  • Grumiaux is playing this very good ,good intonation but he is missing the basic thing in bach.we never cut the notes and double stops .they are effin one..it should sound like its flowing water straght from a spring. But that is my opinion.

P.S. Grumiaux does this in all his Bach performances.

  • Bach is never tedious, just amazing as is this recording. Thanks for posting. Perfect for a Sunday morning. Aaaahhh...

  • @NaoEW : And miss out on meeting Bach ?

  • there is no one plays the violin like Arthur Grumiaux.

  • like it very much

  • This is so gorgeous...the depth of feeling defies mere words. Thanks.

  • @dellumn One great thing I find about his music is that it is hard to destroy. It makes you feel good to play it and listen to it, even if it's just a couple of notes played by a a beginner.

  • @dellumn : A very healthy sentiment. Thus spend 12 months ´investigating´ the piece such as this before performing it as a whole.

  • Bach's partitas are works of difficult interpretation, here Grumiaux did an all too good performance

  • @beethomozart : particularly when you cannot decide between the playboi and the deafman ... .

  • Grumiaux´s is one of the very few recordings of these sonatas that makes you completely and happily forget about tedious violins and tiresome ego´s and exasperating squabble about fingering and bowing techniques. Just this wonderful music. Great quality, btw. Thanks.

  • @DoctorCripple : Jawohl

  • @DoctorCripple : Yea ! Kick my crutch away anytime DoctorCripple!

  • grande Artur!!!!!!!!

  • @DoctorCripple I disagree with you. One of the "very few" of these Bach Solo Sonata's. Every single recording is a triumph of human emotion and a gift to humanity. For these people to devote their entire lives to produce a Bach recording and to have it called "tedious" and such is not cool. Name some of the recordings which are "tedious and tiresome." Hahn? Milstein? Just curious...

  • No need to get worked up @payasarraf: all I said was that Grumiaux was one of those truly great artists that can make one forget that one is listening to a mere mortal, sweating over a contraption of wood and horsehair. I never called any other recording tedious or tiresome and I heartily agree that every single one of them should be hailed as "a gift to humanity". Which reminds me of the cardy my aunty once knitted for me. I really did appreciate the effort, but I wouldn't be seen dead in it.

  • @DoctorCripple Alright; I 'm glad to see that you have a multifaceted perspective. And I agree with you; Grumiaux is fantastic!

  • @payasarraf you mentioned Milstein? Heard his recording of 3rd Brahms with Horowitz at the piano? Some good genie posted it here somewhere. Pure magic.

  • @DoctorCripple ...thank you for elevating the level of discourse...by putting detractors in their place...and properly articulating the way to enjoy these gifts...

  • woooow.... my everlasting favourite of all classicals... the whole piece. thanks for the vid, it's better version than the other one been here on youtube:)

  • the high mystery of the Allemande

  • @3NUNS : Das Musick ist sehr Lutheranische.
