I would disagree because in Purcell's will, within the first sentence he invokes the name of God twice, the second in the form of praise. With his signature at the bottom affirming the contents at the top, I would say that actually he himself professes belief in a deity.

that would be pretty awesome, and im not saying that your wrong, but alot of his songs had to do with "god". he just seemed like a pretty religious person, like many of the composers of that time were.
