  • Hydrocephalus information and support here. :) Great video!

  • i was diagnosed by my grandfather at 6 months old. I had 8 surgeries before i turned 13, and it was an awful childhood! no fun, but im glad its been taken care of!

  • I was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus when 2000 when i was 13. My mother was also diagnosed with it in 2002 at the age of 42. I had a shunt put in that same year and felt pretty good until a year later i found out that i need another surgery to put a tube from the shunt which is on my right side to my left ventricle. My mom has had 4 surgery for Hydrocephalus but it was to relieve the pressure from her brain. She does not have a shunt but the drilled a small hole to let the fluid drain.

  • I've Had My Shunt Since I Was A Baby (Congenital Hydrocephalus)....4 Revisions Over My Life Time (Age 31 Now)....Just Wanted To Ask Those Of You Who Also Have A Shunt..I Always Get Asked Or Am Commented About My Neck..."You Have A Big Vein In Your Neck" Does Anyone Else Get That Comment From People Every Now And Then? I'm Used To The Comment But Its Just That Sometimes I Want To Give People A Medical Book And Say "Read"...Any One Else Have This Comment Every Now And Then? :))

  • I was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus in 1967. I had the surgery soon after. I had one relapse in 1978, severe headaches and seizures. The CAT scans were just becoming available. The doctors were able to treat my problem. Almost 35 years later, I have had an occasional headache and my gait gives me trouble but overall I have been in very good condition. I thank God everyday!!

  • I have one of the oldest shunts that was ever put in. I received mine back in 1973 when shunts were very primitive. I have had mind all this time with no worries or complications. I know people who have received shunts and they have so many complications. I went back to the surgeon 20 year ago, and found that the tube disengaged from the shunt (naturally do to growth). They restarted it and it worked to well. But it was finally caped off, and now I am living a life without it.

  • I had my first put in at 2 months old, 1993. It failed, 2007 had it revised at 15 yrs of age. I do hope its the last time I ever have to get it revised.

I get what you said about pain shooting up. I was bed ridden for about 6 months because my doctor didn't diagnose my symtoms for a revision. The pain was excrutiating. You would ussually feel a build up and then nothing would happen, but as soon as that went away it would explode into a massive pain. under your eyes and front of the forehead.

  • Omg girl u keep a box of old stitches? Eww that can't be sanitary :-). I found your videos on here which have inspired me to upload my own so watch out for a dude with a pink Mohawk banging on about hydro that'll be me hehe

  • I don't like going there is because. I see little kids who have the exact same thing as me but are mentally handicap to the point that they will never live on their own. It's humbling and I'm glad Dr. Kosnik was my doctor.

  • I have this as well, looking at all the post I must be lucky. I've only had the initial surgery and that was it. I've had it for nearly 20 years. But last year, I had a chest X-ray and my family doc said my shunt is broke in have superior to my clavical. Saw my nuerosurgon, had a ct and said that I don't have hydrocephalus anymore. Question, what are the chances of that actually happening out of 100 cases? I would like to the statistics. I'm 21 and still go to children's hospital in Columbus.

  • Hay I have a shut the doctors in ny are the best and if u read this u should cheap out doctor abbot motifor
