...Are you kidding me? My 2 favorite vocalists of all time were together at the same concert!?!?!?!?!? WHERE WAS I!??!?!? Please Lord, I pray for it to happen again! Only this time I'm up there too ;)

@CodyBradley2ysPro This was in Chicago at the House of Blues on 10/5/2005 and tickets were only $1,000. to get in. Worth every penny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not going to happen again but these videos will last an eternity to show how bad ass of a night this truly was :)
In case anyone wondered why this may be one of the few times Led Zeppelin performed this song live, it involved John Paul Jones and a twelve-string guitar.
Nothing against Eddie Vedder, he's a great singer, but he sounds positively weak compared to Robert Plant. But, then again, Plant is a rock God and Vedder no doubt one of his disciples.

What in the hell?? Why would agreat singer like Plant even want to be associated with a skank amateur wannabe like eddie? Man you are too generous robert. And pealr Jam ain't nothing but a turd compared to Zep either. Lord GTFO with this bullshit..
my life is complete. led zeppelin and pearl jam. most zeppelin covers make me cringe, but god eddie sounds beautiful. and robert you've still got it, my lord.
Amazing! Boy did Robert Plant own that stage ... Ed could have done a bit more:) Two of my favorite voices together though...I went from Zeppelin in middle school to Pearl Jam in high school. I used to say that Pearl Jam brought me to the present tense...and boy did they. 20 Years!!!
Oct 2005 a benefit for Katrina. Tickets were $1,000 each. Everything going to charity. PJ first on bill, tickets wern't selling well at that level...Plant was in Chicago recording a concert for PBS...Plant was added to the concert. Even with that, only about 800 tickets were sold. HOB Chicago was maybe half full..one of the greatest concerts I have ever seen in my life. As good as this sounds, you could not even imagine how great it was live. Anyone who was there will agree with me.
My question is, did the crowd know Plant was going to show up? If I was at that show and Plant came onstage, I'm not sure my mind could have handled it.
Oh Gosh, Eddie Vedder came in and just destroyed that song...IN A BAD WAY.
Can't be beat Plant.

Eddie Vedder has got to jam with some pretty big names over his career...members of the Who, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty.
Plus he apparently, just got married two days ago so congratulations, Eddie.
Omg they ROCKED i'll give credit they did well and it had to be a dream to play with such a ROCK ICON! Kudos to all who made that happen and lucky for the peeps watching!
Awesome, except Robert's voice makes Eddie's sound like crap, lol. This is so cool, almost as cool as Zeppelin doing it. Roberts singing is still killer.
heck Robert even says he never sang this on stage...at the end of the songs ..which really makes this a one time only performance ..thank God some one recorded it for us that could not cough up $ 1000.00 for a ticket.
Led Zeppelin did not play this live...At the Knebworth shows they only played "In the Evening " and "Hot Dog" . For the 1980 Europe shows they added "All my Love" These were the only songs preformed in concert from In Through the Out Door album. Now it was said that they were rehearsing to do Caroulsalambra and Fool in the Rain for the 1980 US tour ..but we all know what happened.... :(
@Grungeman23 yes. There are some bootleg versions of Zeppelin performing it in Germany in 1980 before Bonham died. There pretty spot on too. It's great live.
I have a bootleg from the European tour of 1980 and was thrilled to see that they had played Hot Dog and All My Love, I didn't know about Carouselambra and Fool in the Rain for the US tour. PIty:(
I believe this is the only live performance of Fool in the Rain by Robert Plant? They couldn't play it at concerts because JPJ couldn't play piano and bass at the same time.
Actually, that would not have been a problem. JPJ frequently used bass pedals while he played the keyboards in concert. How do you think they played SIBLY, Thank You, Trampled Underfoot, even Kashmir live?
I think he even used them when he played Mandolin during Going To California and That's The Way at Earl's Court in '75.

i dig pearl jam but ed just made himself look a cunt ,, couldnt hit them high mothers,, shoulda picked an easier number to make himself look good singing twat !!!
if there is any drummer out there today that could nail Bonzo's stuff, it is Matt Cameron. Eddie's voice fits this song surprisingly well! I love his voice, but this isn't a song I would've expected to fit his voice. and Plant... wow. I might have pee'd my pants being on the stage with Plant. Props to the guys for holding that in.
Quit comparing Ed to Plant. They are two of the greatest frontmen ever (period) and Vedder is singing Plants song! Too bad we didn't get to hear Plant try a Vedder song.
I love Pearl Jam, however Led Zeppelin are gods. If i went to that concert and saw Robert Plant I would cry, jack off, faint in that order. Seriously though that would be amazing seeing the best singer ever Roberto Plante. Forever in debt to Led Zeppeln. Robet plant is whats holding up the parade not the others...he is busy playing leap frog with that chick and is scared he couldnt handle a zep tour. Pearl Jam does alright with their stuff but they don't have the Zeppelin grove.
The best fuckin show ever. So bad ass. They played the crowd so well that night, I'll never forget it especially when EV grabbed my flag and put it over the monitor which you can see in all the videos. That was awsome, he talks about it after alive on the cd, classic.
To anyone that is doubting Pearl Jam's drummer, it happens to be none other than Matt Cameron, who was the drummer for Soundgarden as well. So there is no WAY anyone can dispute his drumming prowess. Play any studio or live recording. No one can top Bonham, but he's come as close as anyone.
Obviously it's debatable. I happen to think they are; you are not obligated to think that they are. IN MY OPINION they are. There. Now you can sleep at night.
It is! This song is one of the hardest songs to sing.not black dog or wanton song. On this song you have to keep your voice going over a long period....
arguably matt cameron has been in the two greatest rock bands of the last twenty years, soundgarden and pearl jam...he can play a lot of styles and has solidified pearl jams sound over the last eight years...that being said i think we can all agree that bonham has few peers, maybe neil pert, maybe the guy from the police. jmo
Quit hatin. I believe that they were performing for the crowd, not for you, and the crowd went nuts when Eddie broke in. I think Robert Plant knows what he's doing better than any of us, and Pearl Jam is the only modern band that is anywhere close to Zeppelin, though they will never get credit for it. If you disagree, give me a better band
you can't compare two bands from different eras like that. it's like people trying to compare barry bonds with babe ruth. the original "greatest rock band ever" is led zeppelin, and to most people, always will be. i doubt pearl jam themselves would dispute that. it's not fair to hold any band up to such a standard.
thats true..no band will ever come close to zeppelin..ever..pjs amazing and eddie is great....the fact is jones, bonham, page and plant are each the best musicians ever at what they do and that is why they are gods.
no band comes close to Zeppelin, but Black Crowes did a really good job with Jimmy Page. And while Robert Plant is phenomenal, he is getting old. I think Chris Robinson can hit the notes better than Plant can now.
Plant can't hit the high notes like he used (his voice used to be incredible), but for his age, he is fantastic. I think Eddie has the best voice in the business today, and I'd probably rank him Top 10, maybe Top 5 lead vocalists. Put ting them together was ingenious, thumbs up for whoever thought of that.
are u kidding me? plant can easily hit the notes he use to..he just likes improvising with different pitches...he is and will remain to be the best frontman of all time.
haha well it looks like robert plant enjoys playing with pearl jam, especially since they all recorded a song together for a single. so sucks for you.
i really like pearl jam a lot but i love zeppelin more and a great voice is great voice even after all this years robert plant voice is very good he not might be eddie age but he sings better but this a great video thank you
Pretty good job covering that darn-near impossible drum rhythm!! You can tell that PJ were big Zep fans and showed the greatest musical respect one can: covering your song. I'm glad Plant's still singing here, though. I couldn't imagine this song with any other vocalist.
...Are you kidding me? My 2 favorite vocalists of all time were together at the same concert!?!?!?!?!? WHERE WAS I!??!?!? Please Lord, I pray for it to happen again! Only this time I'm up there too ;)

The drumming is weak. Nothing against Pearl Jam, but they can't hold a candle to the mighty Led Zeppelin and this guy can't hold Bonzo's underwear.
NastyNole1 4 years ago
well, its a cover, so im not really getting the sense that pearl jam is here to improve upon what was already accomplished

arguably matt cameron has been in the two greatest rock bands of the last twenty years, soundgarden and pearl jam...he can play a lot of styles and has solidified pearl jams sound over the last eight years...that being said i think we can all agree that bonham has few peers, maybe neil pert, maybe the guy from the police. jmo

you guys are just jelious of eddie vedders talent, hes got a amazing voice that bands like creed, life house and hinder try to copy.
mikekovac420 4 years ago
Never been performed when Ed wasn't around.

i like this song better when eddie vedder isnt around
shanemeister5000 4 years ago
haha...i agree, although I do not dislike Mr. Vedder in anyway.

I agree, there is no better rock band out there than pearl jam. They are the Led Zeppelin of our era
kwrutherford916 4 years ago 5
"... the led zeppelin of our era."
except they have lasted longer and none of them has died, thank goodness. and thank you, pearl jam!
meddyo 4 years ago 6
Great point! Agree! They're the "Pearl Jam" of our era.....
kwrutherford916 3 years ago
InebriateSoul 4 years ago 3
my opinion. pj will NEVER be close to what Zep was. No hatin' just the facts.
bri824 4 years ago
you can't compare two bands from different eras like that. it's like people trying to compare barry bonds with babe ruth. the original "greatest rock band ever" is led zeppelin, and to most people, always will be. i doubt pearl jam themselves would dispute that. it's not fair to hold any band up to such a standard.

thats true..no band will ever come close to zeppelin..ever..pjs amazing and eddie is great....the fact is jones, bonham, page and plant are each the best musicians ever at what they do and that is why they are gods.

how can i hate if it is my opinion?
bri824 4 years ago
no band comes close to Zeppelin, but Black Crowes did a really good job with Jimmy Page. And while Robert Plant is phenomenal, he is getting old. I think Chris Robinson can hit the notes better than Plant can now.
augie53711 4 years ago
You did a great job. They both sound good. Although I could do without Vedder.
bri824 4 years ago
Plant can't hit the high notes like he used (his voice used to be incredible), but for his age, he is fantastic. I think Eddie has the best voice in the business today, and I'd probably rank him Top 10, maybe Top 5 lead vocalists. Put ting them together was ingenious, thumbs up for whoever thought of that.
kblavie 4 years ago 2
are u kidding me? plant can easily hit the notes he use to..he just likes improvising with different pitches...he is and will remain to be the best frontman of all time.
james3244 4 years ago
god damn im in love. pearl jam and zeppelin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! never will there be a bands like this again.

Pretty good job covering that darn-near impossible drum rhythm!! You can tell that PJ were big Zep fans and showed the greatest musical respect one can: covering your song. I'm glad Plant's still singing here, though. I couldn't imagine this song with any other vocalist.

I've waited 28 years to hear Led Zeppelin/Robert Plant perform this song live. It was worth the wait. Thank You for the post!
