@jaddison1112 Three months ago, just as many people were killed in an Amtrak crash just east of Reno. Many more have been killed in train crashes around the country, year after year. Yet you ignore those so you can whimper about the FIRST TIME ANY SPECTATOR HAS BEEN INURED OR KILLED at races which have been going on for nearly 50 years. If you can't get perspective and your blood is that weak, please don't breed.
@jaddison1112 The pilots would be flying the planes regardless if you banned the race or not, it is called FREEDOM. Nobody is forced to go watch these races,they go of their own FREE WILL.
@KenyanImport I don't think it's anti-Aviation per se, but just good old fashioned ignorance of the subject and a horribly sensationalist media. A lot of people outside looking in don't realize that Reno fans or even just plain old Airshow fans (not even talking about us pilots yet!) would probably not want their fellow fans to stop going to these events just because they were in an accident. I know if I bit it, I wouldn't want my hangar buds to stop flying just cause of me.
@jaddison1112 It's called freedom, & liberty. People should have a right to risk if they feel like it. Spectators also should have a right to attend these events if they wish. We the people do not need government to babysit us.
@FOscum He was trying to land the airplane after losing the engine (it blew two pistons through the side of the block) And if it were not for the small dirt berm along the edge of the runway it would have been a safe landing
W-O-W !!!!!!!!

@KenyanImport
yep, the planes are operated +maintained in accordance with federal regulations.
the races are carried out iaw the same...
everything is carried out as safe as deemed necessary at the time.
if theres something needs to change, after examining the accident, im sure they will.

@jaddison1112 I agree. But, before that, we should really do something about highways. How many thousands of people die there every year?
Not sense the Aztec gods has there been an entity so blood thirsty as the nation's highways.

You have a better chance of getting in a car wreck driving to and from an air race than being involved in one of these air show accidents.
