As you know it better Korea is no more 'the land of morning calm' or 'hermit kingdom'. Those nicknames were attached by Westerners when Korea was not open to the outside world about 100 years ago.
Korea is now 'the land of night noise(bustling night life)' or 'aggressive republic'. : )
The thing I hate about Korean winter and the floor heating is the walls and windows sweating! Both apartments even in this new building everything sweats!
I'm pleased it's going so well for you. If you had any reservations before you went, I'm sure they have now all been dispelled because you seem really happy there. I hope your partner likes it as much as you do. If we don't see you before, Merry Christmas! :-)
Radiant floor heat is the best! Hey - what's an average family size in Korea? Do they tend towards large families? Or a more sustainable small family size?? Just curious. Here in LA it's just a few degrees above freezing at night; 38F tonight - but beautiful during the day. So you and Jo are going to have a terrific Christmas! Best wishes to you both.
I love reading the comments and checking out these blogs about teaching in Korea or just teaching English in other countries in general. I was thinking of doing this once, and I didn't because I didn't know anyone doing it, wasn't sure about going out alone, etc. I like learning about it this way. ;)
i live on guam where its summer all year round so i'm going to enjoy the winter when i visit this december. street food taste extra delicious in the cold and the christmas lights everywhere is just beautiful. hopefully it will snow.
Cold? You have got to be kidding! I was always warm outside in Bundang! I'm form north of Syracuse: it doesn't get cold until it dips below -20 C!! LOL

Thanks for the tip about laying the clothes on the floor! I'll have to remember that when I go over there.

I like how you can warm your clothes by laying them on the floor.
That was a very creative idea you came up with!
I hope when Jo joins you, you can put her on camera with you (I'm sure she would be thrilled to be seen by your audience).
I am so happy for both of you!

I was recording in Manhattan earlier today and it was in the 60s.
I couldn't believe how warm it was, I had to take off my scarf and even my coat seemed a bit much.
Most guys were walking around the city with just their business suits, no coats.
I hope the warmth continues. It was beautiful today.

I really miss the in floor heating there. My wife also says she misses it so much too!
I used to dry my laundry on the floor at times! Great stuff :)
Take care and I hope December 4th comes faster for you!

Winter is descending! I think you're a little chillier than Tokyo, though. Stay warm out there!
