boy these comments make Americans look stupid. Look India borders China. The closer you get to China the more Indians start to look Chinese, but that doesn't make them Chinese. The people from the story are obviously Indian, not only is the city named, but the girl with the MBA says that his parents wouldn't let him marry her because of her class. @cutebutt29 you have it wrong. Dowry was made in ancient times as a gift from the girls parent to the girl. The girl brings things with her, to her new home for comfortable life. Over the time, it has changed a lot, but saying that Indian or any culture woman get out to marry other culture men, just to avoid dowry is very wrong. It also shows how narrow minded you are. Mixed race marriages are mostly out of love not to run from own culture.

@LunarRoso Don't explain to me about dowry coz I'm Asian too and ancient time in my country giving dowry was been practiced and the groom gave property or valuable things if not he must served to the dwelling place of his bride to be for a couple of months before they got married and that's show a real man.Nowadays,it change but still the groom spend 90% of the expenditure for wedding.Don't say mixed race marraige is out of love.I live and work in different countries and met mixed couple.

@Kevinem123 you have probably seen indians that are darker then others, right? the darker ones are south indian and the lighter ones north,its the same with indians that look asian so its just a matter of where they come from as they are all different :). also class and tradition are big in some parts of india such as chandigrah and pathankot so that girl claiming to be pregnant will probably be dis-owned and not married...

@cutebutt29 Most people don't talk about this but there are even conservative forms of "arranged marriages" in Western society. Matchmaking is HUGE in Southern US.There is huge difference between contemporary arranged marriages and modern arranged marriages.There are tons of women including American women who marry out of convenience and not for love. Also, I know of a Nigerian man whose family found him a wife that he never meet..it was just as an arranged marriage for him as it was for her.
