Learning to play by ear is the best way to learn to play any song, because it not only teaches you natural tuning and a good memory for notes and arrangements, but it also teaches you to learn to be able to listen to other musicians, whilst you're playing at the same time, and that is something that you need to learn well in order to be able to play in a bamd :)

I would say there're like 4 things to train to be great musician:

- ear training

- speed training

- knowing fretboard and all notes on it

- knowing scales

@mraysarissa what matters is skill and to know what ur doing ( music theory ) than speed comes by time for example lets say u have alot of speed but then u can only play down down down so u can never match the whit someone hwos playing down up down up ( just an example )

marcos it sounds awesome, but you are playing it on the wrong key man, try detuning your guitar one fret and you will get the exact sound as the album version, i was fooling around once with keys and i detuned my guitar one fret lower and played the song, it sounds exactly the way slash plays it. thats why slah always changed guitar when he played this song live.

yeah learn to play by ear, stop using tabs man, and that skills just doenst come u need years to build it up, once u get dependant on tbas it will be hard to fix it, i een playing for 6 months and i didnt think i ahd that skill, but guess what, u never truly know until you try it and train ur ear. heck great guitarrist play by ear, slash being one.

learn to play by ear. Too many times you get crappy tabs. Plus, you should have that skill anyway.

well you're not gonna get it by not using tabs alone (using them as well as listening can really help) The only way to develop skills is to practice and do it over and over. listen to songs and see if you can figure out what they're playing.

or

listen to songs you know and establish how you know which chords they are.
