The world of Warhammer 40k is one of utter war. There is Evil and there is only the regular moloralistical people. Simply put, none of the other factions are absolutely good, because they can't afford to be. For example, Humanity can't be merciful or otherwise they will be destroyed. Such is war.

Tau and Imperial Guard are really the good guys of Warhammer 40k.
OK, "good guys" is a bit of a stretch. They're more the only people that get happy endings, and the only people who are ever depicted in a positive light.
The Sisters of Battle are a little too crazy for my liking.
As for the Space Marines... Meh, depends on the chapter. Ultramarines, Space Wolves and Salamanders? Definitely. Dark Angels and Raven Guard? Not so much.
Only the Tau empire was one of the many races that would allow any other race to be in an alliance with them. I would, however, prefer Shas O Kias to be the commander for the Kauvara System instead of Shas O O'Res'Ka. I believe Kias would have been more forgiving to the other clans than any Tau commander would.
After the Dark Crusade Tau ending, I kept waiting for the narrator to explain something bad the Tau would do to Kaurava after they won but nothing very terrible seemed to happen in this ending at all.
The Tau aren't evil, but in the grim darkness of the year 40,000, their innocent and naive nature is a weakness that may not only destroy them, but the rest of the galaxy. The Tau have nothing like the inquisition to prevent the spread of Chaos, and they are too young to understand anything about the Necrons. They lack the will to do what is necessary to fight the Tyranids. If they triumph over the crippled Imperium, it will be the hollowest of victories.
@dark7element They dont believe in Chaos so that problem is solved. The necrons are always fought when encountered and the tyranids are trycky to fight against but its not impossible since the Tau change their weapons and tactics.

@DARVGH1 As I've said on several Tau videos, lacking psychic powers is a double edged sword. Though demons can't possess Tau, without psykers the Tau can't effectively combat demons when they DO emerge from the warp, and unless the Tau plan to exterminate all humans, there will always be periodic demonic incursions. Also, lacking warp travel means their fleet is slower than any other by a factor of five, and the fluff has implied that some worlds can't be reached at all without warp travel.
@dark7element well, the Tau have another alternative to travel in the warp, their alliance with the Nicassar, would be the answer to this, the Nicassar are highly psychic, and provides ships to the Tau fleet, the can travel in the Warp, carrying the Tau armies through the Warp,
screw tau. etherials are just brain washing the other races. they get them all to do their dirty work. tau would be no match against one of abbadons dark crusades, and undermining the imperium would only serve to help chaos. greater good would be giving their tech to the humans, then jumping off something high.

@FalconRS i can see blatant paralells in the tau and the early history of man in 40k. so yus they can get along. there are even frquent talks between the 2 races to avoid needless conflict. look at the tau codex
@LoveNoteProjects i know that ultramarines now are practically allies of tau against necrons and tyranids :) and inquisitors had everytime very flexible morality, especially radicals from Ordo Xenos, so even idea about some unofficial ambassador-inquisitor in their homeworld isnt completely nonsense. After all, Tau are most reasonable and the only one moreless "kind" race in whole galaxy. Not so arrogant like Eldars, not so agressive from very logical strategy.

This ending seems to work out pretty well for everyone in Kauruva. I was expecting the Tau to do something kinda bad to the Imperial Civilians like in Dark Crusade but this time they seemed fine with them.

I wonder what life must be like for the Human-I mean "Gue'La" living in the Tau Empire among all of those Xenos. Talk about culture shock/sitcom fuel.
Whenever I destroy a race's stronghold, the video always shows infantry and tanks pouring in through the front entrance, although I always use the almost cheating tactic of just using 5 barracudas, flying in through the back (or the least defended area), taking out the HQ and leaving. as if anyone else is any different, please... i do admit that my knowledge is quite limited, but from what i understand, the human Imperium is all about slaughtering everything non-human too. the tyranids aren't any better, the orcs are also killing everyone but their own, the chaos too and i think the necrons, eldar and dark eldar were the same.
however, i do have the feeling that the tau and eldar are more likely to spare civillians than the heavy xenophobic human Imperium.

Tau are my favorite. They are by far the most human of all races. The humans themselves have become beings of hatred and blind obedience to the emperor, willing to kill their own for "heresy", and fully committed to destroying anyone nonhuman. Religious fanatics, the lot of them.
The Tau are willing to accept anyone into service of the Greater Good, having Kroot, Vespid, and even human helpers (known as the Guesava).

as if anyone else is any different, please... i do admit that my knowledge is quite limited, but from what i understand, the human Imperium is all about slaughtering everything non-human too. the tyranids aren't any better, the orcs are also killing everyone but their own, the chaos too and i think the necrons, eldar and dark eldar were the same.
however, i do have the feeling that the tau and eldar are more likely to spare civillians than the heavy xenophobic human Imperium.

Tau are my favorite. They are by far the most human of all races. The humans themselves have become beings of hatred and blind obedience to the emperor, willing to kill their own for "heresy", and fully committed to destroying anyone nonhuman. Religious fanatics, the lot of them.
The Tau are willing to accept anyone into service of the Greater Good, having Kroot, Vespid, and even human helpers (known as the Guesava).
Also, battlesuits are EPIC.

@Ryokenai - The Tau may seem nice on the surface, but they are just another kind of evil. The Ethereals control the other castes through pheromones, and anyone absorbed into the Tau empire is either indoctrinated, slowly rendered sterile as a species, or both.
The end goal of the Tau is not the Greater Good - it is to insure the dominance of the Ethereals over the entire galaxy.

He went renegade because he believes in completely defeating enemies that can't be reasoned with, like the Orks, Necrons, and Chaos.
