But he used Ludwig drums kit. This is Yamaha.

Hey can you please tell me your technique on playing drums? Do you just listen to the song a couple of times and then you copy the drums? Because that's the way I do it. I liten to the song "Let it Be" a couple of times and I got the beginning first verse right until I had to hit the two tom and big tom in the middle of the verse before the guitar solo.

It is impossible to copy the drums by listening a couple of times for me. I have listened to songs many times by cannot the count.

I think listening to songs and copy the drumming parts is stupid. It's like you let someone do something and try to copy exactly what he did, you'll never truely understand it and never truely be able to copy it one-by-one.

Either you have the sheet for something and play after the notation, or you improvisate inspired by the original. Or you improvisate inspired by the sheet, that's possible, too

Stupid is to write stupid things. You are free to recreate (like this man) or improvisate (like you said) and both ways are correct. And you can do that listening or reading a sheet, both ways are correct. Where is the stupid?
