Speaking of croissants... Meant to mention that I did a recent remake of your "Beefy Taco Bake," and instead of Bisquick, used a tube of Croissants. Rolled them out REALLY thin to make both a top and bottom crust... (cont'd)
I used corn meal on the board instead of flour to add a "tacoey" texture to the dough, and pre-baked the bottom crust for 10 minutes. Mixed the other ingredients in the pan with the meat (including half a can of pinto beans just because I wanted to), poured them in, added the cheese, and topped with the other half of the crust. It turned out VERY good. It altogether eliminated the issue of too much crust in the Bisquick version.
