  • One of the most sincere, hearfelt and touching retirement speech I have heard!

  • I remember I watched this with my dad. I saw tears running down his cheeks... that was the first time I saw my dad cry.

  • i was at that match and everyone was booing becker and screaming GO HOME BECKER

  • I'm pissed off at all the haters who basically judge a beautiful moment without really knowing much of the backstory. Critics of this are IMHO are projecting their own negativity on whatever they happen to be viewing at the moment. If it was somebody else they'd jump all over them just as personally. You weak spirits, just move on to the next target of your drive by criticism and leave this without your stain. Weak people. Thanks, Andre for your heart.

  • jeeez what a load of shit

  • @koolfraser You're an idiot

  • @koolfraser

I was a tremendous Agassi fan at one point....but he is probably the most fake guy in the history of tennis. Even for people who don't know that, I can't quite fathom how people could be so moved by such a ridiculous pre-written speech. It's probably the most painful farewell I've seen....and not in a good way.

  • @datacipher i dont find a bad word to descibe your attitude. you bullshit...

  • @kas6980

This statement was incomprehensible. However, let me speak to you spontaneously...and from the heart...just off the top of my head: You Kas6980, fly with songbirds to where the angels play and sing. Perhaps, just one day, we could all speak with the magical words that flow form you as a mountain waterfall of cold, pure, glacier water tumbles from above. Your words envelop us in the greatest support, love, friendship, caring, honesty, integrity, hopefulness, and purity....

  • ....that we have ever ever known....thank you giving us this. Thank you from the bottom of my eternal soul, and from the souls of all who come before and after me, for giving us this magic gift, of your words.

Oh...whooops, stole that from a Spontaneous Agassi speech....

  • Yeah alright Andre, you're not the Dalai Lama.

  • Still one of my most favorite moments ever from sports- Andre acknowledging the fans and the sport. "You've given me your shoulders to stand on, to reach for my dreams." Love it.

  • Thank You Andre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for being genuine, being a poet, and always wanted to hit harder! Harder!!!! I came to love tennis, the sport you hated so much! I have seen nearly all f your matches with my Grandma'! Now, you are not playing, and my dear Granny has been escorted by the angels just before Xmas. God bless you Andre for giving me awesome experience, and now giving me nostalgia. Go kick some butts buddy!!!

  • I was in Manhatten watching this on TV in a restaurant. I turned around and there was about 20 people behind me from the street who stopped what they were doing to watch this, many with tears in there eyes. What a profound statement of one man's life. What Andre Agassi has meant to the sport of tennis all these years is simply priceless!!

  • I love him. I remember watching this on TV and crying during that speech. What a genuine, real, and thoughtful person. And what an addition to the world of tennis. He will forever be remembered as one of the best in the sport.

  • The man is truly a genuine person. Best speech by a true athlete of his time. Best to you and your family. The book "OPEN" is awesome.

  • Great Andre....Brazil loves you....

  • agassi is a biigg man! as in tennis as in his life, unique with character. He has found a real nice family, people, and more. I really hope the best in his life, and thanks to andre who entertained us all with greatest tennis ever.

  • Agassi was far more likeable than Sampras

  • Best speech ever SPORT speech ever...It can almost even top Barack Obama's:P

  • I completely agree. Incredibly moving and perfectly articulates the tremendous love athletes can have for their sport. I cry every time I hear it.

  • @truebeatlegirl You should read his autobiography. He secretly hated tennis in a way x

  • i was there at that game. u know benjamin becker was giving him a bunch of dropshots. he was 31. but the chair umpire sucked ass. agassi had no challenges left (his first two were really close but they went to becker ) and becker hit a shot that was at least half a foot out and the chair umpire called it in. the whole stadium erupted in like screaming and the ball boys were laughing and agassi was like WHAT?. it was ridiculous. it was really long i swear i sat right behind agassi

  • I love tennis and I am a tennis fan as well as a tennis player,Agassi was not my favorite tennis player but he is a legend and I always respected him. Even though I was not a fan of him he made me cry with such a magnificent speech...Way to go to the most humble tennis player from his era...the Legend=Agassi!

  • this made my cry....so good and awesome i looove him!!!!

  • lost against a b. becker what an ironic!life is full with surprises!^^

  • Agassi was good, but Sampras was amazing.

  • Agassi was amazing, Sampras was of the chart.

Although Agassi does have a bit of greatness that even the great Sampras couldn't achieve, or Federer yet. WInning all 4 slams. This puts Agassi up there with the all time greats for me.

  • he was my role model as a child. then i lost interest in tennis for a while. when i came back, i found out he had retired. i just can't believe he's really gone

  • 1992 when he won was just the best!!!!!!!! we love you A A ps i did cry!

  • THE BEST! love this guy!

  • I cried when he said this. He is such a legend. I can't believe that he really is gone off the court for good

  • Such a shame we will never see the name Andre Agassi in a draw ever again.

  • y is everyone thumbs downing u.

read wat he is actually saying a draw as in a tournament draw eg agassi v moya.

    some people

  • lol. How can people interpret what i said as bad!

  • i looooove andre! legend, a real legend.

and that was a beautiful speech. :)

  • Nobody can watch a tennis match for "the other guy". Tennis is a game of two people, one is nothing without the other and it never gives pleasure to watch a one-sided game. The best games are always the most challenging ones. Andre Agassi turned every game he played into a challenge, and made the sport attractive. This is why all those people, no matter who they came to watch, are grateful to him.

  • beautiful speech i love andre..,,,,,

  • stfu

  • what a sad day it was...

  • i found this clip very emotional. andre agassi will be the best FOREVER!!!

  • this is so touching...

And yes,i did cry watching this =)

  • lol i saw u crying behind the scene

  • andre will be always the best!!!!!!!!!!!!
