Say like you want other drums than the drums that are built in the program. Can you import drums from for example Fruity loops? Or do you have to export the music you made from the guitar port to another program?
@line6movies Will I be able to use this with my line 6 spider II amp? I know it sounds like a dumb question. But i just saw a video where some guy connects all these cables, but i only have a headset output and a guitar input, and an input for my guitarpedals.
@Metaldude1945 Yes. Connect the headphone out of your Spider (this will mute your amp's speaker) to the 1/4" input of the GuitarPort and plug speakers into the GuitarPort.
@HomesJopkins Rifftracker GuitarPort bundles come with a license key for Riffworks Line 6 Edition. The GuitarPort on its own only comes with a demo of Riffworks.
I am not gay but the bearded guy has nice eyes, I can imagine him leaning against lamp posts doing James Dean style poses ( head facing down while eyes are looking up ) then heading indoors and having a team meeting about Line6 vids and why some of them are good ( this one ) and some of them are shit ( that guy recorded with the room mic set about a hundred feet away).
hey again. I just installed gearbox3 on my mac osx but when I plug the guitar port into the usb port the kernal panics and I need to restart my computer. Would anyone know what's wrong?
@edwardtang1977 It could but it may be redundant. What you'd want to do is plug your guitar into the Tonelab and then run the output of the TL into the GuitarPort.
I have a line 6 spider 4. Maybe this has been asked before but i missed it. Can I run a line from the amp into the guitar port to record into riffworks? I noticed theres 2 quarter in jacks (left and right) behind the amp. Would one of those be the one to run into the guitar port?
@toml71 You can do this. Run the Direct/Headphone out of the Spider into the instrument input of the GuitarPort and then configure your GuitarPort as your input device in Riffworks.
ok well i found a potential fix, seems that i did buy a full licenced copy and should have all saving, extracting, drumming features, all i need to is type refresh i a certain area of the line minkey updater thing. i have tried this but it hasnt worked yet
i have a question, this "licensed version" does it allow you to save or extract anything, because after buying the bundle i used it, and loved it, THEN i kept getting request for me to update the version of rifftracker, now it tells me to buy a license key to be able to save. I thought the riff cast thing was the only demo. My question is, is this the case, i have to pay a hundred and something for a licensee key to save my work/ if so what did i actually buy in this bundle?
guys is this guitar port or guitar port riff tracker is different??...n 2ndly from where can i get this or can i even download this?? if yes, then send me the link..n how to use guitar port riff tracker??..thank u.
The GuitarPort Rifftracker device is simply a GuitarPort device that includes a license bundled version of Riffworks. You can purchase a regular GuitarPort device and purchase Riffworks separately on the Line6 site, just click on "Store"
Do you plug you guitar into anamp then amp to the port? if this is the case could you plug a mic to your and and record vocals, i realise the sound might not be ideal but could it be done. also can you inport audio, for example i have some mp3 backing tracks.
No. You plug your guitar directly into the GuitarPort and then use the software to get your processed sounds. You can play MP3 files with the Gearbox player.
Hi I'm pretty new to all of this but i was wondering if I can plug the guitar port into my computer and have sound come back through my amp coz I heard somewhere that u need to have the red and white ports on your amp but I haven't got these on my Marshall amp! Plz help if know if I can plug it into another port. Thanx
How and can you play through your computer speakers?
Because I just bought the Line 6 Toneport KB37 model and waiting for it.
I currently have Guitar Rig 3 Kontrol edition and want to pair it with the Line 6 Pod Farm KB37. But I can not get that really super clean crisp tone. I have the outputs going to my amps and out through my cabinets. I think thats why.Thanks.
You can use EZ Drummer with the Standard Version of Riffworks which can be purchased from Sonoma Wireworks. The Line 6 version of Riffworks does not support plug ins.
hi i have 3 questions cos i dont have any experience with this sort of thing: can you (simply) set a chord progression digitally, ie not play it but set it up with the keyboard feature (program g d a for example), can you use standard pc speakers. and assumingly you can use it just as an amp to mess around with not necessarily to record on (theory being you can have very good tone at mega low volume unlike an amp) all help appreciated
hey, I'm only 10 I know, but I've written 3 songs that even include singing n guitar playing. But do you need a recording system to reord music with rifftracker?
Bearing in mind i will be using this with my band and for school GCSE Music i want something ideally to do guitar bass and vocals + drums. I'm not sure which is a) easier to work with or/and b) Which gives more effects / better sounding quality
Go with the TonePort. It has XLR mic inputs and offers phantom power so you can use it with condenser mics. It also comes with light version of Ableton Live which has a slew of effects and Drum sounds in it.
hey i've got a question, have you tried the guitar port with guitar rig 3, amplitube 2 or peavey revalver? does it work without any latency problems with the guitar port?
On the Installation CD it says "Install this BEFORE you plug in all cables." I'm just curious, does it make much difference installing the program before or after we plug all the cables in (even though the instruction tells us to install the program first)?
Personally I never tried guitar port but unattaching the device before installing the drivers sometime saves you time deleting those Microsoft approved drivers. If Line 6 drivers exist from Microsoft update database it will try to install those first. Since USB is PnP your computer will automatically try to find suitable driver for this new device.
Yes - you can use Rifftracker with TonePort GX. In addition, visit and signup for Line 6 All Access at line6 site for free software, loops, lessons and backing tracks.
You can also tweak your sound an overdub the regular guitar to get the bass guitar. Or simply put the tone know to minimum and start from there. If you don't like it, clone it and tweak it with EQ so you get a nice bassy overdub you like.
I use Floor pod live and riffworks and it is way cool when you learn how to use it right.Great stuff..I posted a video response here with the song I recorded on riffworks as the soundtrack.....
I only have a trial version and cant save my songs, but RiffWorks is really good software. I use my guitarport software daily, and I think it is perfect for my eevery need, whether is be light rock or heavy metal. Works great with a mic, too!
I've been playing for a few years strumming along to my favorites with tabs online to figure them out. New software and reading music is hard for me so I recorded random notes over a drum beat. Then by trial and error came up with a nice rythym part to go with it. Riffworks layered the part right where I wanted it. In an hour I had a song to sing over. Everyone was surprised because they never heard the things I'd play all gelled together. If you're like me get Riffworks without delay.
Hi ,i use Mixcraft5 and was wondering if the Guitarport XT is compatible with this software? thanks
johnnyweep59 1 year ago
@johnnyweep59 If Mixcraft works with ASIO drivers then the GuitarPort will work fine with it as an audio interface.

@Metaldude1945 You can’t import other drums from different software into Riffworks although other recording applications do allow you to do that.

AsILayPlaying319 1 year ago
@AsILayPlaying319 Yes, but you would need to get an XLR to 1/4" adapter so you could physically connect the Mic to the 1/4" inputs of the GuitarPort.
