  • Does the zoom make a loud noise?

  • Is the 550d and the Canon rebel t2i the same thing?

  • @LifeofaMinecrafter Yes, the t2i is just the american name for it...I think?

  • If my first camera is a 500d (I have had it for about 2 years now) is buying the 550d a good step up?

    thanks (:

  • king of slwmotion

  • I hope Canon is paying you for this, because you just sold me.

  • Just bought one yesterday great camera...

  • thanks dude :D I shalll buy one :D

  • Excellent review, exactly what I was looking for :) I am going to be using this to record my youtube video's as well as get stuck into photography and it seems to tick all the boxes :)

  • Great review mate.

I'm getting one for my 18th birthday, and seeing this has made me even more excited to get one! :D

  • To watch the 550D perform, hit up my channel, bought it after watching THIS REVIEW! It's a great camera. Thanks Gordon!

  • are the Canon EOS 550D and Rebel T2i different cameras or the same?

  • Thank u very much. U speak very clearly and i understand u (im Bulgarian 14 years old and not perfect at english but u make it to understand u easy) u give really important information for this camera to me and im going to buy it. I was think there's no camera which have - 5x or 10x at capture mode to see is all perfect focused. It's really good idea from Canon. But i see it have really much options and im thinking this will be hard for me to understand all from them... I never had DSLR.. Thx!!!

  • @atisas2 Thankyou, I'm pleased yo fouhnd it useful. PS - I have been on holiday to Bulgaria and had a great time! A very beautiful and friendly country.

  • can you tell me if I buy this camera now? or how good of an investment will it be?

  • @humxa24 It's s till a great camera, but there might be a new model in the next 6 months,

  • @cameralabs What about the 600D?

  • @StraightEdgeVideos the body refers to only the camera without lens. If you buy only the camera body you will have to choose and buy your own lens to start using the camera

  • Comment removed

  • @StraightEdgeVideos the "body" means you cant use it straight away it is basically the frame you cant take pictures

  • hey man i just bought this slr digital camera today and when i record videos on my cam it sows the picture is fin but when i transfeer to pc the quality is bad

  • If I was going to mount this camera on a tripod with a great view of an interstate, and take a 30 minute shutter, what would be good ISO and Aperature settings?

  • @TylerVanderkooy Use the lowest ISO and really close down the aperture, maybe like f22. A 30 minute exposure is very long and will let in a LOT of light, You may need to try some shorter exposures first, like 5 minutes, or even 1 minute until you get a feel of the correct exposure.

  • @cameralabs K. thank you. Do you have a specs page on your website for this camera?

  • i have video tests on my channel :) come and check it out

  • Great video well done

  • best camera for its price

  • Now the body of 550d is available for only 499$ at Amazon. :)

  • Very insightful and good review! Thanks a lot.

  • @disnox Hey you should check this video out its the cnaon t2i in pretty good action while we were testing it out!

  • Great video. Just ordered a 550d myself (actually the equivalent Kiss X4), so I now feel like I'll know my way around the camera when it arrives.

  • QUICK QUESTION: WHAT CAMERA AND LENS WAS USED TO SHOOT THE REST OF THIS VIDEO? great review by the way:)

  • @93calebjones 18-135 he said it.....

  • Why I cant record more than 5 seconds???? Can some help please

  • @LaAnarquiamusica Sounds like yuor memory card is too slow. You'll need class 6 or faster for this camera.

  • You are be congratulated. This was an extremely thorough,,

and intelligently presented review. It seems that.t every feature of the camera was clearly explained Thanks

  • @RegoParkpoet Thankyou! This video just scratches the surface of my full review at cameralabs . com!

  • Gordon I've been watching your reviews and following them on your website for a few years by now. Now doubt that your reviews are simply the best (full, integrated, consistent approach, etc.)

I noticed on Amazon and Ebay (when checking the 1 star reviews) that failure rate of Nikon products seems to be higher (I was looking at the D5100 and D5000 and even the higher quality semi-pro D90).Do you have any idea or previous experience about this? Do you think Canon's failure rate is lower?

  • @VideoDocR I'm talking here about a point that is never covered by any review. Either because reviewers try not to be prejudice about a certain brand, or because they fail to cover hidden points like that.

  • @VideoDocR It's an interesting observation, but I'm certainly not hiding anything myself! I haven't noticed one brand being particularly more prone to failure or returns than another. You'll hear more complaints about the bigger brands in any category though as they simple sell more units. Most reviewers look at a product at the start of its life, so the best people to comment are the stores which handle the returns.

  • Just last Saturday, I purchased the Canon EOS Rebel T2i, my first DSLR camera and must say that I was very impressed with the features after trying it out. The photos were very detailed and clear, which was what I was looking for a camera that takes crisp clear photos. I enjoy watching this review and I am glad that I purchased this camera for it is above my expectations. Thanks for sharing.

  • is it a good idea to buy it now if I don't need the swivelling lcd?

  • Excellent review, thanks

  • Now, this is how reviews need to be done! Not some kid unboxing "I'm reading specs" review of camera. Congrats!

  • This is such a great review

  • what do you think about the shutter count life time in this camera ?

  • great review, I was wondering your opinion, I can get the 550D with the 18-55mm for the same price as the 600D with the 50mm f1.8 for the same price. Which do you think is the better option for someone new photography?

    Thanks

  • @HappyDude224 The 50mm f1.8 becomes a short telephoto lens on the 600D / 550D, so while it's great for portraits, it's too long for general-purpose shots. As such I wouldn't recommend it as your only lens. So if those are your only two choices, get the 550D with the 18-55, then buy the 50mm later if you get into portraits or low light work.

  • @cameralabs Thanks for the quick reply and the advice, it was very helpful

  • Love all your videos.. you are one of the best..

  • I just ordered my Rebel T2i from Amazon. After watching this review, I feel that I made a good purchasing. Thanks & greetings from Mexico.

  • Excellent review - have just gone and bought one of these. My first DSLR since the Canon 300D... way back. Not been into photography over the last few years and just getting back into it so hoping this model is going to meet my expectations and get me back into aviation photography. Thanks again for a very informative review, certainly helped with my decison making.

  • is the canon 550D HD 1080-60i? or HD 1080-50i? or 1080-24p video mode?

  • @jackie20ization It does 1080p at 24p, 25p or 30p, along with 720p at 50p or 60p. See my full review at cameralabs . com for all the details.

  • That was a serious review! I went to the full review at cameralabs & was amazed. I bought a T2i back in Oct and was just looking at reviews to see what people where saying. Its my 1st DSLR and I enjoy it. Your review is awesome! I learned about the pros & cons. I have been taking DSLR youtube tutorials for about 2 weeks and now have a better understanding of what makes a good camera good compared to my entry T2i. I love the review and I think the T2i is a great beginner DSLR.

  • @Morpheus239 Thanks! I have a load of tutorials at dslrtips . com if you like!

  • What would be a good substitute for this cam.?? I'm looking for something with about same quality but maybe a lil less in price. 100-200 dollars cheaper......also are there any camcorders with similar hd quality as the 550d??

  • @Borderlands808 im no expert but the nikon d3100 is often compared to the 550d, and is about $100 cheaper. from what ive heard the 550d is worth the extra money if you want to shoot videos, but the image quality is very similar.

  • Thanks for the reviews. How much difference is there between the Canon T2i and T3i? If it is just the flip screen then I might just buy the T2i.

  • You are seriously the best camera reviewer on the net. You're very fair, you cover everything important and above all your reviews are easy to understand someone relatively new to photography like myself. Thank-you!

  • @DIGItalColourMedia Thankyou, that's very kind! Spread the word!

  • @DIGItalColourMedia Thankyou very much! PS - If you're after some photography tips, please check out my tutorial site dslrtips . com!

  • program did you install in your laptop? is that included after u buy your camera?

  • i like your hair

  • Our newest film, a feature film called LOVERBOY, was filmed on a 550D. Feel free to check out our video on youtube!

  • How do you think the noise profile of the camera is?

  • Could someone please help me with changing the self-timer value on the 550D? In single shot mode, the default setting is 2 seconds for the self-timer. This seems very short, but I can't find an appropriate tab in the Menu to change this value to a longer setting. Is there any way of changing this or will I have to get a digital remote shutter to customize how long the self-timer is? Any help much appreciated, cheers.

  • on the 550D, what does the +/- scroller do on the right of the eyepiece..? many thanks !

  • @lukeyblunt This is to change how things look through the viewfinder for people who wear prescription glasses, to accommodate for the fact that the image has to go through your glasses as well. It would be confusing if images were perfectly focussed onto your digital sensor and you were getting good, sharp pictures, but you kept seeing a blurry image when looking through the viewfinder because of your glasses. The +/- dial adjusts for this.

  • @lukeyblunt its the dioptric adjustment knob, to sharpen the image in the viewfinder

  • is there a rich sould that could give away one to me? I want one so much :(

  • Is there any way to look through the eyepiece when in video mode?

  • @awsomepossum1340 Sadly not, the viewfinder on a DSLR requires the mirror to be down - and when filming video, the mirror is up. If you want to film video with a viewfinder, you'll need a mirrorless ILC like a Sony NEX or Micro Four Thirds.

  • wait nm thats movie mode i didnt think before commenting sry

  • um i kinda decided to touch one of ur features and now i don't know what i did but now there are 2 grey bars on the top and bottom and i want them gone

  • The shutter speed says yes, but it all depends on the lens

  • would this camera be good for taking sport pictures ? great video thanks

  • اصلي عل شغلك

  • This has easily been the most informative review of any product I've seen on Youtube and a clear example of how this stuff should be done. Keep it up!

Would you still recommend this camera for video now at the price point?

    Thanks again!

  • @RetroRepair Absolutely, although you should check out my 600D / t3i review at cameralabs . com so you're sure about all the differences.

  • @cameralabs Great, thanks a lot!

  • @RetroRepair Thankyou! Yes, I'd still recommend it, but if you want a flip-out screen, do also consider the 600D / T3i.

  • that moon zoom is pretty incredible. like a mini telescope!

  • Spanish subtitles please!

  • I have the canon eos 550D and I have 3 questions, first is it the same as canon eos 550D t2i like is there one with t2i and one just 550d? 2: Is there a timer option & if so, how do i set it up? 3: is there auto focus on it? I would really appreciate if you could answer this. thanks.

  • @SurftheCity If the camera will be used on or near the board, you might want to seek out a waterproof model instead.

  • is this camera good with very low light photos? if i was to bump up the ISO am i still able to get a good quality image with getting too much noise?

  • @PSGrafixTV Yep, the low light quality is very good - go to the High ISO results page of my review at cameralabs . com to see for yourself.

  • Hi Everyone. If someone could kindly help me? I'm an amateur photographer. I use a semi DSLR for my pictures. I was thinking of buying a 550D for my very first DSLR. Is there a better choice than this? I know all the main controls of a basic dslr. I just don't own one. Is the 550D a good choice? Thanks! ♥

  • i am thinking of buying this or the eos 1100d. which do you suggest gordon? it will be my first dslr and i am really an uber amateur. please help me decide.

  • @dadiyoki if you're a beginner, get the 1100D or the Nikon D100, or the Panasonic G3

  • I have a Canon Vixia HF R21 that I use to make short films and someone recommended that I get the T2i. Can you tell me why it's better? My Vixia looks pretty good for daytime shots outside but if it's dark out, the picture gets a lot more grainy. Does the t2i have better night quality?

  • @BobbyDigital1980 DSLRs have the potentiual for lower noise in low light thanks to their much bigger sensors, BUT most won't autofocus while filming and you'll only see a real benefit in noise if the DSLR lens has a similar f-number to your camcorder. If you use the DSLR kit lens, it will have a bigger f-number than a camcorder and therefore gather much less light, so much of the big sensor benefit is lost compensating for the dim lens.

  • Pion aay pathan toun lita aaa????

  • Is it possible to take pictures in 16:9 format with this camera? greetings and thanks!

  • thank you :)

  • yay just got this for xmas :) so excited....

  • Hello. I am looking for a camera that can record good video and also decent high speed video. I am going to be recording bowling and want to be able to see a good view of the release of the ball. Any suggestions on a camera? I have been looking at the Exilim Zr100.

  • คนไทยครับ ช่วยแปลภาษาหน่อย อิอิ

  • @cameralabs Hi Gordon I was thinking about getting the 550 for some surf Photography and Motocross Photography, and In this video you suggest another camera if using it for those types of photography. What camera would you recommend , in a similar price range that can still do 1080 video whilst giving a faster rate of fire? Cheers Jon

  • @Bennallick I'd go for a Sony SLT or Nikon 1

  • Spectacular review, I'm purchasing one today.

  • Can this camera do HQ 1000 fps slow motion?? and to look smooth?

  • @HumanitySector if you buy twixtor... then yes

  • *review

  • Fantastic view, very clear, very well presented. Thanks.

  • auto focas in video mode does work good i want to film cars drag racing

  • @richardarichter123 Sadly not, there's no continuous AF while you're filming. I'd recommend a Sony SLT...

  • @cameralabs ok thanks was looking at sony today nice also nikon slrs are good 2

    cheers

  • You're awesome!! Thanks a lot

  • is there a mode where i can take pictures as fast as i hot the shutter button??? BTW im new to SLR cameras

  • hello Gordon , would you be able to do a fisheye review for the 550D helping me to choose a fisheye for the camera , i film skateboarding by the way

  • @Roll4Eternity I reviewed the Canon 8-15mm fisheye zoom at cameralabs . com!

  • aiight.. think i'm gonna buy this camera to make my epic graffiti videos even more epic.

  • Gordon, you are the God of camera reviews. After watching your videos I'm actually hoping for more cameras to come out, simply so you can make reviews of them. Truly, you have made purchasing my first DSLR an easy task. Thank you.

  • @bjhandeland you're very welcome! Please do check out my reviews at cameralabs . com - I have so much more there...

  • This is the camera Im getting for christmas. I had my heart set on it, and this just won me over! Thank you for creating a GREAT tutorial! (:

  • excellent review

  • remote control? THAT IS SO LEGIT! xD

  • filming a t2i with a t2i? huh.

  • one thing that this camera also does better than Nikon D5000/D3100 is processing a long exposure shot. It's much much faster.

  • I love your reviews Gordon....more frequency please

  • please change the guy ! makes me feel scared

  • @joaquinfelipe100 I don't think there is anyone who can replace him. I think he's a great reviewer :)

  • @MrRapala91 Thanks, I appreciate that!

  • @cameralabs i think your great!!!!!

  • @MrRapala91 I do have one other question. Is there any other camera the same or about the same but a little cheaper? Me and my friend wanted to make a short movie, so need high quality cameras. But want to see if there is a cheaper camear before we splurge. I'm cheap i know =P Thanks

  • @joaquinfelipe100 Thanks, that makes me feel really good. I think you're under the mistaken impression there's more than one guy to choose from. I'm a one-man operation here, so it's not like there's anyone else in the office to do it. I suggest closing your eyes when I come on!

  • @cameralabs Don't worry Gordon the rest of us would rather hear from someone who knows what they're talking about than an actor reading from a script. Keep up the good work. :-)

  • @ksearles85 Cheers! It's annoying for me as it's human nature to rise-to and respond to negative comments rather than ignoring them and spending your time trying to help with other questions... then again, maybe it's not negative. Perhaps it is constructive and I am too scary for youtube!

  • Comment removed

  • @joaquinfelipe100 What? Gordon, you are awesome! Keep up these stellar reviews. Many of us rely on your attention to detail to make informed decisions. Your approach is far more professional and attractive than the offensively casual reviews done by some of the "professional" review outfits.

  • What camera is better, especially for sport video's and photography? Canon 50D or Canon 550D?

  • @cameralabs would you suggest a t2i or t3i for a beginner filmaker.

  • @BeActiveBros If you think you'd use the articulated screen, go for the T3i, otherwsie get the T2i.

  • @cameralabs is the manual audio control on the t3i noticebly diffrent from the t2i's automatic audio?

  • Canon 550D or Nikon D3100? answers...pls...

  • Great review. Had already bought the camera as a spur of the moment buy, it was a choice of a camcorder & a digi cam and was steered toward this as a good compromise. As it has the edge on movies probably good advice from the seller.

  • @cameralabs would this be a good first venture into the DSLR market or would there be a different camera that might be better?

  • @zapper922 Yep it's a great choice but also consider the Panasonic G3 and Sony NEX C3. See the best cameras section at cameralabs . com!

  • Hello buy a canon eos 550D but me aparese an err 80 that probability problem that if the change another equally I happen again the same or the change by sony to nex 5N

  • I have this camera and it's simply amazing!

  • how to i change the FPS rate?

  • wanting to start up Photography. im wanting something thats not too big, not too small, and will hold small enough lenses so i dont have to carry around a huge lens everywhere i go. basically wanting to do some landscape shots/family photo's. will this camera be okay or would anyone else recommend one? thanks x

  • @TallGirlSarah01 If you want something smaller but with the same quality, try the Panasonic G3 or Sony NEX C3 or NEX 5N. See the best buys section at cameralabs . com!

  • @cameralabs Me and my friends are wanting to make some high quality films just like actuall movie films. Do you perfer this or another one?

  • @Jackspadeproductions This is a great choice, but don't forget the 600D / t3i, which is almost the same but with an articulated screen.

  • This camera is simply amazing. Check out its capabilities!!! Enjoy

  • Cool review.

  • hi, i am more of a sports photographer, not professional or anything, but i take pictures of horses in motions over jumps, and im looking to ugrade, wondering if this camera would be suitable for that? im like how it is 18megapixel, my one is currently 12, but has it got continues pictures? and the zoom i believe is only 3X? can i buy a better zooming lense for it? i didn't have time to watch the video, but will be back!

  • EXCELLENT review as always. Have had this camera for over a year now. It's been fantastic!..

    Thanks for your review!!!
