Notice how she pumps the woman for information about her question ("What is my mother's name?"), and when the woman supplies her with "I'm adopted," Sylvia immediately snaps, "I know that." Well if she knew that, then why didn't she just say the mother's name? Why did she need to ask, "you mean her maiden name, or..." Sylvia is a mediocre cold reader, and she needed more info in order to make a safe reply. It would be funny if it wasn't so utterly nauseating.
