I only use a few yoyo's off my fishing pier e.g. don't look for 'best spots' I also am lazy with trotline and put it near my house - so I can paddle out e.g. don't put trotline or yoyo's in best place - I'm retired and wait for catfish to find me instead of hunting them
Best places around here are along edge or slightly into the creek channel on both sides of the bridge - but I don't venture that far at night :)
BTW: my favorite fishing is for catfish. I only crappie fish a little in early spring and late fall while I wait on catfish.
The hot spot for crappie around here are under (or near) the bridge. For people without a boat - the hot spots are at the spillway areas (top and banks above gates)
But Gold Creek area for boat fishing is usually very hot / popular. Then the twin bridges (hwy 286) for bank fishing can be crappie hot spots.
Bottom line: From week to week the hot spots change)
i went fishing all around the lake in the dam area and did catch a single fish on 2-22-09 and fished everything what do you use to catch most of them?
I've been catching several dozen crappie a day - fishing from 4PM until 6PM - but most are too small - unless people want to scale and gut them - then fry em i.e. much too small to fillet - still can be fun since ever once in while I get a keeper
