  • Are you sure it's safe to use plaster? Because I read on the box it says: DO NOT attempt to make a cast enclosing any part of the body using this material. Failure to follow these instructions may cause severe burns that may require surgical remove of affected tissues. O_O

  • @fancysnake1

I´m confused, did you really watched the video before you wrote this comment?

  • @LeonardoDiCapriSonne I swear I really thought you said plaster D:

  • @fancysnake1 It's easy to be confused, the title after all is 'Plaster Cast of a Hand'. But yes, he is using alginate.

  • @fancysnake1

Plaster heats up when it dries and can reach extreme temperatures, however, it's safe to do something like this. Just don't try to stand in a big bucket of it as it hardens.

  • Preety cool. She is beautiful.

  • is that plaster hes using?

  • Omg I really want to do this with my mom's hands. I kinda want to immortalize the hands that worked so hard to raise me. :)

  • I will try this out tomorrow.. We're required to make negative hand molds with plaster but it's so wasteful since I'm not really any good with plaster. Thanks for the tutorial! :D

  • I doubt I could get dad to do that ! can I do something with plaster(fast drying?)! :)

  • Haha your dad is so cool being your victim for all these videos.

  • Very good work!! May I ask where you studied SFX?.. :)

  • so much easier with a hand to dip it into alginate instead of putting it on like this.

  • @buckyew2

Sure it´s easier. But also expensive. My intention is to show how it´s going at a lower price. ;)

  • OMG. Great video!!!

  • um... i don't understand... why is is yellow? what did you fill it with?

    but it's a good tutorial =)

  • let me say that again...

When you took of the plaster it was yellow, i don't know i might have missed something but can you tell me what you put in there?

plus how much alginate did you use and how much would i need if i wanted to do both hands from just below the wrist?

    THANK YOU!

  • @angelwings2323

Hi, sorry for the late answer.

You don´t missed something, it was only a yellow plaster that I filled in the mold, nothing special, the color is not important.

I guess 500 - 600 g alginate should be enough for both hands.

    Thank you for watching.

  • @LeonardoDiCapriSonne can the same be done with feet?

  • @PD19954

    Of course.

It´s even possible with the whole body.

Watch for body molding or body dummy effects.

    Thank you for watching!

  • @LeonardoDiCapriSonne great thanks for the reply. i need to make a plaster cast of my feet to send to my figure skate and speed skate boot maker for custom skates.

also cant you just dip your hand or feet in a bowl or tub of alginate and wait for the altinate to become firm and then filll the alginate mold with plaster?

  • @PD19954

Sure! And it´s the easiest way to make a mold.

But you also need more alginate.

I show in my video only the economical way. ;)

  • That is awesome!

  • 4:50 what with his nose XD lololololololololololol!!!! nice video by the way

  • just curious for a piece i am working on...

Would oil paint or acrylic paint work better when painting over a plaster cast?

  • @xminerva16x

Well, I never paint over a plaster cast.

But I think it´s better when you seal the plaster cast with Glatzan before you paint it.

You will receive the best result when you use Body Illustration Color with the BIC Activator.

    Thank you for watching.

  • thank you!

The video and comments were very helpful :)

  • saugeil das alles :)

  • NICE TITS

  • lol 5:20 is he getting a plaster cast of his nose?

  • Hi I'm over in Australia, any idea on where to get alginate or if its called something different over here? Great vid by the way, loads of help.

    Thanks heaps

  • Hey :) I'm in Australia too, Sydney. Where abouts are you?

  • 4:11

  • thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you for watching!!!

  • that was good.. thanks.. from: Lucas.. in USA..

i was tryin gto make a sculpture.. and i wasnted to know if plaster coul dbe used in a rubber mold.-- i think it can be.. as long as i spray it with something,, so it is easy to remove the mold.

    ok.. thanks again. from:Lucas

  • Oh, alginate is a great material, it replicated any details from the part you apply. Fingerprints, crow's-feet, scars etc...

When the alginate is dry, it can´t bind with plaster!

    Thank you for watching!

  • where do u get plaster from?

  • waltmart
