sam was a genius....a singular talent.....but so was reverend harris. sam learned how to sing in no small part by mimicking r h harris when sam sang with the que cees. gospellin - you post some COOL stuff! would love to meet your uncle in ocala. i live in orlando. can't imagine meeting a link to history.
Awesome....one of my mentors.......He could have sang for the Blind Boys after the death of Archie Brownlee....same fervor....Wow...Keep em coming......Cooke
I don't remember the album because i borrowed it from a friend and just copied it and added some of his other work to it. The selections he did for Sam Cooke with the Gospel Paraders and for Columbia Records. i have to contact my friend about the original lp/ i must add it's a fantastic album
It's an amazing album . According to the discography book Pop Harris recorded the "Because He Lives Lp in 1978. But I agree it does have a modern sound

Since the Soul Stirrers have already been inducted and he was there in the begining, that would include him also.

How old was he at the time of this recording? My God, he sounds incredible and he had been singing since the late 1930's! ...Never Turn Back.

Beautiful song...does sound very modern though.... like it was made recently...R.H. Harris was one of the best vocalists of his time....

I didn't know this recording was that old. All of that synthesized instrumentation had me thinking more like late 80s or early 90s.
