Hi Robert, great video. i invite you to view my channel. perhaps you may see other solutions. Don't discount the power of micro controller. All my projects use them, along with a custom remote. it helps having over 12 ch without the cost of a 12 ch remote. i have not taken on a rc lawnmower yet, looks fun. you may see one from me soon.
I see you are using a separate battery for your AR5000. I've heard there is problems using the BEC on the Sabertooth for the RC receiver? If so, maybe a separate BEC could be used? Keep up the good work!
Im glad to see im not the only one who makes these! I made mine out of a push mower rigged to an old wheelchair motor. The drive motors are windshield wiper motors, and i am using a 15A esc ( i think it was sabertooth ). It is VERY compact. About 1x2 feet. Good for small areas
Hi Robert, would ye be able at some stage to do a how to of how youve got the sabertooth 2x25 set up? im making an rc golf trolley and it would be a massive help to me to see how yours is set up. great work and keep it up! alternatively if you could take some pics of it so i can see how its connected that would be sick.
@ihave2rocks The price for the controller is around $129. It is called the Sabertooth 2x25. Google that. As for the motors, those vary in price since people just sell those separate when they dissemble electric wheelchairs. eBay that :)
I personally prefer using a dx3 steering wheel controller .
check out my video's my mowers don't have a frame and the motors are tucked in tight giving you much better cutting up close to objects. I really like your video.
Nice break into the world of R/C: this is pretty much exactly the same setup i have on my mower. sabbertooth 2X25, spectrum DX7 (i fly helicopters too), 2x 12v lead acid batteries in series (if im mowing) or paralel (if a friend is mowing), and a pair of wheel chair motors.
I can hook you up with parts for this project. I build and sell remote control lawn mowers. I have a contact in china and I wouldn't mind helping you out.
@TheRemoteMower Wow, I really appreciate that. I wish I had ran into you a few months ago as I've already purchased 90% of all my parts and have most of the final design completed now...haha. I'll take note of your username though in case I build a second lawn mower in the future ;)
@RobertSmith3 Thanks for the quick reply, I have been looking around at different systems including Audrino and other expensive and complicated controls, this will cut the price of controlling the mower by heaps and will make it so simple to hook up :) Now to find cheap wheel chair motors in Aus. Thanks, Kramer.

Good video, wish you showed close up of connections on motorcontroller. Why not use Arduino? Isn't that cheaper?

so if you put 24 volt to the motor controller it wont hurt it none. i no you are using 12 volt now but it wont hurt it for 24 volt.
257corey257 7 months ago
@257corey257 Nope, the controller is made to handle 6-24V nominal and 30v absolute max.

@Kramerfuckthis Google: Sabertooth 2x25, it should pop up as the first listing :)
