I'm enjoying this discussion. I totally agree with the Halle situation. Here's my take on it: In America you are Black even if you are white but if you are White you aren't Black. LOLz What?
But she is biologocially mixed. But I think emotionally and based on the worlds perception of her, she's Black. But I think it's deeper than that. In American Black doesn't always mean both parents are Black. Having one Black parent or going as far back as a great grand-parent and maybe further you are considered Black.
Dissappointed you gave Sandra Rose any thought. Sandra Rose is notoriously hateful in her comments and nothing she says should be even given any thought.
I don't know her business like that but I think she married one "black" man. Anything else is her own life, people need to chill. Like you said, she is half!

I Think that Blacks definitely need to stop looking for allies among non Blacks so often. Our history proves this is not the way. I believe many mixed race individuals ULTIMATELY understand the great difficulties that Blacks face in the world and much rather side with Caucasian in most ways(culturally and physically to specific). They have that right. Tiffany appears to mean well, but the underlining theme I perceive from most of her Vlog's is "I'm much more White identified than anything else."
i won't disagree with you entirely. the word "rather" doesn't ring true to me personally. I was immersed with white people. I liked them. That influenced me greatly. I won't apologize for that. neither should anyone with a black-er cultural id feel guilty about not gravitating towards whiteness. we are products of our environment. i know that when i am out in the world i am having the experience of a black woman, or at least a non-white. that leaves me id-ing as black but in a different way.
LOL! Not to be condescending , but then you use the word "immersed" what exactly do you mean? Are saying that were more immersed with thing associated with what some would call "White culture"? Say for instance ,I'd over hear you listening to a Bon Jovi song before I'd overhear you were listening to Big Daddy Kane song? Or are implying something different?
that's what i mean. the influences of my peers and their families, my teachers, the school system, and one whole half of my biological family, and then adding a step-family that i am close with. all of those were white. the white influences in my life outweighed the black. but this leaves me with no doubt in my mind that i am black and with a (somewhat) clear understanding of what it is to be black in america. i say somewhat because i don't know what it's like to be black without being white too
i agree that mixed race individuals ULTIMATELY understand the great difficulties that Blacks face in the world. I disagree with would rather, but i think i made that clear in my first response. if we'd "rather" anything it's preferring not to deny the other half of ourselves. not my fault that it happens to be easier to be white which leads others to the conclusion that we automatically run from the difficult (blackness). i think there's more beauty, strength and growth in struggle. i want both.

We haven't even seen this baby.People are just bitter,we haven't seen the baby's features, hair etc etc.Jennifer Beals is half black and has light tanned skin,I know mixed kids who are as brown as me.I know a quarter caste who has blonde hair but obvious black features. You can never TELL!I loved that part of the L word too,I remember watching it thinking they were just gonna brush over it,but I loved BETTE in that.Personally,I wanna see JB little girl-What do people have to say about that?
Why would anyone comment or be surprised by the babies color anyway? The child is part black so naturally there is a strong chance she will be brown or tan.
I guess the shock/surprise comes from who Halle Berry is. We all know Halle is Half-white, so people assume that since her child is less than half-black the baby would be light/white
I was shocked myself to find out the child was brown, only because I've seen women as dark as Grace Jones produce blonde haired blue eyed children... However, I understand it's all about the genetics the child receives that determine the look.
I'm not an expert in these things, but just from looking at the photos baby Nahla seems to be exactly the same color as Halle, not darker or lighter. It shouldn't really matter anyway.
Sandra Rose couldn't have made a more idiotic statement than when she claimed that Halle is upset that baby Nahla is brown and that Halle hates being black. Where is this weirdo getting this from. I don't think Halle's choice to have a child with Gabriel Aubry was fueled by colorism. I recall seeing an episode of Oprah where Halle very firmly stated that she wanted to have a child before 45, husband or not. So what if that man just happened to be white. I doubt it was "planned" that way.
I have been reading all of these blogs and forums about her baby but the funny thing is that no one has actually seen this child. There is one cropped up image floating around with Halle showing someone an image on her phone that may or may not be her baby. The other is a blurry shot of her in her yard holding the baby but the childs face is covered. The picture is so full of shadows that even her white mother looks brown.
so true! i also just don't understand why there is such negative speculation surrounding halle and child. i think mixed kids and babies are targets of racism and hatred more so than other babies. it's so weird. just to clarify, you mean that halle berry's white mother looks brown in the photos, right?
Many ethnic groups are white(claim it) but have mixed ancestry(example: Italians, Jews, Arabs, etc... they are NOT pure white ancestry but still claim it)
That why kinda my point. If white people are NOT of pure ancestry themselves, what stops others(biracials) with a white parent from claiming white?
The poster I was replying to, saw claiming white as "skin color" only. That's why I listed the ethnic groups that claim white but are known to have various racial backgrounds
In my opinion biracial people being white/claiming white is not about (skin tone.) It's who a person is through their parent. If your parent is black you want to claim black, if they are asian you claim asian
So what majority of Blacks in America are mixed with white. Being mixed with white 3 generations ago is a big fucking difference when it comes to being mixed through parents. So those biracials can claim white because it's closer to who they are in the now, in the family unit.
How do you ImNotRacistimBiais that all African Americans where mixed with white three generations ago??? How the hell do you know???? Because my family was mixed with white towards the end of the 21st century meaning the good ole 1920's. I am a second generation biracial and guess what ignorant not all biracial kids have loose curly hair and light skinned. Some biracial kids come out brown skinned with tight curly hair that forms into an Afro. Such as myself and my grandmother.
I'm a bit confused about this whole curly hair thing. As far as I know, a huge percentage of white people have curly hair anyway. I don't know where the myth that most white people have straight hair came from.

There are plenty of Latin folks with yellow skin and lose curly hair like you and they can't be white, matter of fact there is 45 million of them. The only spanish speaking folks that can pass for white are Spanish people from Spain. You are no different or better than the Hispanics or the African Americans. If they can't be white or pass for white than neither can you.
"You are no different or better than the Hispanics or the African Americans. If they can't be white or pass for white than neither can you."
---- quote :sugabear
As I said "animosity". You appear to be person wanting to be white or claim it? But you feel you can't because you aren't biracial, yet you have white ancestry.... that's why you're asking so many questions, practically whining about "Why you and not us.. why can you be white and not us" *shed a tear for sugabear*
Did I not read a yahoo page informing people on the concept of race, and what the person stated is.
That some militant Mulattos that don't want African Americans to generalize them and place the one drop rule on them. But yet so many militant mulattos such as yourself generalize African Americans by claiming that only FIRST-GENERATIONs biracial kids with a white mother can claim white and not the African Americans who are second-third generation biracial. This is complete BULLSHIT!
QUOTE: "But yet so many militant mulattos such as yourself generalize African Americans by claiming that only FIRST-GENERATIONs biracial kids with a white mother can claim white and not the African Americans who are second-third generation biracial. This is complete BULLSHIT!"
---
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WHINING ABOUT? WHERE IN MY COMMENTS DID I SAY ANY OF THIS?????
People can claim whatever they want, no matter how far the mixing took place. I said biracial through the parents may be able to claim white in society because they have a white parent.
"How do you ImNotRacistimBiais that all African Americans where mixed with white three generations ago??? How the hell do you know????"
Are you really this dumb? I threw out the term (3 generation ago) as an example, of course I don't every fucking person, damn hahahaha
I am just making an assumption, I didn't say u stated that. I quoted that from another website.
But it does sound like u are one of those militant mulattoes who only think that the one drop rule applies to y'all only. Even thou FIRST GENERATION Biracial folks one drop African Americans all the time, like making us feel we are nothing but 99% Africans and nothing else. That is wrong!

Look Tiffany JONES is not white!!!! aint no way she is white!! Biracial and Black yes, but just plain oh white yea right! Halle Berry is not white. LOOK at Tiffany's 51 video she is dead serious about being white. She aint white.
Once again your hate is not allowing you grasp the concept.
Of course tiffany is white, because of her ancestry.. her father is white, and the father determines a childs race(according to our country- USA)
Is she( and other multiracials) white in the meaning of (pale skin and blue eyes), of course NOT. But she is white. Just as person can be black and Asian. *sheesh*
We all already know your animosity towards the issue. You're lack of understanding is tedious
You know what I know what I perceived and I believe it too be bullshit. It dose not matter if you have a white father that does not make you white. Most African Americans are mixed with white by white fathers and they still are black. I am just making a damn point.
you are just jealous because you arent biracial. the point tiffany was trying to make is that she is just as much white as she is black. on your vlogs you claim to be biracial and you get upset when ppl tell you arent, cause you're not but when someone else who is actually black/white and claim their white side. you become hostile. what is wrong with you? are you insecure about yourself, your features? what is it suagabear906?
Furthermore there are hispanics that are lighter than you with straighter hair and they face discrimination on a daily basis because white folks see them as hispanic.
You are not white and Halle Berry is not white, she has even admitted that she was black. Look I don't understand some 1st generation biracial folks like yourself who think that just because they have white blood they can be white. Guess what Tiffany, there are 40 million African Americans and 45 million Hispanics with the same skinned tone as you with curly hair and they can't be white.
What I meant to say is that there are 40 million African Americans with white blood ranging from 20% to 60% white and they are black. If African Americans can't be white. Then why can you? What is so dare special about black kids with white mothers borne in the 21st century. How come y'all get to be white and the African Americans can't? They have white blood in them.
There is a difference between a black person with two "black parents" and a black person with one black and a parent of a different race/ethnic group. Different worlds and experiences. If you don't understand that, sorry!
I sense animosity in your comments... it's okay. Be happy with who YOU are, without stressing over why multiracial people do what they do
Are not the African Americans Multiracial themselves????? How can you(militant mulatto) claim that I as an African American, who have both white grandfathers on both my mother and fathers side of the family should not be worry about biracial. I consider African Americans biracial with an African mother and white fathers, this information has been confirmed by geneticist.
I don't understand why folks assume that we are 99% AFRICAN, when 50% of our family tree is white. EXPLAIN THAT??????????
Out of 120 ancestors the average African American has 18 to 22 white european ones. While its true most of us due have european in us I don't think we should start calling ourselves mixed race. The European in so far back that most of its genes is now completely recessive in us.
can you sugabear906 prove that your 50% white. and you are which i seriously doubt so what! if you go around saying that in the real world ppl would look at you and laugh. learn how to love yourself and stop trying to be something that you are not.
she's said that she's black AND white. i think she's aware that she isn't white and i think halle berry probably knows she isn't white either. i don't understand why claiming both races is so difficult for some to accept.
P.S. For some reason being 1/4th is the cut off for a lot of things, i.e. someone has to have a minimum of 1/4 Native American blood to get government benefits, and a woman must be at least 1/4 black to be in the Miss Black America pageant. Imagine my ivory butt going up on stage! *busts out with black girl laugh*
LOL! I wish you would. I want to make a documentary of your journey thru that :-D I had no idea that 1/4 was a cut off. i thought 1/8th was. thanks for sharing.
Like Halle's baby, as you know I'm a quadroon too. But she's in the public eye, and the baby looks ethnic, so she's certainly have a different life experience.
I can understand why you said you are black when it comes to slavery, because in all actuality if you where born in those days u may have been in the house but you would have been still look at as blk.
I also understand what you are saying about you attract what u thing you attract...if that makes since:/
Is it just me, or am I the only one that asked "What are you talking about Tiff?" lol
I assume that you always claimed that you was both black and white. But this video (I think) implies you claim different races depending on the situation. Tell me if my evaluation is wrong.
And let me guess, they hated on you because of your hair length. Right?
i'll bet you are not alone :-D Hi! I actually have always claimed that i am black. i've been trying to incorporate my whiteness and adopt a biracial identity for the last few years. i never claim different races depending on the situation. i have never and will never simply state that i'm white. i don't think i'll ever state that i'm just black either, but i can't be sure. And yeah, the hair length did it every time. but it's been a while. old news. but i thought it relevant to something here.
That's interesting that you talk about silence being equated with shame and hiding. I think that happens in the gay community with the idea of "the closet". Identify yourself into a socially viable category so people feel comfortable or we'll assume you're ashamed. If people can't easily race you, they decide you must have something to hide. That can be just as oppressive. On a separate note, that's so weird that people don't feel super creepy for talking about celebrity babies like that.
yes, yes, and yes! i like the way you put that: socially viable category. and i'll never understand the attention to celeb babies. especially negative attention. i felt creepy talking about it but i don't feel all that guilty cuz i didn't start the conversation, but geez it's weird.
thank you! so great to see your name here! i thought you'd given up on me :-) i hope things are going well and you guys are enjoying the summer. i'm about to watch your vid!

Why would anyone comment or be surprised by the babies color anyway? The child is part black so naturally there is a strong chance she will be brown or tan.
myjrpics 3 years ago
I guess the shock/surprise comes from who Halle Berry is. We all know Halle is Half-white, so people assume that since her child is less than half-black the baby would be light/white
I was shocked myself to find out the child was brown, only because I've seen women as dark as Grace Jones produce blonde haired blue eyed children... However, I understand it's all about the genetics the child receives that determine the look.
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
I'm not an expert in these things, but just from looking at the photos baby Nahla seems to be exactly the same color as Halle, not darker or lighter. It shouldn't really matter anyway.
ajs41 3 years ago
Sandra Rose couldn't have made a more idiotic statement than when she claimed that Halle is upset that baby Nahla is brown and that Halle hates being black. Where is this weirdo getting this from. I don't think Halle's choice to have a child with Gabriel Aubry was fueled by colorism. I recall seeing an episode of Oprah where Halle very firmly stated that she wanted to have a child before 45, husband or not. So what if that man just happened to be white. I doubt it was "planned" that way.
millae77 3 years ago
In response to what you said about Halle Berry.
The picture is so full of shadows that even her white mother looks brown.
myjrpics 3 years ago
so true! i also just don't understand why there is such negative speculation surrounding halle and child. i think mixed kids and babies are targets of racism and hatred more so than other babies. it's so weird. just to clarify, you mean that halle berry's white mother looks brown in the photos, right?

Many ethnic groups are white(claim it) but have mixed ancestry(example: Italians, Jews, Arabs, etc... they are NOT pure white ancestry but still claim it)
Get over it!
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
There isn't really any such thing as "pure white". Every white person is just as mixed up as other ethnic groups.
ajs41 3 years ago
That why kinda my point. If white people are NOT of pure ancestry themselves, what stops others(biracials) with a white parent from claiming white?
The poster I was replying to, saw claiming white as "skin color" only. That's why I listed the ethnic groups that claim white but are known to have various racial backgrounds
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
In my opinion biracial people being white/claiming white is not about (skin tone.) It's who a person is through their parent. If your parent is black you want to claim black, if they are asian you claim asian
So what majority of Blacks in America are mixed with white. Being mixed with white 3 generations ago is a big fucking difference when it comes to being mixed through parents. So those biracials can claim white because it's closer to who they are in the now, in the family unit.
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
such a big difference. it seems like many people refuse to understand this. thank you so much for these comments :-)
tiffdjones 3 years ago
How do you ImNotRacistimBiais that all African Americans where mixed with white three generations ago??? How the hell do you know???? Because my family was mixed with white towards the end of the 21st century meaning the good ole 1920's. I am a second generation biracial and guess what ignorant not all biracial kids have loose curly hair and light skinned. Some biracial kids come out brown skinned with tight curly hair that forms into an Afro. Such as myself and my grandmother.
sugabear906 3 years ago
I'm a bit confused about this whole curly hair thing. As far as I know, a huge percentage of white people have curly hair anyway. I don't know where the myth that most white people have straight hair came from.
ajs41 3 years ago
show me a picture of your biracial grandmother cause you definitly dont look it sugabear906.

There are plenty of Latin folks with yellow skin and lose curly hair like you and they can't be white, matter of fact there is 45 million of them. The only spanish speaking folks that can pass for white are Spanish people from Spain. You are no different or better than the Hispanics or the African Americans. If they can't be white or pass for white than neither can you.
sugabear906 3 years ago
"You are no different or better than the Hispanics or the African Americans. If they can't be white or pass for white than neither can you."
---- quote :sugabear
As I said "animosity". You appear to be person wanting to be white or claim it? But you feel you can't because you aren't biracial, yet you have white ancestry.... that's why you're asking so many questions, practically whining about "Why you and not us.. why can you be white and not us" *shed a tear for sugabear*
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
Did I not read a yahoo page informing people on the concept of race, and what the person stated is.
That some militant Mulattos that don't want African Americans to generalize them and place the one drop rule on them. But yet so many militant mulattos such as yourself generalize African Americans by claiming that only FIRST-GENERATIONs biracial kids with a white mother can claim white and not the African Americans who are second-third generation biracial. This is complete BULLSHIT!

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WHINING ABOUT? WHERE IN MY COMMENTS DID I SAY ANY OF THIS?????
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
To:Sugabear part 2
People can claim whatever they want, no matter how far the mixing took place. I said biracial through the parents may be able to claim white in society because they have a white parent.
"How do you ImNotRacistimBiais that all African Americans where mixed with white three generations ago??? How the hell do you know????"
Are you really this dumb? I threw out the term (3 generation ago) as an example, of course I don't every fucking person, damn hahahaha
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
I am just making an assumption, I didn't say u stated that. I quoted that from another website.
But it does sound like u are one of those militant mulattoes who only think that the one drop rule applies to y'all only. Even thou FIRST GENERATION Biracial folks one drop African Americans all the time, like making us feel we are nothing but 99% Africans and nothing else. That is wrong!
sugabear906 3 years ago
Quote sugabear: But it does sound like u are one of those militant mulattoes who only think that the one drop rule applies to y'all only.

Far from it!
You should see the militants that try to force biracials into being black only. I thought you were one of them actually.

Look Tiffany JONES is not white!!!! aint no way she is white!! Biracial and Black yes, but just plain oh white yea right! Halle Berry is not white. LOOK at Tiffany's 51 video she is dead serious about being white. She aint white.
sugabear906 3 years ago
Once again your hate is not allowing you grasp the concept.
Of course tiffany is white, because of her ancestry.. her father is white, and the father determines a childs race(according to our country- USA)
Is she( and other multiracials) white in the meaning of (pale skin and blue eyes), of course NOT. But she is white. Just as person can be black and Asian. *sheesh*
We all already know your animosity towards the issue. You're lack of understanding is tedious

Because Tiffany said she was white and I don't agree!!

well would you agree if she said she was black?
Exactly where do you draw the line?

good question, rachel ;)
Crazzzybabie 3 years ago
she didn't say that. you seem so angry that you've missed what she was trying to say.
adrianalarisa 3 years ago
You know what I know what I perceived and I believe it too be bullshit. It dose not matter if you have a white father that does not make you white. Most African Americans are mixed with white by white fathers and they still are black. I am just making a damn point.
sugabear906 3 years ago
you are just jealous because you arent biracial. the point tiffany was trying to make is that she is just as much white as she is black. on your vlogs you claim to be biracial and you get upset when ppl tell you arent, cause you're not but when someone else who is actually black/white and claim their white side. you become hostile. what is wrong with you? are you insecure about yourself, your features? what is it suagabear906?
frenchie510 3 years ago 2
Furthermore there are hispanics that are lighter than you with straighter hair and they face discrimination on a daily basis because white folks see them as hispanic.
sugabear906 3 years ago
You are not white and Halle Berry is not white, she has even admitted that she was black. Look I don't understand some 1st generation biracial folks like yourself who think that just because they have white blood they can be white. Guess what Tiffany, there are 40 million African Americans and 45 million Hispanics with the same skinned tone as you with curly hair and they can't be white.
sugabear906 3 years ago
guess what, you're wrong. it has nothing to do with skin tone. you don't have to understand that. i do.
tiffdjones 3 years ago
What I meant to say is that there are 40 million African Americans with white blood ranging from 20% to 60% white and they are black. If African Americans can't be white. Then why can you? What is so dare special about black kids with white mothers borne in the 21st century. How come y'all get to be white and the African Americans can't? They have white blood in them.
sugabear906 3 years ago
There is a difference between a black person with two "black parents" and a black person with one black and a parent of a different race/ethnic group. Different worlds and experiences. If you don't understand that, sorry!
I sense animosity in your comments... it's okay. Be happy with who YOU are, without stressing over why multiracial people do what they do
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
so well said! exactly!
tiffdjones 3 years ago
Are not the African Americans Multiracial themselves????? How can you(militant mulatto) claim that I as an African American, who have both white grandfathers on both my mother and fathers side of the family should not be worry about biracial. I consider African Americans biracial with an African mother and white fathers, this information has been confirmed by geneticist.
I don't understand why folks assume that we are 99% AFRICAN, when 50% of our family tree is white. EXPLAIN THAT??????????
sugabear906 3 years ago
50%?
More like 8% to 22%.
Out of 120 ancestors the average African American has 18 to 22 white european ones. While its true most of us due have european in us I don't think we should start calling ourselves mixed race. The European in so far back that most of its genes is now completely recessive in us.
myjrpics 3 years ago
It is obvious you misread all my comments, or you simply can't comprehend them.
1-It's not that difficult to grasp.
2- Your stats are way off.
3- Sorry, you feel left out in some way.
4- You can claim what ever you want. It's your life.
I don't understand your confusion on the subject o.O
ImNotRacistImBias 3 years ago
can you sugabear906 prove that your 50% white. and you are which i seriously doubt so what! if you go around saying that in the real world ppl would look at you and laugh. learn how to love yourself and stop trying to be something that you are not.
frenchie510 3 years ago
she's said that she's black AND white. i think she's aware that she isn't white and i think halle berry probably knows she isn't white either. i don't understand why claiming both races is so difficult for some to accept.

SuchAPrettyMess 3 years ago

I assume that you always claimed that you was both black and white. But this video (I think) implies you claim different races depending on the situation. Tell me if my evaluation is wrong.
And let me guess, they hated on you because of your hair length. Right?
hollyhoodjoe123 3 years ago 2
i'll bet you are not alone :-D Hi! I actually have always claimed that i am black. i've been trying to incorporate my whiteness and adopt a biracial identity for the last few years. i never claim different races depending on the situation. i have never and will never simply state that i'm white. i don't think i'll ever state that i'm just black either, but i can't be sure. And yeah, the hair length did it every time. but it's been a while. old news. but i thought it relevant to something here.
tiffdjones 3 years ago
That's interesting that you talk about silence being equated with shame and hiding. I think that happens in the gay community with the idea of "the closet". Identify yourself into a socially viable category so people feel comfortable or we'll assume you're ashamed. If people can't easily race you, they decide you must have something to hide. That can be just as oppressive. On a separate note, that's so weird that people don't feel super creepy for talking about celebrity babies like that.
sodacop 3 years ago
yes, yes, and yes! i like the way you put that: socially viable category. and i'll never understand the attention to celeb babies. especially negative attention. i felt creepy talking about it but i don't feel all that guilty cuz i didn't start the conversation, but geez it's weird.
