY.

  • You need to think a bit more outside the box, although your questions are fair....I'll let Paul answer you himself since you asked him.

  • The beauty of unregulated capitalism is that the people who fail to act rationally fail, and are allowed to fail because of their irrationality.

Capitalism rewards those who act rational, and forces the irrational to reap the consequences of their own irrationality.

As for taxes, if we truly needed roads and such, then we would volunteer to pay for them. If it is a true rational necessity, then we would volunteer to pay for those things after rational calculation.

  • Hey Paul,

Was Christina laughing at your response because it was funny (which is was) or because she was nervous?

  • I think Christine is just genuinely delighted to have someone say things such as I say on her show. Although we respect one another, I sure she must consider me somewhat of a 'character', and I think she probably is thinking, half of the time: "I wonder what's going to come out of this man's mouth next!".

  • It's not everyday you see a genuine human being. Her laughter, or perception of you as a character might be because she doesn't know how to respond when faced with a human being.

I appreciate you posting these videos. It's a great insight not only to your philosophy, but how that philosophy reacts when placed in a dialogue.

  • McKeever Rocks.

  • The elephant in the room that I would have attacked was the notion held by both the host and the other guest (not Paul) was that reason/faith, individualism/collectivism, capitalism/socialism can and do coexist. The other guest even went so far as to imply that it's that mix which the US was explicitly founded upon.

In fact, the US was (tragically only partially) founded upon reason, but because of a lack of consistency, it couldn't stand up to it's religious traditions.

  • I wish you hadn't been so polite, Paul. There were a number if horribly false things they said whare I was thinking, "C'mon! Interrupt and disprove that!"

  • What was that second caller about? they should have hung up on her straight away.

  • I have commented before about how little the callers add to the discussion. I liked it better before when just the panellists and Christine would hold the discussion.

  • 23:17 "Man is a dick...."

    That's the conservative sentiment exactly!

  • Ouch at 10:00.

  • The most painful part of the video for me was at 10 minutes in when Christine states the false dichotomy between altruism and irrational selfishness as a given by saying that there must be limits on our individualism because the community is inevitably sacrificed.

I'm surprised that with as many times that Paul has been on her show she would still have no concept of rational self interest. Maybe she's just playing devil's adovocate, but I really wish that Paul got a few seconds to talk there.

  • Christine was talking way too much in this one.

  • Excellent presentation, Paul!

  • Good job!

  • Hating Bush Fassionable? Nah. It was a genuine emotion.

Besides, I expect any polititian will do what it thinks is right. That doesn't mean that what it does will work the way it intends.

And I think the reason, reason vanishes so frequently is this desire to exist effortlessly. McKeever's got that bang on. Absolve responsibility, and blame those who told you what to believe. (Easier to fall asleep at church, than pay attention in college.)

  • Hating Bush Fassionable? Nah. It was a genuine emotion.

  • "I don't think individuals are capable of sustaining that rationality for very long..." *sigh*

  • "how is it possible that a bank can even go out of business...?" lmao! If she was actually asking this question whatever view she has loses almost all credibility.

  • 5 stars!

  • The people you were talking with didn't know much about economics let alone Ayn Rand :( Good points as usual. I'll be honest though, I forgive Barrack less than Bush because I know his history.

  • Yes, Bush was very much a socialist. I classify both as Keynesians. And they are going to run our country to the ground.
