  • Im in st.louis. All the new stadiums look almost the same. The old shea was dump, but at least it had character.

  • that field did us nothing but good

    GO METS

  • Man First Stadium I went to I'm ganna miss it.I was dissipointed that their calling the new stadium Citi Feild,it should be called Gil Hodges Stadium or something like that.Wjo agrees with me?

  • You spelled Citi Field wrong!

  • Goddamn, I'm gonna miss this place. There will seriously be a tear in my eye when I watch the implosion.

  • No implosion.. Apparently the city of New York prohibits demolition by implosion. They're apparently just going to dismantle Shea bit by bit.. An implosion would have been a more dignified end..

  • Fuck that, it seems since 9/11, they would prohibit implosion because they think the terrorists are going to sabotage it or something.

  • they cant implode it it is illegal in new york state

  • great pics! Brought back alot of memories...they should never have taken those orange and blue corrugated tin panels down from the outside :)

  • Good music, awesome pics!

  • wow i cant belive its gonna be Gay citi feild with less seats and twice as much. there putting 5000 less seats just for demand and more cash. thats real gay. Didnt William Shea find the New York Mets?

  • i drove by this on my way back from Hartford and you could acually see how much lower the finished part of Citi feild is than shea.

  • nope he helped establish the mets, he wasnt exactly the founder

  • This is new thing with new retro-style ballparks. Lower capacities, higher prices. Everyone's doing it, even the Yankee's are lowering their capacity by about 5,500 in the new stadium, even though they easily fill up the current stadium every single game.

  • the thing i hate the most about citi field is there are less seats how stupid is that

  • the seats will also cost twice as much. and there will be no season plans. in 06 i had a season pass to go to every home sunday game including a met-yankee game, but in 09 their will be no season plans.

  • They will still continue to have both season ticket and partial ticket plans in Citi Field, the same ones they have now at Shea. Also, the ticket prices won't double. It will probably be about the same rise in ticket prices that they put on this year.

  • oh really, thanks for telling me, last i heard they weren't gonna do that in Citi Feild.

    -KEVIN-

  • No problem.

  • its actually not that bad you truly dont need as many seats as shea had

  • Yes Shea was used for Football but The picture that the football field is from the 2000s in this video.( Note the scoreboard and the color of the seats of the 2000s era and the words SHEA STADIUM)

  • I think this was dubbed out, befor they had the plan for the Jets "west side stadium" someone thought it would be a good idea to let them play at shea again, mabe they just dubbed this to show what it would look like.

  • Actually I think it might just be a High School game or something. I'm pretty sure they kept running stuff like that right up until the last few years.

  • maybe once i went to a highschool baseball game there and it was awsome. they told us to only stay on feild level but since sercurity sucked that day me and my friends went up to the top and had the whole section to our selfs. but thats only cause the highschool team sucked.

    -KEVIN-

  • Or it could have been when the Jets played there in the 70's.

  • It's sad to see Shea go. But wth it was used as a football stadium? WTF?

  • yea back in the 60's the Jets played there, i didn't make a good football stadium because of the design of Shea made it so wind would swirl around inside, so the "Swirling Winds" are great for baseball but sucks for football.

i still can't believe the mets aren't in the play-off

    -KEVIN-

  • Hey Jomommalerch, Its a great all purpose stadium though. It was used for a funeral for all of the Met's fan's expectations at the end of 2007. What flowers did you send??
