i know a youtuber who uses that same ballad-style sort of singing for all her covers, fast or slow, and it feels weird listening to this powerful voice singing a dance song, LOL. so yeah, hope that helps. and so so so so srry for the ridiculously long comments! again, AWESOME VIDEO! well done, Jas! okay, up on facebook it goes~~~

also, while practising songs with a strong rhythm like this, you could try snapping your fingers or clapping to it, on the 2nd and 4th beats (if the song has a 4/4 time signature), to get the groove in you a little. with that going on, feel the groove, and sing to it.:) the spots of emphases in your singing, the dynamics of your voice, etc. will change to suit the groove much better. you may even want to sing outside of the "pocket" every now and then to give the song a little more movement.

or move away from that same spot even, since your brother would probably need you to stand still you edit you floating around the screen anyways, lol. you could lighten up much more and be loads more expressive with your hands, moving your feet on the spot, just generally moving your body (from head to toe) more. judging from your background, i know that should be a piece of cake for you.:) you'll convey the upbeat rhythm of the song much more that way i feel.

OMG, this video is sooo cute!:D i'm so sorry i didn't see this much much much earlier! i'm putting this on my facebook! was starting to wonder if you would cover an upbeat song any time soon. ^_^ btw, would you mind if i suggested a couple of things? i noticed in many of your videos you pretty much just stand there, not moving a whole lot. well, for a song like this, it would look loads better and more natural to move around a bit more. you don't have to do a full-on dance...

It kept moving with my feet so some other clips we took didn't work. Plus this was recorded with my mum's phone camera. It doesn't work very well when I move about:)

My initial attempts in writing music often felt like having created something really beautifull in my mind, but when actually trying to play it, it disappeard like a popping soap-bubble, having difficulty finding the chord progressions etcetera. Please don't feel obliged to anything, but I wonder if you tried, do you recognize my experience?

Did you ever try this: Start by just thinking a few lyric-like sentences. Repeat them in your mind. Allow your mind to play with the rythm of the words. Is a melody coming up to you? If you like it, keep repeating it in your mind until you know it by hart. Does this sound familiar to you?

...you have all you need to create songs of your own, except perhaps enough time ;-) You already proved to be persistant, you've got adequate skills on the piano, you're a splendid singer and I guess you also have good understanding of lyrics. Great song, beautifully sung Jas, but I'm not as enthused about the video as other people are. I would have avoided the amputated legs look - it can be done. I suspect chroma key is used here. Sorry, I usually praise your new releases with 100%, but I don't want to be less than honest. Still, it's the song and the singing that's important, both superb. Keep 'em coming.
