I love both games equally, maybe the old mario games more but there seems to be a lot of Mario fanboys that don't really know much about Sonic aside from "he is fast." Sonic is still a good fighter and if you actually look at his speed outside of just the pixel game then his speed would be way than a match for Mario. What good is power and durability if your attacks are never able to hit? Lets not forget if you power up Mario then lets just allow Sonic to go Super Sonic :P

Sonic has, Shield, Bubble Shield, Electric Shield, Chaos Emeralds, Super Emeralds, Fire Shield, 7 World Rings, Wisps, etc. Sonic is fast. The faster you go, the stronger the impact, the stronger the impact, the more damage. Sonic can slice through Metal Robots like paper, so even if Mario used ANY of his power ups he would still get sliced in half. Watch the opening of Sonic Unleashed.
