Learn to read music. It is is extremely useful in the long run.

Learning to read music is useful, but in terms of using music for a guitar is somewhat impractical, as there will be many different positions to play one note, and usually a run will need to be played in a certain position otherwise it will be ridiculously difficult :P But reading music is useful, but I doubt how effective it is for a guitar.

Drummers need to be able to read rhythms at least. Drummers also use staff notation, though different from most instruments, it is still written music to be read. I think a lot of rock and metal drummers can get away without being able to read music, but learning a song on drums without hearing someone else play it first would be pretty tough without the ability to read music.

I've worked this song out. It took me two months to memorise the notes then a further two months to make it sound like an off the cuff improvisation. You can't struggle when you play this cos it will show. The hardest thing about this song is the feel. Nice playing just the same
