  • That, is amazing.

  • thank you Howard....not much of a Paul's solo stuff fan...but the bluesy vibe and cool groove is awsome!...

  • "More guitar"...love that line, cracks me up every time

  • Hmm ... I'm not to sure about this number. The lyrics aren't Paul's best 'Eat like a hunger' (wtf) 'cook like a lady' (sexist!) but I still think it's decent. The chorus is one of the best on the album as a whole, TBH.

  • @ForeverTreesGreen ok, so it's official...you haven't gotten laid???

  • lol poppy cock

  • Poppycock.

  • amazing, love this song!!!

  • Thank You Howard for introducing this to me on the show Tuesday!!!!

  • @flake21 Been trying to find this song1 never heard him say the title. been looking through all kinds of his lyrics!

  • @flake21 I always skipped over this one for some reason, but Howard reminded me how bad ass it is. One of Paul's best vocals. And he was doing the "OW!" way before Michael Jackson.

  • Paul McCartney has to be the most successfully versatile musician that has ever existed.

  • best track on the mccartney album, awesome rift !!!

  • @MuccaMuccaMadBoy and at 0:38 orgasmic solo!!! I love it!

  • McCartney is/was one of the best guitarists rock has ever heard. Listen to the blistering guitar solo on Sgt. Pepper's 'Good Morning'. That is a Paul solo, not Harrison, and at the time nothing like it had ever been recorded, and that would include Jimi Hendrix.

People don't realize what a total muscial genius is, both from a technical and song writing standpoint.

  • @roxman78 Millions of people around the world do realize what a total musical genius Paul is, and every day more and more. Just think of the many way's he has gotten aknowledged for his many and diverse skills last year! But I guess there's no way any of us can think of to see the whole of this genius' creativity. I'm so glad he's still performing, touring, writing songs and ballets and doing all the things he does, baby I'm amazed!

  • @ingridmjn2812

Right on BRO He is the best

  • GRANDIOSA ZAPADA DE PAUL!!!!MAESTROOOOOOOO!!!!

  • Fav tune of mine

I remember grabbing this record as soon as it hit sam goody and racing home

after being confused about a badfinger single that i thought was Paul LOL

i was so freaking excited to hear what paul was doing after Abby Road... my God this tune rocks my inner soul and makes me young again every time I listen

    more guitar more guitar

i love pauls drums on this record

    enough Timmy

    back to listening

    PEACE

  • Ooo you! <3 Paul love you!!

  • Look.. you can talk about Paul's bass playing all you want but I think what sets him apart musically from the other Beatles and rock peers plain and simple was his voice. Only Plant, Ozzy, Steven Tyler, and a handful of others could match his coloratura on this

  • @RJLKMRD Had to look up coloratura to know what you were talking about. You're right, he had more ability with his voice than the other Beatles and his other rock peers. Could go places most other people couldn't. But over time I've changed my opinion and become convinced Lennon has the best voice I've ever heard (i.e. the coolest fucking voice ever). It's more soul-piercing than Paul's, or anyone else's, at least to my soul.

  • @superman11978 I know what you mean.. it's really relative to what one loves in a voice. I love Lennon's too.. it has grown over time for me.. thanks for the reply

  • gatopfuelsaver

  • soo... good...

  • Ugh, he's sooo attractive

  • drums rock this song and the guitar adds to the greatness of this song

  • @gandil408

Bravo! Anyone who doesn't see the hand of god in the Bealtes is BLIND.

  • There's an instrumental of this on the new reissue of McCartney coming out soon. I hope it's an alternate track and not just the vocals removed.

  • More cowbell.

  • Wow, I'm no McCartney fan, but to say plays with very little skill....Gong

  • GREAT lick.

  • @gandil408: Give me a break. Ever listen to Zeppelin, Joplin's Cosmic band, Cream, Band of Gypsy, Paul Gilbert (scarified), Doobie Brothers, Primus, Any Motown record. You must not be a very good musician if you think Paul's archaic playing is a top 5. He would be lucky to be number 100 when looked at objectively.

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa Paul is talented, he is gifted with melodies he could find very interesting lines in bass, that many cant even if they can play more complex,So paul cause of his talent in making melodies deserves to be in the top 5.In the end it doesnt matter how complex and fast you are but how nice bass lines you've written, music is not about who has the best technic but who sounds better, also he is one of the first influental bass players in rock music

  • @MyDreamside I like what you said, in my opinion hes bass playing is like his singing, he plays by feel and doesnt play like he is in a race to be the fastest, simply it is just tasty!

  • A one-man band of genius.

  • When McCartney plays bass,it's like he's playing lead guitar !

  • @wheatbull Here he is playing bass, lead guitar. Actually he is playing every instrument in this song. His first album, which this is from, every instrument is played by him with backing vocals occasionally by his wife.

  • @tjsmith51: Yeah, every instrument is played with very little skill

  • love

  • At the beginning..when he says whatever he says in a low voice kinda thing.......TURN ON :L god I love Paul xD

  • @beatle4life64 - He says "More guitar".

  • Ram and McCartney, the best albums known to man.

  • Yeah, the words to this aren't great. Kind of reminds me of one of John's best songs. "I want you, I want you so bad, it's drivin' me mad, it's drivin' mad". And "She's so Heavy.....".

  • @debjorgo

Are you crazy? The lyrics spill raw emotion! Love this man to pieces!

  • @AyashaYumi - "Walk Like A Woman, Sing Like A Blackbird, Eat Like A Hunger, Cook Like A Woman, Ooh You". Yeah, right up there with "The movement you need is on your shoulder" and "Wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door". The raw emotion you're hearing is coming from the vocals.

Don't get me wrong. This is definately one of my favorites from Paul, solo or Beatles. And Paul is my all-time favorite performer, so that's saying something.

  • @debjorgo

LOL. Point taken, luv, but this reminds me a little like the critics on Lennon's "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," you know. It's simplistic, that, but it's straight to the point. He love's his woman, praises the ground she walks on! Mighty sexy, but you're alright. Lyrically, not a strong point, but I don't think I'd appreciated any other way. ;D

  • @AyashaYumi - Shoot Sugar, that's what I was trying to say in my first comment. It doesn't look that great on paper but Paul really rocks it. This and some of the songs on Let it Be, which came out at the same time, is Paul inventing grunge. Believe me, Mama.

Another of John's songs that kind of fit into this category is Don't Let Me Down. Pure emotion!

  • @debjorgo

God I flippin' melt every time I hear that song. I just love the versatility of the Beatles, and Paul especially. I'd have to say though, Macca's Hey Jude, or Lennon's Across The Universe (both lyrically strong) can never quite grip me like Oo You, Why Don't We Do It In The Road (LOL), and Don't Let Me Down.

  • great bass Paul McCartney

  • @elmo6410 Paul doesn't only play bass on this song but ALL instruments.

  • @yesiamize it is but as I play bass, I love the bass part

  • @elmo6410 OK I love the bass too :-)

  • very sexy song. goosebumps

  • This is Paul's art plain and simple.

  • @gandil408 No, he's the best....

  • I heard this on the radio today, had no idea whose voice it was. Totally mesmerized! I should start looking into Sir McCartney's old records. The voice is of gold!!!!! what a-rockin'!

  • @RocketZZZ yes you should

  • A fun straight forward blues-rocker. Nothing wrong with a raw, chilling track.

  • This could have been a Beatles song. He should have added a keyboard track.

  • great song from a great album

  • I think a few thousand of these views are me...

  • Another fav of mine from Paul.

  • more COW BELL

  • Love this tune.Got album as a present and played it constantly.Nice to hear it after a long time, sort of like running into an old friend. Thanks for the upload!

  • @gandil408 anyone that thinks Paul is not a good bass player can't possibly play an instrument....let alone bass. Being able to play 20 notes a second does not make you a good muscian.....being able to play the right notes, at the right time, never under playing or over playing and playing with style is what counts.....and Paul fits the bill on all these counts

  • Listen to Abbey Road. He gives a seminar on bass playing.

  • @61Turboman how to you mean?

  • how do you play this?

  • @timjob2014 try with a guitar :P nah, it's not difficult, i was figuring out yesterday, subscribe to me and i'll try to make a how to play video. though i'm not good, i must warn you :P

  • @matiascba87 k i will lol

  • More Guitar!

  • @gandil408 1965! Drive My Car, You won't see me,The Word, Think for Yourself...all pretty amazing stuff.

  • I believe Phil Lesh is one of the top bassists.

  • @gandil408 sorry, I guess I must be biased...he is the TOP bassist

  • Paul is one notable musician and music writer.

  • Merci Pietro ......

  • Another great story about Paul is he always insisted that they keep one track just for bass so he could go in later and play along to the songs with all the parts in them, to better fit the bass in. When you think about Sgt. Pepper being recorded on two 4 track machines you can begin to appreciate the gravity of saying "I want one track just for me!" Tracks then and before that were very scarce, not like 96 tracks we have today.

  • I have this song in a beatles complete song cataloge from 1977,

the song c1970. written while Paul was still in the Fab 4.

  • @darxsxi9 Of course it was, all of the songs on the McCartney album were written while he was still in the Beatles. In fact that was part of what caused the controversey surrounding the release. It was the release of the interview with this album that "broke up" the Beatles(though if you read the text of the actual interview Paul never says anything about leaving the band, it's just one of the newspapers got it in it's head the use the headline that Paul left the Beatles and it snowballed)

  • I used to fucking HATE this album. Somehow I love it now. It didn't change, I did. WTH?

  • Were you used to heavy metal?

  • OOOOoooo Paul !!!!!!

  • Can you imagine if The Beatles had never broken up? Just by listening to this jam, you have to imagine what other great songs awaited.

  • possibly the best `solo` album he,s ever done... GENIUS

  • @sofalugger LOVE THIS ONE AND RAM ,WINGS WILD LIFE IS GREAT TOO, FLAMING PIE !!!! he is just genius !!

  • With better lyrics and a bit of improvement on the instrumentals, this song could be a smash classic hit...

  • needed this

    thanks

  • For you people in the "who's the best bass player" debate, Paul wrote the book, everyone else is just following along. His bass lines are the best in the business, the most melodic & surprising. As a bass player I found Paul to be the most "implied" bass player. By that I mean if you hear his songs you might have an idea of what his bass parts are. When you figure them out they are not what you thought they were. I played bass in a YES cover band, and IMHO, Paul deserves to be number one.

  • @4001XBASS Paul is a great Bassist and an even better songwriter, but he isn't the best bassist in the world. The best bass PLAYER would be more likely John Entwhistle or someone of the sort.

  • Sharkey respectfully, there is only a favorite, not a best one over another. If you choose pure technicality, you've got Victor Wooten, thousands of upright bass players, all who could technically equal or surpass others. John Entwhistle is loved for his creating a bass sound, his own style, and helping a bass movement away from traditional holding down the bottom which gave birth to people like Chris Squire. Check "The Fish" on Yessongs & get back 2 me But Paul wrote the book before all of 'em.

  • by the way, he's annotated on the record guinness book as the most honoured man in music =)

  • @MyFairyKingRMT

And very well deserved I'm sure! Thanks, I did not know that!

  • @lakefloor There were plenty of bassists in jazz starting in 1939 with Jimmy Blanton who played melodic lines. Blanton even soloed with a bow. Later ones of note were Slam Stewart, Charles Mingus, Paul Chambers and Scott LaFaro.

  • @4001XBASS Amen, after 35 plus years of listening I still hear new stuff.

  • The lyrics aren't the greatest but I like the music.

  • What Kind of guitar he's playing here... .what effects. .MIne doesn't sound like that at all I have a pedal with a bunch of effects but none of them have that crude unique sound. I have a Gibson Professional 1981 guitar and some few small amps

  • @dragoneti67 It's a Telecaster and a Twin Reverb amp.

  • i love hows pauls music was so loose at one time, like there was an era where you can tell they were just jaming and having a great time, and not taking it THAT seriously, i think alot of groovy tunes came from that era, like the this one..

  • @airnsmke Actually Paul played every instrument on this(his first) solo album including percussion

  • yea im aware that on the self titled album he plays all the instruments,i own the original vinyl and thats really what got me into the mccartney post beatle stuff. but i wasn't talking about that album alone.... and how do you know by they i didnt mean him and his wife?

  • MORE GUITAR!

  • Ah, I was just going to say that! LOL.

  • @rebelkind lol i always thought he sung Walk it tough

  • Comment removed

  • He's Paul McCartney!!! He's one of the best song writers/musicians in history!! Is it any wonder all The Beatles have the MBO??

  • @jtoshawa erm... I think thats OBE

  • Pardon, what is the MBO?

  • God, his voice is AMAZING.....!

  • Notice how i said technically. I'm not talking about overall i'm saying technique. He's obviously not so I dont know why you are even bothering to dispute it. Go and watch someone like les claypool play bass and come back and tell me you think mccartney could play that stuff.

  • Technically he's no where near the top. You have obviously never heard much bass. But in terms of creativity in bass lines hes one of the best ever. Thats what I think anyway.

  • is his son a model????

  • Does anyone else think he kinda sounds like the guy from Robin Trower, in this song?

  • James Dewar...?

  • i like this. a lot. kinda cute and funky yknow?

  • to gandil408:.....only speaking "technically"....there are plenty of better bass players than paul.....BUT....I just don't like the style in which they play. Paul has the most interesting bass guitar style I have ever heard ( along with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys). I could (and have) listened to paul bass lines for hours. I never get tired of his bass playing

  • i can't find this song anywhere. not even limewire.

  • than gandil408 you never heard "taxman"....that's Paul playing the lead solo, not george....even george verified that before he died.

  • Yes he did. With a 1962 Epiphone

Casino with Bigsby (which is used greatly on most of McCartney's works) into a Vox AC30 Amplifer. An amazing combonation!

  • id catch it.. i love this

  • One of the throwaway songs on this album. But it's still kinda cute 'n funky.

  • This is one of those Macca songs that could have been much better with a little help from his old friend John. The opening and the verse is good, but the middle part is shit. Maybe John would have had a great middle for Paul!

  • I agree it is good as it is,but has potential to be much better with input and collaboration..and a little more time in the oven

  • I think this song is great..

  • muy buen tema !! , me encantan los arreglos de guitarra , la voz de paul es grandiosa, el tempo bien sensual, en fin, otra genialidad de MC CARTNEY , PAUL FOREVER !!

  • McCartney is great and fast guitarist. I always knew that he was original rhythm guitarist for The Beatles, but then he had to change into bassist when Stu died. if Paul was never a bassist, he would be one of the greatest rhythm guitarists on earth probably. cool song and especially the riff of it is amazing, truly Hendrix' influence on it.

  • His best album ever. He was still a Beatle. That's why.

  • Lol yes but even here its obvious that John and the Georges are needed

  • @brainslow If you think that then you don't "get" the song. No one else was needed, it wasn't the point of the song to be anything other than what it is. It wasn't written to be anything other than what it is. I quite like what it is. This and Momma Miss America are two of my favorites on this album(along with the "real studio" produced Maybe I'm Amazed and Every Night and I happen to like Junk quite a bit, I love the idea of metaphor)

  • Oh please.....

  • This is like The Black Keys...actually The Black Keys are very much like this! Who would have thought this is the same guy who sang "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" just a few years before hand and "Coming Up" later on...LOL! No words can describe how much I love The Beatles and their solo careers!

  • I can hear a lot of ''Smoke Stack Lightning'' in this song, which is no bad thing.

  • Exactly, man! ^^

  • This song is Paul at his best with voice and guitar so Hendrix Foxy Lady hot! It is no wonder this album went to number one! Superb!

  • Cool Macca song from the 1st McCartney album. He upset the Beatles by releasing his solo album 1 month before 'Let It Be' was released. Great post!

  • Awesome. I really need to the McCartney album.

  • actually, you make a point. he brought clapton in to ease the white album recording sessions and billy preston for let it be.

  • he recorded this whilst still in the beatles, some say it was partly the cause of the split - he wanted it releasing around the time of "get back" anyway he's supposed to have played every instrument, and produced it himself.

  • McCartney did play every instrument on a Four Track recorder using a "ping-pong" over dubing technic to achieve more tracks available in the finished product.

  • look like a woman ...

    great song !!!

  • that's one white boy that can jam.

  • paul mccartney - the heart and soul of the beatles.

  • why do people say things like this, the beatles as a group were far superior to their individual parts.

  • COOL!

  • Thanks so much for posting the McCartney album...I wasn't aware I knew it until I listened to every song you posted...I love the simplicity and homemade feel it has...Wish Paul would do more stuff like this.

  • I just found this song -- was looking for it. Video is nothing, but song is great to dance to. kc440
