@acfjames put simply, a high torque motor will be able to push a heavier spring, if you go above an M130, you'll probably need a high torque motor. high torque motors also improve trigger response by speeding up the gearbox faster. a high speed motor will increase the rate of fire on your gun, but has lower torque so it wont handle a heavy spring as well.
@acfjames If you mean the G&P M160, yes that should do the job very well. I use a King Arms Infinite Torque Up motor myself, there are motors out there with higher torque, but it's very fast for a high torque motor.
I want a lower fps do I only have to change the spring? Because that's what it seems. I have a 6.03mm but I here it increases FPS by gun in just below the limit fps and I'm afriad I'll be going over the limit in which I can't use it within 15ft. or use full-auto in 30ft. which is freaking retarded.
just got my gun in its a g&g r16 combat ready machine want to upgrade it but being new to the sport i have questions first are the srings stamped with #120 #130 ect. how do you know what you got. other is i want to shot heavy bbs 0.30+ other than lower fps does it hurt the inside parts of the gun. thank you if you have a respones liked your video
@TheJoeblow69er Heavier bb's will not affect your internals in any way. Heavier bb's will fly slower, but they will also fly straighter. The springrating is on the package for the spring.
@marr146 That is wrong, the airsoft association require 0-300 fps for indoor CQB(SIBO). And the safety distance for 350-450 fps is 20 meter (used to be 10m, but when a lot of people failed to keep it, they pushed it to 20m so that there is a larger margin for error). The safety distance for bolt action snipers I can't remember, but I believe it is 30 meters. These are the up to date FPS rules. And yes, of course I'm from Norway.
You guys should come to the Philippines if you want to upgrade your gun like that. There are open fps sites which means you can go crazy and they wont care. Usually the lowest fps in one of those games are 550 fps AEG's. Snipers go up to 800 fps.
@nick230016 Ok, I just sent my gun in for repairs. It costs 45 dollars for labor, you have to pay for the parts and the shipping. But, if you're good with guns, you could try and do it yourself, but I recommend you send it to these guys.
@mikemetsfan97 I'm a newer player that I'm working to go 500 and its ics so saying that it's noob is bad considering some fields max fps is higher then others
@StarRider253 ill do so i got this bout down but i search evike more so its going to be there but if u can find these parts on gi go at it im starting pm in 5 mins
@EpicWinner106 Because gears differ from company to company and depending on what type of gears they are (high speed, torque up etc.) they don't fit in the gearbox shell all that snug, meaning there can be play when you move it side to side along the axle of the gears. So you use shims, which are basically mini washers (they range from 0.1mm to 0.5mm etc) and you add or remove shims to reduce the play on the gears and ensure the gear teeth have proper contact for optimal performance.
@EpicWinner106 Don't feel pressured when I say this, but it really isn't THAT hard to do work on your own gun. Research is the key. Search videos on how to take down your gun, what individual gearbox parts are, how to properly shim your gearbox etc. Once you start working on your gun more often, the more comfortable and knowledgeable you will be about all these parts.
Of course, if you STILL feel like you shouldn't do it yourself, then have Airsoft GI or a local Airsoft store take care of it.
Ok, I am looking at getting a 220 fps guns and upgrading it to at least 290-300 fps. Would this be simple and cheap enough or would I just be better off buying a better gun. I don't have a lot of money so that is why I am trying to find the best and cheapest ways of doing it. Thx.
@XxzLiLxXxDeViLzxX i mean the gearbox itself, do you need to change it ? some videos i've seen they change the gear box.

@nohaa114 I wouldnt support that, most people like different things. No offence to Tim, they want to sell things, but except for the prometheus gears, no real professional upgrader would use the parts shown.
@nohaa114 No they shouldn't, because then a bunch of 12 year olds with 500 FPS guns are going to be running around shooting at people from 5 feet away, and then they're going to mysteriously turn up "missing" when they shoot me with it.
@jackdaripper369 I wasn't trolling dude, i was letting you know incase you were some kid that actually thought that. didn't mean to come off as a douche. you were kinda rude, i was just trying to be nice.

@IBleedBlue2211 that depends on wich brand it is. There are some guns that are very good stock like KWA and VFC while others might need some tuning before showing their true potential (most chinese clones). I'd say reshiming, correcting the AoE adding a new Bucking and regreasing are some of the most basic stuff you can do to your gun, later on you might wanna get a Tight Bore Barrel and then upgrade the piston/cylinder and heads after they break, Good Luck with your gun.
i dont know why would anybody would want anything above 450.. it doesnt mean that the range is gonna go through the roof and the highest fps allowed at parks i know of is 400
Will high tourque gears take less load off of my motor and battery? Im running an m130 with high tourque motor and 5000mah 9.6 but the battery doesn't last as long as i though it would.
@byteme13456874 it depends on ur motor and ur shims, and spring. there are motors that arent as energy efficient. a good shimjob will let the gears spin with more ease so the motor doesnt have to use as much strength to turn them. and the stronger the spring is, the more the motor has to work because the motor turns the gears and the gears pull the spring. hope this helped ;)
@LiteScar thank u very much this cleared up a few things. The only other thing that i would like to know is that i don't kno the difference between m130 springs. Do they have different lenghts? Are they made of something different? Do they have irregular coils (mine has this). I have a modify sp130 spring if this helps. Also if my srping is no good should i get a different spring to help out with my motor and battery
@byteme13456874 difference between springs is that different springs are more layered and others are thicker so the metal is stronger and stays in the same position stronger. so there is more resistance and thus the spring is much harder and stronger. irregular coils?
i think ur thinking about irregular pitch springs. its a unique design that supposedly gives the spring a longer life span so it doesnt break in as fast. and it maintains the fps strength for a longer time. normally, over time
@LiteScar Ya i was meaning irregular pitch. sorry bout that. So im guess through all this that if i were to say buy an m120, my motor wouldn't have to work as hard to pull the spring back and my battery would last longer, and i would be able to play with my gun at most fields for outdoor play? Is this right?
@byteme13456874 no need for apologies, theres always some term or word that every airsofter wont know right away. yes, the weaker the spring, the less the motor has to work and it uses less power to turn a weaker spring. at m120, ur gun can still handle long range. u arent going to gain much range between spring strengths after m100's. downgrading from a m130 to a m120 will probably only take 10 feet away. and m120s can hit 400fps, so u should be fine ;)
@byteme13456874 over time, a spring will wear down and the fps will drop a litle. but iregular or regular pitch wont matter much because a normal spring wont lose a whole lot of fps even after years. i say u downgrade the spring to a m120 because that alone will greatly lower the stress on the motor as well as the gearbox. otherwise, u can always keep a spare battery in case ur current one runs out of juice
if u ever have more questions, dont hesitate to ask. im always happy to help ;)
@byteme13456874 well its because High Torque motors suck more power for their large magnets trying to pull back your spring. How is your 5000mah not lasting long? Are you hold the trigger down the entire time.
@ThatNoobSomber Its lasting fine now. No im not trigger happy but i had a bad solder on my mostfet at i simply resoldered it and we are good now. Im also looking into deans connectors to up performance a little. I also did get helical gears and noticed that my motor runs longer without heating up
Whats the point of 500FPS most places wont let you use that and most sane people wont let you shoot it at them. I understand if its a support weapon or a DMR/sniper but really 400+ is fine. IMO.
If I upgrade my motor, gears, bushings, shims and cylinder. Will I have to upgrade the spring? (e.g will it break the standard spring) because I dont want an over powerful weapon
keep in mind that if you have a 500 FPS spring and you combine it with all the nice air seal parts along with a TBB and good hop up you'll be pushing well over 500 FPS
Oh good lord, a aluminum pistol head on a high-fps dmr..... That is definitely going to crack your gearbox after a while..... Stick to polymer's for this
@LiteScar They help the bushings spin, which reduces friction between the gears and the gearbox shell. It increases rate of fire and increases the lifespan of the gun overall
i got my gr 16 to shoot 450 fps, i could have done 500 but why? thats not that cool, my sniper is barley aloud on the field i play because it shoots 550fps, so why would i want that on my aeg!?
@TheJonesdrew they actually do have that option on the website. Depending on how heavily you want them to upgrade it will cost you anywhere from 20 bucks to 80. The upgrade deals come in packages, and I think they have to be purchased WITH the gun, not after.
@TheJonesdrew If you send it to me (i live in Germany though...), i will charge you the price of the upgrade parts, plus a few dollars for instlaling and modding them so that they last.
@Guitar4God1 To see how far you can push your guns performance. Because it takes skill to build a gun at that power level and still have it work for more than 1000 rounds.
@Guitar4God1 you cant use it INDOORS*. with little kids and regulated airsoft. out in the woods , id take an 800 fps gun any day, us men can handle it
@g3tr00t3d why did you make a DMR out of a p90 which is a small cqb length gun? That just seems like a waste of money and time. Why not take a longer gun like an m4/m16/sig550/etc and use that as the base for a dmr? You would already have a stable platform that you can throw a lot of different upgrades in, mainly you would already have a long inner barrel instead of the p90's itty bitty barrel. No disrespect of anything I just fail to see the reasoning...
@MrSleepyPuppy it is a bullpup design. therefore, a longer barrel fits fine. i put my tavor's 509mm inner barrel with a suppressor to hide it. it is very light and quiet. easy to use one handed. this project only cost me $200 including the cost of the p90. the p90 is the easiest platform to work on. i have several m4's but the cost to convert them to DMR is much more. my tavor has a TBB and shoots fine with an m150 main spring, but it's not as light or mobile as the p90.
so. noob to airsoft hopin to get some help from you experts. do you need to upgrade the gears if you want to upgrade the spring. if you have an aeg sniper can you manually cock the spring back to fire.
@YZ125ups That depends on the Weapon. But you will probably break the Piston, The Gearboxshell, the Gears, the Bushings, the Spring Guide, the Hop Up, the Piston Head and everything else in the GUn. The Spring is that hard, the stock parts cant withstand it. but you will also not get thatmucvh FPS, because Stock Airseal Parts are not the best.
@LyPatrick i upgraded my Tavor with a Matrix Magnum motor, full metal teeth poly piston, aluminum piston head with ball bearings, spring guide with ball bearings, rewired with AB mosfet, replaced faulty trigger microswitch, 6.03 TB, madbull blue bucking and nub, sorbo padding and AOE on piston, 9.6v 1600mAH.
main spring is m120 @ 460 fps or m150 @ 520 fps. it pulls the m150 easy so it should handle an m170.
Why would you even want over 500 FPS unless you're using a DMR or something similar? Not to mention most fields wouldn't even let you in if your gun was 500 FPS...
@RenegadeSANTA If you have full auto permanentyl dissabled and your the distance away that they would say for a sniper rifle most fields will.I know its that way in Ohio.
@RenegadeSANTA it's the Clarkson-esque mentality that m0ar p0wrz = m0ar 1337 w00tw00t etc. This coupled with people thinking of airsoft guns as weapons (which is kinda the opposite if what they are) so the more coke cans it can shoot through, i.e. the more damage it can do, the better.
@RenegadeSANTA a lot of out door fields allow guns that push hard so long as their semi or bolt action. they also usually have minimum engagement distances. I can say as a air aoft marksman that more fps really helps along with a tbb and hop up. also when the gun is pushing 500 fps on .20g odd are I'm not going to be using those but rather something much heavier like .45 or .48g bbs.
can you guys make an updated version of this video
i want to know your recommendations with the technology available now in 2012

in norway at the norwegian airsoft association the rules are
0-350fps no safety distance and no full auto restriction
350-450 fps 5 meter safety distance semi auto only
450-550 fps 10 meter safety distance bolt action only
and 550 is pretty much the max fps.

I'd say reshiming, correcting the AoE adding a new Bucking and regreasing are some of the most basic stuff you can do to your gun, later on you might wanna get a Tight Bore Barrel and then upgrade the piston/cylinder and heads after they break, Good Luck with your gun.
alvesdaniel85 9 months ago
ok so serious question,
1)is the KWA motor capable of pulling back the m150 spring
2)how good is the air compression on the KWA
3)are the KWA gears with shimming them capable of shooting 550 FPS

What about an airseal nozzle??????? lol you forgot that! ahh w/e ill put it on fb lol

It is classified 60°, hard buckings have 80°
andromedarr 10 months ago
The field we usually play at has no fps limit but they assume nobody is topping over 550 fps
FKRairsoft 10 months ago
i dont know why would anybody would want anything above 450.. it doesnt mean that the range is gonna go through the roof and the highest fps allowed at parks i know of is 400

SLobberTiZE 10 months ago
Will high tourque gears take less load off of my motor and battery? Im running an m130 with high tourque motor and 5000mah 9.6 but the battery doesn't last as long as i though it would.
byteme13456874 10 months ago
@byteme13456874 it depends on ur motor and ur shims, and spring. there are motors that arent as energy efficient. a good shimjob will let the gears spin with more ease so the motor doesnt have to use as much strength to turn them. and the stronger the spring is, the more the motor has to work because the motor turns the gears and the gears pull the spring. hope this helped ;)
LiteScar 10 months ago
@LiteScar thank u very much this cleared up a few things. The only other thing that i would like to know is that i don't kno the difference between m130 springs. Do they have different lenghts? Are they made of something different? Do they have irregular coils (mine has this). I have a modify sp130 spring if this helps. Also if my srping is no good should i get a different spring to help out with my motor and battery
byteme13456874 10 months ago
@byteme13456874 difference between springs is that different springs are more layered and others are thicker so the metal is stronger and stays in the same position stronger. so there is more resistance and thus the spring is much harder and stronger. irregular coils?
i think ur thinking about irregular pitch springs. its a unique design that supposedly gives the spring a longer life span so it doesnt break in as fast. and it maintains the fps strength for a longer time. normally, over time
LiteScar 10 months ago
@LiteScar Ya i was meaning irregular pitch. sorry bout that. So im guess through all this that if i were to say buy an m120, my motor wouldn't have to work as hard to pull the spring back and my battery would last longer, and i would be able to play with my gun at most fields for outdoor play? Is this right?
byteme13456874 10 months ago
@byteme13456874 no need for apologies, theres always some term or word that every airsofter wont know right away. yes, the weaker the spring, the less the motor has to work and it uses less power to turn a weaker spring. at m120, ur gun can still handle long range. u arent going to gain much range between spring strengths after m100's. downgrading from a m130 to a m120 will probably only take 10 feet away. and m120s can hit 400fps, so u should be fine ;)
LiteScar 10 months ago
@byteme13456874 over time, a spring will wear down and the fps will drop a litle. but iregular or regular pitch wont matter much because a normal spring wont lose a whole lot of fps even after years. i say u downgrade the spring to a m120 because that alone will greatly lower the stress on the motor as well as the gearbox. otherwise, u can always keep a spare battery in case ur current one runs out of juice
if u ever have more questions, dont hesitate to ask. im always happy to help ;)
LiteScar 10 months ago
@byteme13456874 well its because High Torque motors suck more power for their large magnets trying to pull back your spring. How is your 5000mah not lasting long? Are you hold the trigger down the entire time.
ThatNoobSomber 9 months ago
@ThatNoobSomber Its lasting fine now. No im not trigger happy but i had a bad solder on my mostfet at i simply resoldered it and we are good now. Im also looking into deans connectors to up performance a little. I also did get helical gears and noticed that my motor runs longer without heating up
byteme13456874 9 months ago
Whats the point of 500FPS most places wont let you use that and most sane people wont let you shoot it at them. I understand if its a support weapon or a DMR/sniper but really 400+ is fine. IMO.
ThatNoobSomber 10 months ago
If I upgrade my motor, gears, bushings, shims and cylinder. Will I have to upgrade the spring? (e.g will it break the standard spring) because I dont want an over powerful weapon

HOW DO I GET YOU GUYS TO PUT THEY'S THINGS ON THE GUN
ron431door 10 months ago
keep in mind that if you have a 500 FPS spring and you combine it with all the nice air seal parts along with a TBB and good hop up you'll be pushing well over 500 FPS
3rdvincetheman 10 months ago
Oh good lord, a aluminum pistol head on a high-fps dmr..... That is definitely going to crack your gearbox after a while..... Stick to polymer's for this

TheHekaa 11 months ago
why are ball bearings bad for high fps?
LiteScar 11 months ago
@LiteScar Ball bearing bushings can jam up under hi-tension. Ball-bearing bushings are great for hi-speed but for hi-fps, solid metal's are stronger
g4bandit 10 months ago
@g4bandit ok thanks for the info :)
what do ballbearings do btw?
LiteScar 10 months ago
@LiteScar They help the bushings spin, which reduces friction between the gears and the gearbox shell. It increases rate of fire and increases the lifespan of the gun overall
g4bandit 10 months ago
@g4bandit i understand now thankyou very much :)

@TheJonesdrew 45 bucks
TeamSpecOpsAirsoft 11 months ago
@TheJonesdrew they actually do have that option on the website. Depending on how heavily you want them to upgrade it will cost you anywhere from 20 bucks to 80. The upgrade deals come in packages, and I think they have to be purchased WITH the gun, not after.
TheSympathize 7 months ago
@TheJonesdrew If you send it to me (i live in Germany though...), i will charge you the price of the upgrade parts, plus a few dollars for instlaling and modding them so that they last.

Guitar4God1 1 year ago 45
@Guitar4God1 To see how far you can push your guns performance. Because it takes skill to build a gun at that power level and still have it work for more than 1000 rounds.
btrules 1 year ago
@Guitar4God1 I agree, 800 fps thats practically an automatic bb gun.

@Guitar4God1 800 FPS guns are there to show the technical skills of the tech, they are not there to play...well except in Russia

@Guitar4God1 u can use it. just have to use it in different ways like target shooting, pest control.

see my DMR p90 @ 500 fps. field tested and reliable.
g3tr00t3d 1 year ago
@g3tr00t3d why did you make a DMR out of a p90 which is a small cqb length gun? That just seems like a waste of money and time. Why not take a longer gun like an m4/m16/sig550/etc and use that as the base for a dmr? You would already have a stable platform that you can throw a lot of different upgrades in, mainly you would already have a long inner barrel instead of the p90's itty bitty barrel. No disrespect of anything I just fail to see the reasoning...
MrSleepyPuppy 1 year ago
@MrSleepyPuppy it is a bullpup design. therefore, a longer barrel fits fine. i put my tavor's 509mm inner barrel with a suppressor to hide it. it is very light and quiet. easy to use one handed. this project only cost me $200 including the cost of the p90. the p90 is the easiest platform to work on. i have several m4's but the cost to convert them to DMR is much more. my tavor has a TBB and shoots fine with an m150 main spring, but it's not as light or mobile as the p90.

does the battery on a gun effect how much power is behind your bb

@reedezycandrinkezy No, a new Battery only affects how many BBs are going down Range in Time. It has effects on ROF and Wear and Tear

so. noob to airsoft hopin to get some help from you experts. do you need to upgrade the gears if you want to upgrade the spring. if you have an aeg sniper can you manually cock the spring back to fire.
SuperAceBass 1 year ago
@YZ125ups piston tooth will break at the open end or the spring guide will break. most likely, the motor will not be able to pull the spring.
g3tr00t3d 1 year ago
whats the music name?
airsoft1232 1 year ago
@YZ125ups That depends on the Weapon. But you will probably break the Piston, The Gearboxshell, the Gears, the Bushings, the Spring Guide, the Hop Up, the Piston Head and everything else in the GUn. The Spring is that hard, the stock parts cant withstand it. but you will also not get thatmucvh FPS, because Stock Airseal Parts are not the best.
andromedarr 1 year ago
can you breakdown an Ares TAR 21? i want to know how easy/hard it would be to upgrade one of them
LyPatrick 1 year ago
@LyPatrick i upgraded my Tavor with a Matrix Magnum motor, full metal teeth poly piston, aluminum piston head with ball bearings, spring guide with ball bearings, rewired with AB mosfet, replaced faulty trigger microswitch, 6.03 TB, madbull blue bucking and nub, sorbo padding and AOE on piston, 9.6v 1600mAH.
main spring is m120 @ 460 fps or m150 @ 520 fps. it pulls the m150 easy so it should handle an m170.
g3tr00t3d 1 year ago
Why would you even want over 500 FPS unless you're using a DMR or something similar? Not to mention most fields wouldn't even let you in if your gun was 500 FPS...
RenegadeSANTA 1 year ago 28
@RenegadeSANTA If you have full auto permanentyl dissabled and your the distance away that they would say for a sniper rifle most fields will.I know its that way in Ohio.
Crazyairsoft1000 1 year ago
@RenegadeSANTA Most fields would let you use 500-550fps as long as the gun was modified for semi-only.
btrules 1 year ago
@RenegadeSANTA In finland full auto guns can shoot 1,6joules semiautos can shoot 2,25 joules and manual guns can shoot 3joules
TheHekaa 11 months ago
@RenegadeSANTA it's the Clarkson-esque mentality that m0ar p0wrz = m0ar 1337 w00tw00t etc. This coupled with people thinking of airsoft guns as weapons (which is kinda the opposite if what they are) so the more coke cans it can shoot through, i.e. the more damage it can do, the better.
fearthegeeklord 10 months ago
@RenegadeSANTA a lot of out door fields allow guns that push hard so long as their semi or bolt action. they also usually have minimum engagement distances. I can say as a air aoft marksman that more fps really helps along with a tbb and hop up. also when the gun is pushing 500 fps on .20g odd are I'm not going to be using those but rather something much heavier like .45 or .48g bbs.
3rdvincetheman 10 months ago
@RenegadeSANTA Agreed. i have a 400 fps and they wont let me in unless i use .25 bbs... Its so pointless to get a 500 fps gun
StayFrosty19 10 months ago
